At a sweltering Bickland Park, Falmouth Town overcame visitors Clevedon Town with four first half goals. Jack Bray-Evans sustained an injury after only 12 minutes with young Charlie Edney replacing him.

Within a minute James Swan opened the scoring for Town, then shortly after the period water break Tim Nixon added a second with a third added from Nixon's corner which was flicked on by Tom Annear for Alex Wharton to stab home. The scoring was completed just before the break when following a foul on Jack Webber,  Tim Nixon's hard low free-kick beat the Clevedon wall to squirm under the visiting keeper and into the back of the net.

The second half was a lot quieter affair with Falmouth snubbing out Clevedon's attempts to get back into the game.

A good all round performance and a chance to introduce the returning players for a bit of a run out.

What we need :   A statement win against an established Western League team who are no mugs and have played at the next level up but on the day were outclassed and if we can replicate this performance, then we should be okay.

Jack Bray-Evans fit,he pulled a hamstring against Saltash tried to start yesterday but the gamble didn't pay off. We're only four games in,let him rest for the next four (that's only 2 weeks).

What we don't need :  Jack Bray-Evans unfit,if he isn't rested then you're potentially looking at up to two months out.Makes sense to do it now while the season's young,we've got players more than capable of covering for him in Edney,Bowyer and Brabyn.

Secondly and more worryingly, the abuse of visiting supporters to Bickland Park.Yesterday I saw so called Falmouth fans tell a group of Clevedon supporters to "go back where you came from" and also the abuse of a teenage girl and her parents. These idiots are not what this club is about and behaviour like this should be stamped out immediately,I'd rather have fewer fans in a respectful atmosphere than these neanderthals.

Falmouth v Clevedon

All the excitement and goals came in the first half. The second half was a little dull but Falmouth defended well to prevent an unlikely Clevedon comeback. The extreme heat was a major factor and having a good bench of players was a welcome relief I would imagine. I read before the game that Clevedon are an organised team but they don’t travel well. Therefore I had wondered if travelling down in that heat had added to their woes. However it does seem a lot of Falmouth players are adjusting to the higher standard and are now winning those tackles and not being outmuscled. On a personal level, great to see kayden-Gordon Dunn and James Swan adjusting now and finding their feet!

Must  be easy to identify who in the crowd was abusing the away support and a young girl and her parents.
Surly these  people need removing asap from the club   . Not brushed off as banter from good old friendly F troop.

These the same group of Falmouth supporters who didn't defend their territory when St Blazey came with so called 'hooligans'  a year or so ago?

Some fans even run off to the club house 😂

Doesn't sound good trying to intimate a family & a teenage girl

Unfortunately this attitude is endemic in the game and has regularly been adopted by some forum users with the added advice that the cure is " if you don't like it, don't go to the match"
The only way that some people can reply to what they see as the opposition who hold a different view to their own views, is to offer abusive language and behaviour.
This is not attributed to any particular club but will continue be around as long as it's labeled as "banter"

This type of behaviour will always show itself and has been in football forever, it was only ever going to be a matter of time before it showed in your crowd.

F troop or whatever that element has and will always be there waiting to show the true side.

Go back to the original Ftroop, a few beauties in that lot regularly reared their heads, especially when the Truro boot boys were in town.

Surely it's time to stop buying all this never ending F Troop propaganda 🤦‍♂️

It's a bunch of supporters wearing scarves with a few flags, the likes of which you can spot up and down the UK every week, even at lowly non league levels.

Because no other club feels the need to adopt this form of support in Cornwall, the self publicised F Troop think they've a special status, like they're some kind of ambassadors for local Football 🤪

The disappointing abuse of normal supporters peacefully watching the game proves the F Troop have an element of bad apples, the same as a lot of other clubs do.

Let's stop the pretending they're a unique troupe of over achieving fans who deserve weekly accolades. They appear to think they're doing Cornwall Football a massive favour. They're not, their unsavoury behaviour against innocent bystanders on Saturday proves that.

Support your club yes 👏 but do it peacefully and spare us 'how fantastic you are'.

It's all got rather predictable and dare I say it, incredibly boring 💤

Ashton & Backwell frustrating Mousehole again, and a superb win at previously 100% Buckland for Saltash (the result of the day for the Cornish Western League clubs). Millbrook also getting the measure of Bitton again, early days yes, but proving the people wrong who thought they may struggle.

The clubs travelling down to Cornwall went home with very little, further sowing the seeds of doubt in their minds about making these journeys.

Even at this early stage though, Bridgwater look like they will take a lot of stopping. 12 points from 12 after thumping Street away.

What can the f troop do ? In any walk of life in any country you get 200 people together they’ll always be a couple of .

Bridgwater especially looking good but a good start for Shepton Mallet too.

If Mousehole don’t get promoted this season surely it’s a failure?

I would say so. Watching their documentary series, it's clearly a very ambitious club that is looking beyond the Western League. Will be a tough league to get promoted from, plenty of clubs will want to get out of this league and avoid the Peninsula/ Western league merger.

Jake Ash comes across as a very impressive figure as well, the club will need to keep progressing to keep hold of him.

Promotion is the on-the-record target, and Jake didn’t hold back with his criticism of Mousehole’s performance in his post-match interview on Saturday. But Jack Calver and Hayden Turner are both expected back for Tuesday night’s game (Millbrook at home) so hopefully we’ll see some improvement.

Certainly looking good, scored 8 at whipping boys Keynsham on Tuesday and 7 on Friday night away too. They've certainly started like a train, can they keep it going?

Looking at where clubs like Mousehole and Helston have come from any forward progress is a win.

How long did it take Tavistock and Exmouth to go up?

Took Tavi 3 years. They could argue that, but for the 2 COVID seasons, they would have gone up before then. They were top before the cancellation of the 2019/20 season.

That’s good going 👍 what’s the clubs story ? Where did they start?

Since 2014/15 (when Stuart Henderson took over) they have won four league titles, finished runners up and third once, achieved three promotions and were top when one of the two COVID seasons was cancelled in March.  Over shadowed by near neighbours Plymouth Parkway's rapid ascent, but also a remarkable run.
