Chris Davey
Mount Ambrose 1 Probus 2 Trelawny 3 With our manager Graham Smith away, I was in charge for this week and I gave a rousing team talk that resulted in us being 1-0 down after 5 minutes! We gradually settled into the game and played some good football and we had more of the possession with the home team relying on breakaways without threatening. The Mount Ambrose keeper made some good saves and our finishing wasn’t great. We did eventually equalise when a Jamie Bilkey corner went to the far post where Andy Sheer controlled the ball well and his half volley went into the ground and looped over the defender on the line to make it 1-1. We continued to have the majority of the play and we always looked dangerous down the wings. We went 2-1 up after 33 minutes when Ben Emmett hit a shot from 20 yards, giving the keeper no chance. We almost scored again just before halftime when a great move involving Joe Emmett, Jamie Bilkey and Jack Truscott ended with Joe Emmett poking the ball wide on the stretch. 1-1 at halftime. I made 3 changes at halftime to freshen things up and the second half continued the way the first had gone, where we had numerous chances but we failed to take any of them despite getting into some great positions. Again this was because of a combination of excellent goal keeping, not great shooting and some poor decision making in the final third. Whilst it remained at 2-1 we were always liable to be vulnerable on the break but the home team only had 1 shot on target and Sam Jones dealt with that relatively comfortably in goal for us. We were pleased to get the 3 points despite leaving our shooting boots at home. Mount Ambrose defended well but were probably pleased that it only ended up 2-1 because, in my opinion, we dominated the game. Thanks very much to the stand in referee who had a good game. Another tough game next week when we face Constantine at home. RAPPO

Asterix
Saturday November 6th. Illogan Park New Inn Titans 10 - 1 Frogpool Reserves On a crisp sunny afternoon, the pitch had been cut, the lines were being marked, and there was a crowd gathering…. Mainly because Illogan park we’re playing Bodmin RFC across the field. Now with the majority of New inns supporters in yorkshire, riding childrens toy cars and singing “How much is that doggy in the window” and playing darts for Cornwall, New inn only had a few watching. Including league member - David James. 2pm came around and As New Inn was warming Shaun isaacs was stretching out his good knee, as this week he was dawning the whistle. Frogpool arrived, with a bare 11, and Shaun and Mushy had the luxury of 13/14 players. Shaun blew his whistle and away we went. New inn, we’re missing a few boys, but their replacements were just as much up to the task, there’s a real sense of squad unity here this season as we approached the half way stage of the season. Titans got the ball down and we’re playing some lovely short passing football… Barry P had his boys disciplined as usual, and they got down to business after 5 minutes opening the scoring after The returning White Pogba, drove home a exquisite shot into the bottom corner after beating 2/3 players and guiding it home with power from 20 yards out. Then after some exchanges in the Frogpool box shortly after the ball fell, and Skipper Bazzy P slotted home from short range. New inn started to then play football freely and it was hard afternoon for the Frogs, as their 2 experienced strikers just didn’t get any service and Frogpool hardly getting out of their half, didn’t register a shot, First half. Titans went in at half time, 4/5 Nil up. Shaun got his boys in the changing rooms and laid down the Law…. “Get the ball moving quicker and we will score more boys” Second half kicks off and New inn changed to 3 at the back, Foxy who seems to have played 102 seasons of junior football, Pascoe and Barry P, this pushed Mushy Jnr into midfield and let Robert slot in the middle alongside White pogs, Connor, Baber. New inn pressed for more goals to make their goal difference stronger in the bid for the league. Johnny the Bull getting 3 being his clinical and strong self. Raging. White Pogba Grabbing 2 with his 8 ft leg span making it easier to skip around defenders Robert Penfold - who must have Velcro stuck to his boots, as the ball doesn’t go anywhere. grabbing another 2 Also grabbing 2 goals, was the relaxed and versatile playmaker Connor Arthur. And the ever present and dominating skipper Barry P notching another for the season. Big game coming up, next weekend as we welcome local rivals Holmans To Illogan Park. Shaun isaacs can hopefully feel pleased with his boys, as the man couldn’t have much to say as he had to officiate.
