Dave Deacon Posted March 26, 2020 Report Posted March 26, 2020 As you can see in the Announcements folder the FA have announced this afternoon that this season will be declared void for all leagues at Steps 3 to 7. If you go that page, there is a pdf to open and read more about it.. Meanwhile, the SWPL will make a further statement later today. Cups are not covered by this FA news.
We Two Posted March 26, 2020 Report Posted March 26, 2020 The only sensible decision that could be taken, what football match is worth risking a life for? It's unfortunate for the clubs who have invested in the game at our level, but one would hope that they understand the situation we are all involved in and accept the fact that it's nobodys fault. mattelot 1

There is no way that anyone can forecast the end date of this virus, especially if the idiots who choose to ignore professional advice continue with their "it won't happen to me " attitude, and treat the advice with cotempt. With no guaranteed end date, the F.A. had little option but to expunge this seasons results and start from scratch next season, Imagine the outcry if the F.A. said the season will restart in whatever guise on a date in August and the pandemic is still with us, what then? finish this season whenever possible and cancel next? No we wouldn't be over the moon if our team was top of the league and missed out on promotion, but we would accept it with good grace and concentrate on helping those in the community with real problems. Hypothetical question which may not be as unrealistic as it seems - what if this pandemic continues to prevent football from restarting until say February of next year - what do you think should happen to the leagues then? Got a feeling February next year might be ambitious......

What a lot of naughty boys you have there, running up fines of £6,000 ! or were they just contributing to one heck of an end of season bash. Are there other clubs able to do this sort of thing ? if so lets hear about it. Ian Pethick Posted March 28, 2020 Report Posted March 28, 2020 So, if season 2019/20 is expunged, would any suspensions hanging over from season 2018/19 that were served at the beginning of this (expunged) season, now be reinstated? Similarly, are any suspensions that are still pending (or yellow cards that have been accumulated, but have not yet reached this point) wiped from the record?

hoppit Posted March 28, 2020 Report Posted March 28, 2020 How can you be suspended if the season doesn't count? That makes no sense. Expunged means obliterated completely all data and records do not count so that must include misdemeanors for the said season, it would be illegal to suspend anyone. Leroy Posted March 28, 2020 Report Posted March 28, 2020 15 minutes ago, hoppit said: How can you be suspended if the season doesn't count? That makes no sense. Quite simply because the FA have been very careful with their wording in stating 'all results are expunged'. No where have I seen 'the season doesn't count' as I would envisage the FA will use the season's performance of teams for 20/21 FA Competitions e.g. FA Cup. Given the careful wording I would also say all suspensions stand with no opening for clubs thinking they can be reimbursed for 19/20 fines. On a personal note to those leagues / clubs considering legal action against the FA. Wake up, look at what's going on around you. Now over 1,000 deaths in The UK from COVID-19. John Mead Posted March 29, 2020 Report Posted March 29, 2020 The details/records which are being expunged are those of the various Leagues and not those of the FA or County FAs. Discipline is not part of a League's responsibility so any suspensions not yet served will carry over to next season - whenever that might be! The number of accumulated yellow cards is not carried over; each season starts from scratch - unless players have already reached a trigger point for automatic suspension which has not been fully served.
We Two Posted March 29, 2020 Report Posted March 29, 2020 The way we see things is that a positive attitude will always come to the top eventually. There are plenty of cynics in this world who will assume that because you haven't told them what's happening they will assume that nothing is happening, and a golden opportunity to show the good side of the game we all love will have been missed. Nobody wants someone coming on here bragging we did this and that and they did nothing, that's not the idea at all, just let people know that we are not the insular uncaring fraternity of people that some see us as.
TheolderIgetthebetterIwas Posted March 29, 2020 Report Posted March 29, 2020 Positivity will always come to the top...always, and the cynics are always there as well...always. Human nature. Nobody has come on here bragging, merely stating what they have done for their community...well done. Others choose not too, but the ones they have helped - and are still helping are appreciative of the help. Maybe they don't want people to know the assistance they are receiving. Everybody has a choice to tell the world...or not. mattelot and baldy 2
We Two Posted March 29, 2020 Report Posted March 29, 2020 No need to identify individuals, just that we have invested in our community will do to show the doubters that we do care. Only seen one club come up trumps, and we all know who that is. It proves the point really that that the reaction they received was popular in the local area and beyond and other clubs would benefit from just making it known that they care about what happens in their community. At the end of the day it was just a suggestion that an opportunity existed that would benefit the perceived nature of football communities in general by some who wrongly see us as a problem rather than an assett..
