Lanner v RNAS Culdrose

Also postponed.

Surprisingly not due to Tresavean. Pitch would have been playable but we had our services disconnected to changing rooms without any notice. Also had to remove bolts from changing room door just to gain access to find out.

Illogan RBL Thirds 1-4 Falmouth Town Thirds

Different team that played illogan 2 weeks ago with the missing players returning.
First half up 3-1 with goals from dan reeve x1 and Matt Bailey x2. Great service to the strikers through midfield. 2nd half looked like illogan we’re finding there way back into the game with town looking tired. A change where P Webb moved from winger to striker and buried a excellent volley from a goal kick to put town 4-1 up. Illogan played well but town with a full strength squad back showed good form.

Onto to the next leg. Let’s hope we get a good run.

Division 2

Frogpool & Cusgarne 2-1 West Cornwall Res

A wet day, but thankfully the pitch survived.

A lovely moment to be a part of for the whole squad before the game as we thanked Nick Mallaber for 25 years service. This was honoured in a presentation also attended by Dave James.

A great game played in largely good spirits against a very good young outfit in West Cornwall.

Our opening goal came from a beautiful move down the left hand side. Will Harding grabbing another assist, his stunning cross was smashed home by Jack Froud from close range.

The West Cornwall attack looked dangerous on the counter attack but Lewis Bax, Tom Campbell and Jordan Phillipps defended well. Callum Davis occasionally being called into action but always looked solid.

The second goal came shortly after. Some confusion in West Cornwall’s back line and a slightly fluffed clearance from the young goalkeeper, who also made a hatful of very decent saves, led to Harding delightfully placing the ball into the empty net from far out.

A very good midfield display from Harding, Charlie Martin and Sam Bromley allowed us to have a lot of good play in the first half, but the introduction of Sam Blackwood proved to cause West Cornwall a few problems - his scintillating run was just fired over.

West Cornwall did get one back though after a very encouraging second half display where they did dominate for chunks of the game. The player turned Blackwood and fired into the far bottom corner. Hard work from everyone, particularly the likes of Aaron Coveney helped us to see out the game.

Man of the match: Adam Coveney - an outstanding display from the tenacious right back who also caused problems going forward.

**** of the day: we are all still wondering how Jack Froud missed THAT chance.

Thank you to everyone for your support today and another congratulations to the legendary Mally.

To be honest it was a vastly different illogan side to 2 weeks ago, that's not an excuse you were the better team on the day and we wish you all the best in the next round :-) hopefully our final encounter and we'll both be at full strength, all the best x

Madron 2 - 4 Hayle thirds

Good game all round. Some cracking banter for once from both sides.

Could have swung either way at 2 each if madrons strikers could find the net.

Thank God there was no goal line technology at madron for what would have been hayles 3rd goal. The ball was blatantly a yard over the line, luckily the ref and linesman hadn't been to Specsavers and the goal didn't stand.

Onwards to goonhavern at home for madron

No chance of being sporting and honest to tell the ref that it was in? Or if you were the lino to flag for the goal?

Guess at the end of the day it didn't matter.
