Dobwalls played us off the park to be fair.

After the midweek game / performance, I really expected a response from Bodmin. Dobwalls are a very good team, but if they outplayed Bodmin, there is, unfortunately, a real issue there for Bodmin.
By the way, hope Leeds is safe and well - not heard from him in a while?

Definitely not working out for Bodmin at the minute. Loads of money spent turned over by camelford and dobwalls who budget must be tiny compared.  Not a crisis yet but few players need to start finding some will to win.

Back in the bad old days for Falmouth Town under Alan Carey and Steve Massey we used to buy players in but you couldn't seem to buy in the team spirit and will to win. You never can fancied us to comeback if we went a goal down.

The successful sides these days are the ones who have built their teams from predominately local players over the years. Camelford, Liskeard, Saltash and Falmouth Town spring to mind.

it's tough pulling together a disparate group of players tactically, but even tougher turning them in to team who really care about the result.

Minutes silence before the game for the poor Plymouth 5 god bless them and also for former Penryn manager John Evans who sadly passed away yesterday after illness. Evo up there with Penryns greatest managers, the likes of Dave Jenkin and Alan Pearce. RIP Evo, great bloke. Porthleven came into the game on the back of their great 1-1 draw at Blazey last Saturday and Penryn after a leg sapping 3-3 draw on Tuesday night with 10 men against Wendron.  The game got off to a cracking start with Rapsey chesting  a ball off to Hayhoe whose shot was blocked for a 3rd minute corner. 2 minutes later Ports diminutive winger Sam Leslie who posed a threat all afternoon cut in from the right but shot across goal. An 11th minute free kick from Nick Boase from 22 yards was well held by the visitors impressive keeper Martyn Webster. On 15’ an outrageous bit of skill from Leivers saw him flick the ball over the Bemused full backs head Ossie Ardiles style and produce a fantastic cross to the far post where Reeve shot the wrong side of the post. The speedy Reeve made up for it just a minute later breaking away down the right and putting over his own far post cross for Daniel to dive in and thigh the ball into the roof of the net for the opener the hosts good start deserved. 4 minutes later the ball broke to Shaw 25 yards out and his chip over Webster was headed off the line from Shaun Hicks. On 25’ a square pass from the busy Shaw saw a great strike from Leivers superbly saved low down to his left by Webster. Two minutes later a superb pass splitting the defence from Billy Williams saw the pacy Reeve clear on goal but he shot straight at Webster under pressure from Max Roberts. On the half hour a lovely one touch one-two between Rapsey and Vallejo saw the latter shoot straight at the well positioned Webster. Port had a rare quick break but Robarthan was quick off his line to deny Ross Duncan with a fine block. From the resulting corner Hicks miskicked when well placed at the far post. A minute later Penryn were back on the attack and Rapsey produced a superb scissors flick between his legs to set up Vallejo just inside the area but his powerful strike was again well held by the impressive Webster. On 37’ a Vallejo corner was headed just wide by skipper May who enjoyed another fantastic display at the back all 90 minutes. Port came back and a good flick on from Rob Wearne saw fellow striker Duncan shoot well wide when clear on the right. The hosts deservedly doubled their lead 3 minutes before the break when a clever free kick off the training ground move ended with Vallejo playing in Boase who made a perfectly timed run to side foot home from the edge of the 6 yard box.

HT  2-0

The 2nd half was a lot more even affair after Blakey reorganised Port at half time like you knew he would and understandably both teams looked a bit leggy as the game wore on in the wilting heat. A 68th minute 25 yard strike from Dan Greet was well turned around his post by Robarthan down low and 4 minutes later at the other end a Reeve cut back from the right saw Vallejo pick Rapsey out with a clever back heel but his low shot was well saved by Webster. Chances were few and far between in a rather dull 2nd half compared to the 1st with defences on top, Williams, Boase and May were all excellent and deserved their clean sheet with Robarthan having a solid game behind them in goal. Ports central defenders Roberts and Hicks were far more compact after the break and Webster was probably man of the match behind them producing at least half a dozen top quality saves over the 90 minutes. Wearne was sin binned in the 81st minute for dissent by referee Steve Annis who enjoyed a good game along with his assistants Dave Rowe and Anita Gittens. After some of the refereeing I’ve seen in Penryns first two games it was good to see a ref blend into the background and let the game flow as much as possible and didn’t make the game about himself. They say you don’t notice the best refs don’t they! Lot to be said for that I think 👍️ Port captain Charlie Young was spraying the ball around last ten minutes trying to prompt his team into action but there was no way through the Penryn defence and Greet picked up a yellow card 3 minutes from the end to complete a day to forget for the Fisherman but one Penryn will remember picking up their first step 6 win after a bit of bad luck in their two previous attempts this week. I’m sure Penryns young manager Harry Pope who has already had some markable achievements in his managerial career so far will take 6th place in the league this evening even if it’s only for a few days! Great to have a nice 15 minute chat with Mousehole striker Mark Goldsworthy after the game, there watching his goalkeeping mate Martyn Webster excelling on the day. Goldie had some rotten luck with injuries over the last year or so, be great to see him back banging in the goals again soon. Great lad and top striker. Turned into a good day hearing 3 of our Western league sides had all won as well, Saltash and Helston after long trips and Millbrook at home against bottom team Bridport. One of Jacks best mates Luke Jephcott scoring the 89th minute winner for Argyle, well done Jephers, great strike mate! 👍👏🏼️ and Utd even beat Leeds 5-1!! 😁 The only shock to spoil the day was Truro losing 0-4 home to Hendon!! 😳 Great to see football back though, here’s to a Covid free season 🍻🥂

Callington Town 0, Falmouth Town 4.

An at times bad-tempered game went the way of Falmouth whilst Callington ended up with 9 men!

Another excellent first half with goals from Ollie Walker, Luke Brabyn, Luke Barner and Jack Webber. Falmouth were missing five players for various reasons but were still able to field a strong starting line-up, albeit only being able to name 2 subs.

Mirroring the previous two games, Falmouth failed to score again in the 2nd half spurning a few good chances on the way.

However, 3 out of 3 so far and a third clean sheet so no complaints.

The ref lost patience with the home team 2nd half, sent two off and very vocally reprimanded the bench. All that being said, Callington responded professionally and behaved as asked afterwards. Something that the old Blazey team may not have done in similar circumstances. They will do well this season if they can stay together and get used to playing with each other. This could prove a good win for Falmouth through the course of the season.

A great turn-out from the F-Troop by the way. Had to have been at least 50 fans who had made the long trip North through the holiday traffic. A great effort which the players no doubt appreciate.

Dobwalls 2 Bodmin Town 0

I largely wenr to Dobwalls to chalk up a new ground, having wanted to not travel too far as a bit under the weather ATM.

In short, the team ethic, work rate, organisation and no little skill earned the hosts 3 points. Bodmin, in contrast, were hugely disappointing. Too many long balls over the top aiming for their strikers, Landricombe especially.

An earlier contributor said Bodmin were 'outplayed'. That is hyperbole! They did strike the crossbar twice from set-pieces, had one of the line, with the home 'keeper making a couole of fine saves.

It was almost all one way traffic second half, but  Dobwalls defended superbly, whilst still having the two best chances from open play. The second of these about 3 minutes from time saw Fyneboy sweep home after an excellent counter-attack. It certainly was a rivetting game, particularly the defence v attack context of the second 45.

I'm sure Bodmin will feel hard done by, but they lacked creativity and, for me, lacked the spirit of the home team. Likewise, I think Dobwalls, showed as a team, whereas Town seem a collection of individuals, who on paper may be stronger, but they didn't delver.

First half was pretty tetchy and a weak referee did not help. A nicely finished move by Smith gave the Reds sonething ro hold on to, which they duly did!

Really enjoyed my visit to Lantoom Park. I smiled at the brilliantly name 'The Shed' and 'Bus Stop' stands! Nice tea hut with reasonable prices and a smart clubhouse - great to see a 'small club' prosper. Real value for money entertainment & a good advert for the SWPL!

Watched Liskeard Lanceston . Never seen a ref get some many decisions wrong . First min stonewall penalty . Waved away . Launceston scored a great long range strike from 20 yards .the half price grealish dominated the 2 Liskeard centre half’s all game they couldn’t handle him . He was a right annoying **** all game and they was sucked into it .. could see him laughing at them all game . Was beating the 6ft3 centre half’s in the air 👀😂😂They couldn’t handle him . Resulting in the 1-0 Lead Liskeard scored directly from Kick off to make it 1-1 . What in the hell the Keeper was doing still celebrating the goal 🙈In all fairness was a fair result in the end because Liskeard had about 10 chances and there strikers could hit a barn door. As per James Lorenz bagged the winner  3 mins from time .. great little player will be in the top 3 this year for goals ..

his striker partner looked about 2 stone over weight . they are Good going forward but dodge at the back and they can get got at . Liskeard will finished top 6 .. impressed with Launceston again just from the Will and determination possibly deserved something .

that sounds like waltz is writing about himself here😂 must of witnessed a different game but we wasn’t sucked into anything & most certainly didn’t dominate he for one was constantly on the floor buying fouls then sin binned for constantly nagging at the ref all game, launceston had one shot one goal, dominated nearly the whole game & yes if we took the chances it would of finished 10-1. dug in deep 3 points well deserved playing football the right way & against a well organised team but with very little quality.

I was sin binned because of the lineman gave offside when was 2 yards on didn’t swear at him just said omg that’s so bad … then he called the ref over …so nothing to do with me moaning at the ref all game 👀😂it’s just me what I do .. cross that white line do anything to win … name of the game . As for being on the floor how many fouls did I win . ??? So many is that because your defenders are thick and I’m clever 👀😂😂 this is what I mean. Sucked them in to my game Dillon and Matt were all over the shot …  How 🙈🙈🙈. To be fair to 1 shot 1 goal …  People on the sidelines tho are a shambles  … imagine celebrating like u won the league . You messaged mE saying you would pump us 5.0 easy took ya 89 mins to score the winner .. and u scored a half way line goal from  the kick off we let ya off … good luck for the rest of the season tho 🤙🤙🤙

I've been to watch "the Waltz" many times over the last 5 - 6 years. That is his game, dive, cheat, moan and get the occasional tap in.

But seems to have started this season well. Wonder how long he will last over there! Liskeard by far the better team yesterday, and could of been a lot more if there finishing was better by all accounts!

It seems the standard of refereeing has got worst i thought i saw the worst 1 at Mt Wise in the Newquay vs Blazey match but its seems most matches had bad officials and i have seen some brilliant refs in pre season . What's the point? Many on here are not conversant with the Laws Of The Game. Many have no knowledge or experience of taking charge of a match. Many find it much easier to criticise.

Trying to explain a decision on a Matchday in relation to the law is hard enough, imagine trying to do that to a bunch of keyboard warriors?

Has no-one noticed the sheer decline of referees that come on here and comment these days?

In another thread from yesterday, you've got one of the finest referees that you'll see operating on the SWPL being lambasted and ridiculed for decisions which are based on opinion!

If referees could come on here and give their interpretation and view on match incidents and actually defend themselves when the criticism is completely unwarranted, there would be alot of referees missing games due to reprimand.

Another thing to consider is the number of referees in Cornwall. Next week alone, there are more than 28 games without a referee! Twenty eight! It's getting worse. More are dropping out and people on here wonder why!

Read through a few of these ludicrous threads and then visit a ground and listen to what officials are subjected to - you'll get a small insight as to why Cornwall and the Country as a whole is in desperate need for officials. We are losing more than we are gaining and something must give sooner or later!

I thought the referee had a good game in very trying circumstances .Callington were simply outclassed in all departments and left chasing shadows for most of the game . After the 1rst 2 goals went in you could see the frustration was mounting on callingtons part and the " Stop em by any means ! " mentality kicked in . Mr Kane had no choice but to apply the laws of the game ,otherwise someone was going to get injured .

Don't know what was said in the callington dressing room at half time ,but it certainly wasn't keep your heads we can't afford to lose anybody on the pitch .First of all the captain walked for a second offence ,then the player he handed the armband to went the same way minutes later .Hardly leadership qualities when the chips are down .

Whilst I was walking out of the ground a member of the callington coaching staff was effing and Jeffing at the ref as he was walking off the pitch accusing him of small man syndrome ,this in earshot of a couple of youngsters .Again a pretty poor example to set .

Talking to one of their supporters there's a small core of volunteers at callington ,who are lovely people but need more help .I think they have enough to deal with without worrying about the on field antics .Hopefully the players will take it upon themselves to pay their own fines and not let the club incur it .

Blazey and Bodmin will both come good they have too many good players Blazey got a few out at the moment but still my tip for the title and Bodmin looked really impressive in pre season Darren playing with 3 attackers in Levi ,Jennings and Wheatley all good players but it looks like all 3 cannot play in the same team and Steve Simmonds on the bench 1 of the best defenders i have seen him and Tom Chambers get those 2 playing together  again and Bodmin will come good again but you got Jordan Bentley there as well and he was sub  as well . Darren needs to kick a few asses and hes got to think what these results are doing to poor Leeds Utd he will be in a Monastery if Bodmin continue to loose matches like they are doing .

As far as the comment goes relating to Bodmin so far - a little disrespectful to Camelford and Dobwalls who both finished above Bodmin when last season was curtailed!

Yes your right Dave but the embarrassing comment it’s purely based on what they have spent on players in comparison to the teams they have played. No disrespect intended to Camelford or Dobwalls
