FA Cup draw news for Helston

Recommended Posts

Helston have been drawn Bishop's Cleeve away in the 2nd Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. The tie is to be played two weeks time - 17th September.

They play at Step 4 level in the Southern League Division One South, currently 12th, and one player who should be familiar to some of us is Jordan Annear.

20220406_120030.thumb.jpg.c469569bde6e91eedfb230f807450082.jpgNice venue, popped in there last season on my way past to see where Jordy plays his footy these days. For anyone who’s interested it’s an immaculate 3G pitch with one decent sized stand ( 150/200? Seats ) and a smaller stand ( 70/80 seats )*as in the photo down towards the far end just past the halfway line. No cover behind either goal. Quite an open pitch, could imagine a wind affected game wouldn’t be too pleasant there!? Nice little set up though but nowhere near the standard ground of Kellaway Park for anyone going 👍️  Good luck Helston 👏🏼 A Jordy goal and Helston win be nice 😀

Have a look around, all the kids play on 3G these days, hardly know what a piece of grass looks like.

Give it a few years the whole lot from top to bottom will be on the plastic stuff.

No more jumpers for goalposts anymore, and games that lasted morning, noon and evening....the good old days.

would love to know whether you are looking in Cornwall or not.... the few in Cornwall are dotted around, and usually padlocked out of school hours/weekends so the good old jumpers for goalposts it is for most kids!

Very few actual goalposts up in parks etc these days also, mainly due to vandalism - a real shame but a sign of the times
