So we are back to 3pm ko seems stupid decision ,its a dull day here in Newquay it will get dark early and they will have to have the floodlights on burning up the electric could of saved some money if they had the 2.15 ko .Anyway i will be up Mt Wise at 3pm to watch the Peppermints play Mullion should be a good game both teams need a win to get that 4th position im going for a 3-1 win to Newquay

Newquay ground out a hard fought 2-0 win vs Mullion this afternoon not the prettiest of games to watch but another 3 points for the Peppermints and with teams around them dropping points a good win .

1st half very scrappy but Newquay striker Jack Rapsey with his back to goal hit the ball over his head into a unguarded Mullion goal brilliant goal from the young striker .

2nd half still pretty scrappy but Mullion goalie Williams was making some outstanding saves while Newquay goalie had a quiet afternoon Mullion played some nice football with Harry Roberts making some great runs but they where lacking a striker but you got to give them credit for the nice football they play and it is only there 1st season in this league .

Goal number 2 when Matt Sanders on as a sub put Newquay 2-0 which they deserved but they made hard work of it Newquay defence was brilliant again .

The ref had a brilliant game and let the  game flow onto my MOM someone who does not get enough credit but i thought he was brilliant so i am given it to Jared Sims and for Mullion the goalie Paul Williams for keeping the score to only 2

Look forward to Marks more in depth report later was good to see him and his family and Smokie enjoyed the fuss made of him just wish he would wear his coat he just stands there and shivers Smokie that is not Mark .

Well Done Newquay onto next weeks match vs Camelford should be another tough game Reg is building a good team after losing so many good players like Ryan Downing to Wadebridge

You beat me to it Steve!! Im off to work so thought id better get in quick! Good to see you looking well and Smokies a lovely little chap mate bless him, bit cold 2nd half wasnt he.

NEWQUAY (1) 2  Rapsey 11'  Sanders 72'

MULLION (0) 0

ATT:  115

MOM : Leivers NQ/Williams Mullion.

Great goalkeeping performance from my old mate and team mate Paul Williams in the Mullion goal made sure the visitors came away from Mount Wise with a respectable looking scoreline their hard work deserved. The hosts took a 10th minute lead when Jack Rapsey with his back to goal on an angle 15 yards out hooked the ball over his shoulder and into the far corner of the net. Alex Cole burst of pace down the left in the 17th minute resulted in a drilled cross just behind Rapsey who adjusted his body but his bicycle kick cleared the bar from 6 yards. 6 minutes later a great pick out from Jake Shaw saw Cole turn inside a defender but Willo made a great low reflex save from 10 yards. 8 minutes after the break a fine Cam Turner free kick to the far post saw Cole volley literally an inch past the far post. The match dropped away for 15/20 minutes but Newquay stepped it up again last 20 minutes when Rapsey got down the right to chip a cross back to the outstanding Bradley Leivers who volleyed wide across goal. A 70th minute slick move involving Rapsey hold up play on the halfway line, releasing the rampaging Shaw down the right and his pinpoint cross was met with an excellent power header from Jared Sims but Willo made a brilliant save turning it over the top corner. 👏 Hard to believe he's 50!!! Like a fine wine! Matt Sanders replaced young Connor Wharton a minute later and a minute after that he was heading home at the far post after a Leivers pull back to Turner who hit a rasping edge of the box low drive beaten away by Willo only to drop to Sims who sent a cross back to the far post for Sanders to nod home. Leivers got down the left time and again and he drilled a cross to the far post which dropped and dipped straight over Willo and under the bar into the far corner only to be denied by a linesmans flag. 3-0 would have probably been about the correct scoreline on the day but I'm sure Newquay will take the 3 pts over a very hard working Mullion on a really difficult pitch to play football, and who did look a threat at set pieces particularly in the 1st half if maybe not too much threat from open play as the Newquay defence had a solid day mopping up everything. Very well reffed by Mr Neil Hunnisett 👏 like a ref that mixes with the players and explains things, top job done. A few yellows that all looked correct. Entertaining game without being a thriller, floodlights needed for the last 25 minutes.

Agenda? The whole game every time there’s a foul there’s also a barrage of shouts from both sides. Let the ref do his stuff for goodness sake!

Exactly - let him do this stuff. It’s you bringing it up. Only one in the ground who doesn’t think that’s a free kick

Bude 1 Wadebridge 1

A fair result overall. Really impressed with Wadebridge’s defence but Bude didn’t do enough to break them down at times after having the majority of the ball.

Good attendance and positive comments from Mr Hiscox regarding where the ground is moving towards!

you think your still getting top 4 with so many more games played?🤷🏻‍♂️😂

Not sure where there was a mention of top 4 Buggzy Malone?

Been huge progress at the club whatever happens - on the up and another season at this level, could be a good thing! Glad you’re keeping tabs though pal

Bodmin 2; Wendron 2

A very entertaining game yesterday at Priory Park between high-ranking Wendron and former league heavyweights Bodmin.

Really interesting to see the progression of this young Bodmin team having watched them against the same opponents a couple of months ago.

Bodmin started well and took the lead early after a defensive mistake from Wendron. They continued to impress and would not let Wendron get their passing game going. The game turned unfortunately on an oversight from the officials when a blatant push on a Bodmin defender let in Charlie Young to score with an emphatic finish.

Wendron then started to dominate with Ryan Reeves pace down the left a concern for Bodmin but the half finished at 1-1.

Bodmin came out fighting in the 2nd half and created a few good chances which they couldn't convert.  Wendron threw on the pacy duo of Can Wheat and Josh Wood in the 2nd half and Dane Bunney switched to 4-4-2 to contain them. The game was looking like a draw until Scott Palmer stole in at the far post from a free kick to make it 2-1. In an exciting finish, Bodmin went on the attack and the ball fell to the #8 who lashed the ball into the top corner from outside the area!

Apologies for not knowing the names of this Bodmin team but credit to Dane Bunney who gets some criticism but looks like he is building something good. Particularly impressed with the #4, #11 and #77. A bit more pace down the flanks and he won't be far off next season.
