St.ives town 5 (1) Redruth United 2 (0)

First half we played well had a few chances but st.ives scored to lead at half time. Second half we scored when dan horler shot and the keeper was unlucky not to keep it out. They then went 3-1 up before we got another goal back too make it 3-2. Last 10 they scored a couple of late goals to make it look easy. Second half was end to end football and to be fair they took their chances and we didn't. Fair play to their assistant for awarding our first goal. Sorry we did not come back but its xmas party season.

Forgot to mention 25 watching

PENRYN  (0)  1      Jack Rapsey 73’

ST.DAY  (0)  1        Jake Williams 75’

ATT: 81

REF:  GEORGE PATTISON  10/10  👏🏼

MOM: Dan Lord (PENRYN)

Great advert for the league, fast paced game between two committed teams, played in great spirits in front of a decent crowd and excellently refereed by George Pattison as always. Nothing in the game for the opening 20 minutes before the visitors took control for the remainder of the half and carved out a few chances before the break. The 20th minute saw the lively Jake Williams jink down the left before laying the ball back for left back Sam Kevern to shoot just over the bar. On 28 minutes James Daniell got free but Tom Annear produced a superb last ditch tackle just as he was about to pull the trigger with captain Russell May following suit with another last ditch tackle just after. From the resulting corner Jack Willis powerful header was superbly tipped over the bar by home keeper Dan Lord. Three minutes later Willis was denied again by an even better save from Lord diving to tip his shot over the bar again. The only flashpoint of the game came just before half time but was dealt with superbly by ref George with his usual no fuss approach letting the players breathe after a tangle following a strong tackle. 6 minutes into the 2nd half Daniell looked free on the right but shot wide of the far post and from then on Penryn went on to dominate the next 25 minutes. The Impressive  May swung a cross in from the left after 55 minutes but Jack Rapsey’s flicked header was well held by young Ben Whiting in the Saints goal. Harry Roberts powerful strike on the hour was straight at Whiting but well held. Both defences looked solid with Saints skipper Luke Hart and experienced partner Tom Hogarth putting in some strong challenges and headers along with right back Nathan Taylor and the hosts back three of May, Annear and Ed Rowe snuffing out most visiting forays forward with their reading of the game. Luke Osborne was seeing plenty of the ball in midfield for Penryn and the deadlock was finally broken in the 73rd minute when Jake Shaws cross from the right was headed away by Hart only to fall to Rapsey on the edge of the area and he took a touch before hitting a great left foot volley into the bottom corner. They say teams are most vulnerable just after scoring and this proved true for Penryn as the Saints bounced back almost immediately with Williams racing away down the right before rifling a stinging shot into the roof of the net giving Lord no chance. Annear made a marauding run out of defence but shot wide 5 minutes from time before Williams shot just over at the other end. In a frantic finale Dan Richards cut in from the left but his low shot was saved again by man of the match Lord before he headed the rebound onto the roof of the net. An 89th minute shot from Richards was brilliantly blocked by Annear. An injury time corner was whipped in by Annear, headed away by Hogarth and saw May produce a great overhead kick which was headed off the line by Hart before the final blast on George’s whistle. A winner would have been unfair on the Saints as their first half performance and last 10 minutes fully merited going away with a point with the hosts on top for much of the 2nd half also deserving of a point. Bit fresh 2nd half but a game to warm the heart and a fair result in my opinion. Good set of lads on both teams and good to see old mates Joff and Rob from St.Day doing a top job there along with home manager Harry Pope as always who celebrated his 30th birthday 🎂 last week. PS) thanks for the programmes Rob, will enjoy reading them mate👍

Hayle 3 Perranwell 3 - Entertaining game for the neutral, with Hayle having more of the possession and the Well playing on the break. Perran caught Hayle out with 2 well taken goals from Lachlan Brace and James Rowberry, only for Hayle to strike back with a worldie from all of 35 yards which left the Well's keeper stranded. Hayle had a decent shout for a pen just before the break but the ref waived it away. 2-1 at half time. Hayle came out strongly after half time and playing down the hill they dominated possession. Two well made and taken goals looked to have wrapped up the points for Hayle. But 10 minutes from time the Well's Lachlan Brace picked up the ball just inside Hayle's half, making a mazy solo run which was finished by him smartly tucking the ball home passed the outstretched Hayle keeper to level the score. More pressure from a Hayle failed to deliver the 3 points that their possession probably deserved, but well played Perran who looked to have turned the corner from their early season struggles. The match was well reffed by Alan Hoon.

Yes thought the ref did a good job with no real bad tackles etc it probably made it an easy one for him but his overall performance was very good

great report rappo.. dont usually comment whatsoever on here but what a game to represent the st piran league yesterday . Nice strong well fought game by both teams ... well reffed by Patterson. Brilliant for the neutral . 2 points dropped in my eyes . But pressure coming from penryn second half could of easily gone either way. .. nice to have a ref that let's the game play after a hard tackle and not being told I should of been born in the 70s for my tackling 😂😂 luke hart and Tom Hogarth absolutely solid for us yesterday!!! 💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤

Yeah well played mate, really enjoyable game to watch Nath. Helped by Georges unfussy reffing, hard physical game but no nastiness between two good sets of lads. Saints better side 1st half no doubt, only Lordys saves kept it level at the break with Penryn edging the 2nd half I thought. Some good football by both teams and two great strikes for the goals. Look forward to the rematch at the Vogue! Great value for £3 mate 👏🏼👍

A great report as usual, Rappo. It was great to see you, if only for a few moments. I hope you enjoy those programmes & I look forward to receiving the other programmes from you.

I have to say how delighted I was with the lads performance, they put a real shift in and can count themselves unlucky not to have left Kernick with maximum points. It says it all, when the stand in home keeper is man of the match.

Both teams gave absolutely everything, in a physical encounter, which was full of passion and maximum effort; a great advert from local football. I have to give huge praise to George Pattison, who was outstanding and officiated in a manner befitting the occasion.

Here's looking forward to the reverse fixture at Vogue Park  💛 🖤
