100%cornish
Watched the Local derby Newquay vs Godolphin 1-1 ,the game wasnt the prettiest actually it was awful nothing happened in the 1ST half but in the 2nd half Newquay went in front not sure who it was someone said it was Jack Bray Evans but i didnen think he was on hte pitch yet seeing he was a sub , Godolphin equalised through Ross Fallens ,after a mess in the Newquay defence .A draw was a fair result but thought the ref had a poor game lots of niggly fouls by both sides if he had stamped down his authority earlier on the players wouldnt of continued kicking each other .Both sides with lots of players out for 1 reason or anothe Newquay badly missed Jose Perez and Cam TURNER as well as severel others inc goalie Dan Peters but the G had lots of players out also and they missed Phil Lowry a lot they had no one up front who could score . Decent crowd up there over 400 ,.but such a poor match .Both management teams gave the officials so much abuse lucky no one was sent off .Ok bye for now back to the dried out Turkey .Nearly forgot man of the match the 2 captains for me today Newquay Harry Downing and for Godolphin Joe Stone ok back to the Turkey yummy not
The Windmill On The Shirt
Report – Boxing Day, Wednesday 26th December Torpoint Athletic 2-2 Millbrook SWPL Premier Division With Robbie Morris at The Mill Report With this highly anticipated local derby at The Mill, the first time since the 2006/07 season in the old South Western League, honours were even with a 2-2 draw as Jack Wood equalised in the 90th minute to ensure the points were shared in front of Torpoint’s best ever SWPL home crowd of 371. The game started brightly for both sides, but the home side scored two quick fire goals midway through the first half. On the 22nd minute a great ball by John Heveran through to Danny Zalick who set prolific goal scorer Luke Cloke to shoot home from 8 yards, with face mask included, protecting his healing broken noise from Saturday. Then a minute later, Lewis Young in his second match back with Torpoint Athletic, doubled the home sides advantage when he cut down the right and curled his shoot from 25 yards into the top corner. The visitors reduced the arrears on the stoke of half time, when Lewis Young handle the ball in the area for former Torpoint player Tom Payne to convert the penalty. Three minutes after the break Luke Cloke could of double the advantage as he headed just wide of the post with a great cross in. On the 66th minute, Millbrook player Lewis Kershaw hit the post through a crowd of Torpoint defenders to nearly equalise, but that was coming later. On the 72nd minute Luke Cloke hit rasping shot on the edge of the area which just went wide of the post by inches, the draft of the ball made the side netting shiver. Then on the 90th minute ex-Torpoint player Jack Wood scored the equaliser from 15 yards to make sure the points were shared in a craking local derby. Torpoint Athletic: J. Peters, J. McCabe, L. Bevam, S. Hill, E. Crawford, J. Heveran, L. Young, R. Kane, L. Cloke, D. Zalick (S. Blatchford 74), D. Hicks (M. Roberts 70). Subs not used: B. Stacey, S. Hepworth, B. Cole Bookings:R. Kane 36, L. The Town Man
Helston 1. Falmouth 0. Another disappointing result for the Town today. I think that is two draws and 4 losses in the last 6 games against admittedly some good sides. However, today was a good chance to turn the tide against a fast-improving Helston. Credit to Helston today. They seemed to show greater desire in the first half and I wonder if the bad run of results is starting to affect the Town players confidence. Westy made three early substitutions to try to change the game but Town couldn't create any real chances. Last 10 minutes they showed great spirit but unfortunately it was not enough. Very impressed with the Helston C.F. Scott Beattie and the young C.B. Josh Storey. He is a real find! They are building a very good side there now. It might be costing them a bit but it is working! Another tough game on Saturday against Saltash. We are clearly missing Jordan Annear as any side would at this level. Also I think a fit Matt Buchan would help as well. This will be a good test now for Westy and Charlie Davis but they should be able to get the boys up for the upcoming cup games as they must be the main focus for the season now. Just to finish. Town lost today but James Ward was comfortably the best player on the pitch. Real class.
SWL Veteran
Falmouth losing at Helston - Saltash losing from winning position - Exmouth losing at home!!! all three sides have shown a soft touch not associated with winning things!!! The sides that get all the praise on this forum have had a bad day at the office. got to give a special mention to Darren Gilbert - although his side went down to 9 men with over 30 minutes to play - saw out the game comfortably with a huge number of regulars missing - funny how this won’t get mention!!! Rayvon
How many away supporters made the journey to Helston today. I remember the good old days when they used to bring 500 plus to Treyew Road, how times have changed. What do you make of it Big Al, did they all make the journey over to Kernick Road to sample some of those famous Curry Sauce and Chips. SCFC
strange turn on events for Porthleven, dropped 5 point in the last couple of games against teams theyve got to be beating if they want to win the league. Didnt see the Dobwalls game but 3-1 tells its own story with a man sent off too.. never a nice place to go but cant see liskeard being done like that. Watched the game at Wendron with my son, and we both agreed Porth were lucky to get anything at all from the game, with Tornado equalising with minutes to spare. New recent signings in the form of Tom Annear & Danny O'hagan wouldve suggested things were only going to get better? still goin with my gut from the start of the season thinking liskeard will win this, probs more comfortably now, and PZ beating Mousehole will only help their cause

Got to say was surprised how toothless Falmouth were in the match - too many straight thru balls that their forwards had no chance of catching. Agreed that Josh Storey looks classy but think his performance was shaded by Chinn in the midfield and maybe Scott Beattie who caused problems all day and finished for his goal extremely well. As for James Ward being the best player on the pitch - can only say he might have been the best James Ward on the pitch!!!! 9 bookings from a ref who barely moved from the centre circle in a game that was far from 9 bookings. If they can stay disciplined & focused, they will win the league quite comfortably, it's just having the experience to maintain the standards they have set. A great friendly club, deserve's success. Running on No budget either, it would be a huge success if they did see it through & win the title with what some teams are paying out. We Two
Does it really matter what an individual club is paying? unless it's the one that you support it's their fault when they end up in financial trouble and the mercenaries can't get out of the door quickly enough, and on to the next sugar daddy. Take an honest look around the leagues and ask yourselves how many that are now struggling, used to be the big money boys but are at present struggling on several fronts to keep their heads above the financial waters. Consequently the end result is that the fans facilities suffer as does general upkeep of facilities in general appear to be a real struggle, support wanes and life becomes a struggle.NOW LETS GET BACK TO DEBATING FOOTBALL!! What we stated is what we believe to be correct in football across the board within our region, those involved with their clubs are better placed to offer an informed opinion on who they are, but it must be said that some do seem to stand out as having regrets about acheiving short term success at the expense of their paying customers. Some even see their support as a secondary issue, as long as the finance comes from somewhere. Mr Loverman
