Some pretty interesting looking games amongst those ties as well. Would think Falmouth v Exmouth will be a big gate, "F-Troop v Muff Town Casuals."

Given the close geographical proximity of these matches, could moving the kick off times around to enable some sort of "FA Cup mini groundhop weekend" have been considered?

Shall I send you a copy of the FA’s 57 page FA Cup Tie rule book 😉

No thanks, I'll consider myself told...🙄

(Athough, once we get to the third round, the point at which I have usually lost all interest in the FA Cup, the fixtures are scattered liberally across the Friday, Saturday,Sunday and Monday).

Buckslook strong? (again) 😉 Some character seemingly shown by the Bucks boys after the defeat on Tuesday to win 5-1 against the same opponents - Torpoint Athletic.

That was a bonus after watching a superb Truro City display at Bolitho

BTW best wishes to the Hart family after their new arrival this week.

Much better from Ashes today , the weather didn't make it easy for either side and two reds both of which years ago wouldn't have been more than a yellow. Its so called 'progress'.

Nice of the FA to promise both clubs forms to use for today's game. Still nothing when I got home and I know Barnie sec Jane had nothing either. The so called Premier competition and we're scrabbing around for ruddy official forms.

Terrific performance from Buckland today, could have been even bigger margin of victory. Another decent 200+ crowd too, think I heard a steward say 208 when someone asked what it was.

Didn't torpoint rest a lot of players? See Ryan was on the bench who gave buckland nightmares Tuesday

Apparently buckland signed torpoint’s keeper Duffey too

Two games in, guess people do chase the extra £20 these days.

  • Dave Deacon changed the title to RESULTS : FA CUP - Saturday 5th August 2023 - Extra Prelim Rd

Falmouth Town 2.  Exmouth Town 1.

Falmouth Town belied their lower league status with a convincing display yesterday against their Southern League opponents, despite the absence of influential captain James Ward, Bradley Leivers and Ollie Walker.  The team being taken by Town Legend Tommy Matthews in the absence of manager Andy Westgarth.

With a strong wind at their back, Exmouth took an early lead when the Falmouth defence couldn't deal with a cross into the box and keeper Morgan Coxhead was beaten low to his left. However, soon after, Falmouth started to control possession and for the majority of the half totally outplayed Exmouth with some fine inter-passing amongst their talented midfield 3 of Andreas Callejas-Stayne, Jack Webber and Jared Sims.  Sims in particular stood out with his perfect first touch and one or two-touch football which really made Falmouth tick.  Exmouth defended well whilst Falmouth seemed to struggle a little with the final ball and the half finished at 1-0 to the visitors.

The 2nd half continued in the same vein although Exmouth looked dangerous on the break with their pacEy numbers 7 & 11.  (Sorry but didn't catch their names).  The turn-around seemed to come with the introduction of Luke Barner at around the hour mark.  His tireless running with and without the ball seemed to unsettle the Exmouth side and things started to happen.  Falmouth then introduced Cam Hutchison and went to three at the back with Callejas-Stayne dropping back to Centre-half.  Within minutes, Falmouth had equalised. After another attack, the ball was cleared to Tom Annear who rifled a magnificent shot in to the top corner from outside the box.  Falmouth then went in search of the victory. After a brilliant piece of build-up play, the ball was worked out to Alex Wharton on the left and he crossed to the near post where Luke Brabyn had got in front of his marker. Brabyn got a touch on the ball which was enough to send it goal-wards, beating the Exmouth keeper.

Falmouth were then understandably put under some pressure by Exmouth and dropped a little deeper but held on quite comfortably to claim a great win. An excellent team performance masterminded by Tommy Matthews whose substitutions changed the game.

UP THE TOWN!!

Wendron 1v3 St Blazey. Att.150est

Highlights from todays F.A cup match played in strong winds. St Blazey got the job done and it sets up an intresting match in two weeks when we face Mousehole at home.

I can’t believe the state of that pitch in August. It looks wrecked

The attendance at Falmouth has been quoted as 355  and Wendron  150 ish.  Have not seen any thing for Helston or Mousehole

Is that really highlights or just a St Blazey reel? Or did Wendron only have one chance and that was their goal?

I heard that but not seen anything official. Surely only joining as back-up to Andy Collings, plus we've got Tyler Coombes who was at Torpoint last season signed on too.

Surprising if he has signed, thought that Andy Collings was highly rated at Buckland and beyond. Unless of course he's on his way elsewhere...

First our chips, now our pitch Rocky!

Probably not the best it’s looked at this time of year but near immaculate. Few rough patches in areas due to hosting our annual Sharon Wood tournament on it a couple of weeks ago and our pitch funnily enough tends to improve over the course of the season.

Slightly green and black tinted perhaps but no doubt they played the conditions better than us and had the better of the chances on the day. Deserved winners and best of luck for their season ahead.

Good to have Rocky back on the forum after Buckland's false start to the season.

It's filmed to give St Blazey supporters who can't be there for what ever reason, a glimpse of how the game went and capture our goals at least. It's not easy capturing what's happing at the other end all the time but we try.

Better to have something to look back on then nothing at all.

The highlights are quite entertaining (especially the supporters small-talk!) and serve a purpose, but could be improved maybe if filmed around the halfway line rather than behind the goal.

Keep them coming though!

Shouldn’t Torpoint be rightly looking to replace him now?

You would think so. The whole episode is strange with Torpoint having a player who's head has clearly been turned now deciding he wants to stay, and Buckland's assistant manager walking away after being denied the signing of a goalkeeper to (possibly) replace their existing goalkeeper who is highly rated and on a contract.

Local football is never dull.

What you all have to remember is that there's no loyalty in football.........a player will leave for a better offer and a team will replace a player at the drop of a hat.

Duffeys a good keeper.....so for now Torpoint will keep him

Exactly- appears players held to this a lot more than clubs!
