Tms 0-4 Illogan 2nds (0-1 ht)

(Gareth Pitt 2, Jason Buckley and alan Buckley)

1st half

Strong wind and heavy pitch made it hard going today but both teams still tried to play football when possible. 1st half didn't have many chances either end and was more of a battle in the middle with tms clearing lines when in trouble but struggling to keep hold of it up front with the strong following wind, other end when we did get close to tms to goal it was cleared again. Goal came from a good ball in the box knocked down by the returning skipper babo for our Jason to shoot but it was going wide and I managed to redirect it the other way wrong footing keeper and it snuck in. Rest of half uneventful until last minute when tms did have a chance which grazed the bar and a one on one which grass saved well.

2nd half

For the first 20 mins it was played in tms half with us putting a lot of pressure on them and eventually getting a goal from Jason who hit a really good strike from a headed clearance. Tms came back into it then with more pressure in the middle but still not creating many chances as our defence remained rock solid all game. Eventually we got a third, my 2nd woohoo and with about 5 to go alan Buckley came on and scored who now must have the best goals to mins ratio in the whole trelawney league, awesome. Tms did have one good chance 2nd half but again grass to the rescue remaining big and saving well.

All in all thought we were good value for the win, tms have a decent young side who will only improve, tall lad in the middle played well for tms and some good performances from all of our defenders and also craigy williams in the middle for us worked tirelessly.

Alan Pearce had a good game as the ref as well.

Titans 2 -1 Threemilestone

Can't argue with the above tms were superb in defence all game felt we dominated but time and again if there captain never cleared it there keeper saved it. Have to say goal of the game from tms sweet strike not sure he will hit another like it but I'd be bloody proud of it. Can't fault my players we knocked and knocked and knocked and thankfully with 5 left tms fell down credit to them and there manager. 3 more points JUST x

Storm 2 (1) Hayle 3rds (0) 1

A hard fought win today in difficult conditions. Despite having the better of the first half, Hayle had the first real chance as they broke down the left and after a bit of a scramble a chip came back off the bar with our keeper stranded. With the wind at our backs, we carried on creating, and squandering, numerous chances. When Matt Doble took an inswinging corner from the right for the umpteenth time, he decided to cut out the middle man, and dropped the ball inside the far post. He does claim he intended it, and who am I to argue?!?1

In to the 2nds half, and chances came at both ends before the ball broke from 3 of our players as they managed to tackle each other. I think it was Shaun Mitchell who picked up the ball for Hayle and drove in to the box. he rode a challenge and controlled a few bobbles before being sandwiched between Mike Price and Conor Bray, and the penalty was awarded and converted.

As the game headed towards the final whistle, it became more stretched, with both sides going in search of the winner. Into injury time, Dave Price played a delightful chip over the top for debutant, Ben Kellow to race on to, cut inside a challenge and finish neatly past the keeper in to the far corner.

Well played game and well played to Hayle who more than played their part in the match. Nice to see them coming back for food and good luck to them for the rest of the season.

Cury 3-3 Falmouth athletic

Fal scores- Lee Miller, Kevin Watts and Mark Picken

Typical bottom of the table clash, cury will feel they should of came away with all 3 points, but from some inspired goal keeping again from Steve Prynn. Cury 3-1 up at the start of the 2nd half but we battled back to claim a much needed point

Cury 3 Falmouth athletic 3

Must agree with above we do feel that the 3 points where there today if only marge (no10) could hit the target !!! Good game well battled from both teams more issues with the linesmen than anything else the refs son offered to run the line for us which seemed no problem until he gave an offside about 30 mins into the game then Falmouth made a point of getting the Lino changed cus the boy was underage I think we will all agree the bloke that replaced him was worse !!! Then deep in the second half the Falmouth Lino disallowed a cury goal after a chat with the ref who in a good position gave the goal at first then changed the decision after the Lino said the player is about 12 inch offside. I would suggest the limo is fast tracked to the premier league if he can make such good decisions. Although boasting in the ear shot of the ref after the game that he did his team some favours probs didn't go down.to well. However all in all it was a good game well fought and that's to Falmouth for coming back after the game. Good luck for the rest if the season from all at cury fc

Carharrack 4-3 mousehole

Well carharrack were shocking in the first 20 mins conceding to early goals then we woke up and 30 and hour gone and Gregg wills cross got a big deflection and hit the net for 2-1. Then 5 mins after carharrack were level when Liam Bray challenged the right back won the ball played through James tregay to round keeper and score 2-2 carharrack then took the lead when Bray found Tregay who finished to make it 3-2 mousehole threatened just before half time but Aaron jones saved in carharrack goal 3-2 ht

Second half

Mousehole started better and equalised in the 55th minute when the defence failed to clear the long ball and slotted home for 3-3 both teams looked for a winner and in the 65th minute carharrack won a corner which resulted in Kyle jones rising above defender to find the back of the net, both teams kept pushing and mousehole finished the better without creating many chances but good carharrack defending gave us all 3 points,

Good win for us up to 6th roll on Redruth united next week

Mullion vs wendron

Brilliant conditions 2day 4 football, which over recent times has become rare! Wendron took an early lead 2day through keir dent who had a poor shot which 9 times out of 10 the mullion keeper would of saved some how squirm past him and end up in the back of the net! Wendron soon doubled there lead when keir found the ball on the edge of the area and squared 2 liam traths 2 put a good low shot past the keeper. We got our third just b 4 half time when Ben Roberts put a brilliant ball over the top and keir ran on 2 it and lobbed the on rushing keeper wid a great finish! After goin in at half time 3-0 up and playing some really good football, mullion came out in the second half tho really fired up and soon got 1 bk from a good finish low in the corner by there striker 2 make it 3-1. Mullion kept putting pressure on us and then there player nick the ball of our center half 2 run through on goal and finish 2 make it 3-2. As they attacked looking 4 the equalizer wendron broke and Liam put a ball through to keir where he ran through rounded the keeper and finished 2 complete his hat-trick and pretty much finish mullions come bk wid only 10 mins left and thats how it finished! Good luck 2 mullion 4 the rest of the season great bunch of lads! Also a quick mention about the young ref (dont know his name) who also had a great game!

Trelawney 1

Helston Res 2-2 Rosudgeon (HT 1-1)

Rosudgeon started well and frustrated Helston early on for a good 20 minutes, Helston then improved and the game was much more even.

We caught Helston on the break and managed to get a goal, well worked right from our own corner flag.

We were pegged back before half time from a fine header.

After the break Helston got off to a fine start, not allowing Rosudgeon to play for the first quarter of the half and deservedly went ahead.

Rosudgeon soon settled and niether keeper was really tested throughout the whole game.

We nicked a goal on the break, and managed to hold on for a draw.

Great result, for a Rosudgeon side missing many regulars, shows what good squad we have.

Unbeaten in 3 against Helston this season (2 wins and a draw) just need to find some consistency for the remainder of the league season.

Best of luck to Helston

Hayle 4ths 4-1 West Cornwall Res (HT 3-0)

Not the best of days for West Cornwall, playing away to the team on top of the league and having to start the game with 10 men, it was never going to be easy. In fairness our 11th man showed up not long after kick off but due to both our sides missing 2-3 players each we were forced to play several players out of position and throw some of our young, inexperienced players in at the deep end.

Game was lost during a 15 minute spell in the 1st half where Hayle scored 3 goals in fairly quick succession. A decent team talk at half time turned things around for us slightly when we got a goal back from a nice bit of football. Hayle got the 3 goal cushion back fairly soon after and saw the game out.

Frustrating for the lads today but full credit to Hayle, they had the majority of possesion, particulalrly in the first half and had that extra bit of individual quality on the day that won it for them.

Apologies to Hayle for the lack of faces in the bar afterwards, I believe only three of us stayed behind. Not sure what happened to the other lads but I'll be having a word next week.

Good luck to Hayle and looking forward to the return match in a couple of weeks.

The ref was Ciaran Barlow and I have had him 3 times this season, outstanding young ref. Told me today he has been linesman for senior cup and not long until he takes control of these games. Well done pal

Fair write up on the game Pitty, and good finish for your second goal. not so good for your 1st! Good finishes from the Buckley's too. Thought Tms didn't deserve to lose by 4, but the stats don't lie, and greengrass only had two or three decent shots to save. experience won over youth. Well reffed by Alan Pearce.

Think there are two questions there - Illogan Reserves are in a different class to the rest of the division. They would finish at least half way in the combo but dont know about the rest of the league. Combo isn't all that anyway - bottom 5 or 6 sides are no better than junior sides - my opinion

Mabe 13-2 storm reserves. Good game we were very dominant and should of scored a lot more. but storm took a couple chances well that they had there 1st good strike into the bottom corner on the edge of the box and the other a scream of a free kick. unfortunately I don't get to see many of our goals being between the sticks. only downfall to the game seemed to be a young lad running the line for storm and flagging every opportunity he had and really took the flow out of the game. I believe he was swapped in the second half which helped the game get some pace. Referee was good. Looking forward to a big cup game next week

West Cornwall 6 sennen 1. Feel for sennen as they've also got school of mines tomorrow morning.

Sennen 2-1 Camborne School Of Mines (HT 2-0)

A hard fought win in a force 7 gale, with goals from Pete Edwards and Jamie Nicholls. Couple of great saves by Paul Angove in goal.

To gilly - you didn't need to feel for us afterall, as we had a full side available on Sunday rather than the Saturday. West Cornwall & Helston you both owe us a favour

Rangers 4 - 2 St Day,

What a cracking day for football and the pleasure of using the big boys pitch at Gala Park couldn't ask for more. I would have to say we played some of are best football this season in the first half. Going in 2 up at the half and wondering how it wasn't more. Not very often I give a half time chat about what a great game their keeper is having. Big Barry in goal pulled off some greats stops and was really responsible for keeping St Day in the game (Class Today).

Second half pretty much went the same as the first with us being on the front foot. Two more goals gave us a well deserved cushion and chance to give the young blood some more game time. Credit to them as well for keeping it going.

Felt for St Day a little today few injuries that couldn't have help their side and on such a big pitch. Still they fought to the end and pulled back 2 late goals.

A good game played in a good spirit with only one poor challenge which got what it deserved. I thought the ref was excellent and really handled the game well. Thanks.

Finally I hope the young man who turned his ankle from St Day is ok. We wish you all the best for the rest of the season fella's.

Division 2

Mullion Reserves 0 - 2 St Ives Reserves

St Ives once again found themselves on the road this week, with no less than 150 miles covered in the last 3 weeks (though this week we took the scenic route via Poldhu Cove for a bit of sightseeing first)

After getting changed, doing the warm ups and getting set for kick off, we were informed by the Mullion manager that the referee hadn't shown up, which led to 40 minutes of everyone standing around looking at one another and the game looking very likely to be called off (and at this point I must apologise to anyone who was in earshot of my disparaging remarks at the time, I've been suffering with the dreaded ManFlu, so standing around getting cold wasn't exactly doing my mood any good)
Eventually, the Mullion manager said he would step in (Jeff I believe?) and Referee the game, and as I mentioned on another thread, he did an absolutely fantastic job of it all afternoon until the Mullion 3rd's vs Wendron 4th's game finished on the other pitch and the young lad Ciaran Barlow took over for the last 20.

The game itself was played in near perfect conditions, though the pitch like many after the Cornish Monsoon of the last 9 months was a bit heavy. This led to quite a slow tempo throughout the game, with clear cut chances at a premium.
St Ives created the first couple of chances, with quick breaks down towards the clubhouse end resulting in both Charlie Eddy and Danny "Ginger Berbatov" Paynter getting in behind the Mullion defence, only to be thwarted by decent saves. At the other end, Mullion were looking very organised and very dangerous from any and every set piece they had, with the Yeti relieved to have a free kick come at him at chest height so it had no chance of going through his legs (see Threemilestone last week..). From another set piece, Mullion thought they'd grabbed the opener with a header, but the Ref ruled it out as the lad had used Nick Strong as a step ladder to get above everyone else in the box.
A couple of chances for both teams came and went again, with (I think) the OAP Scott Goodchild putting over from 15 yards, and Noah Tanner clearing off the post from another header from another set piece.
HT 0-0
The second half followed in similar vein as the first, with only a mistimed header by Nick Strong from 8 yards out, and a drilled shot kicked away by yours truly at the other end the only notable chances in the first 25 minutes of the half. However, we are fortunate enough that most of our team are younger than Justin Bieber (whoever that might be), and we started to carve out some extended pressure and chances, albeit seeing them flash wide or over.
With the changing of the Refs, the Mullion manager promptly got on his megaphone from the dugout and spurred his team on, and to be honest the end result could have been anything from 0-0, to a win for either side, such was the even nature of the last 10 minutes. However, St Ives eventually prevailed when a good whipped in corner skipped up off the turf and was met by an expert Judo forearm block by the Mullion defender, who knew even before the ref pointed to the spot what was coming. Alex Brown, after sending a few earlier efforts towards France, duly kept his nerve and put the penalty away. This seemed to knock the wind out of the sails of the Mullion lads, though they still had a chance to level from a free kick, which luckily for us was their worst set piece of the day as the lad went for power and nearly killed several of the Wendron players still getting changed in the shed next to the clubhouse.
Whether there was a slight mix up in the timings between the Referees I'm not sure, but we seemed to play for about 97 minutes, and in the 94th of those, an interception by Noah in his own half led to the ball being quickly worked through the middle and out wide to the OAP, who scored in typical fashion, turning on the turbo boosters and firing into the far corner.

All in all, for long periods this had the feel of a 0-0, and full credit to both teams for trying to keep a good tempo to the game on a heavy surface, but we prevailed and move on to play some team called Titans next week.

Thanks again to the Mullion manager for stepping forward to referee the game, he did an absolutely fantastic job and showed 0% biased. Sorry we couldn't stop after the game, with the late kick off quite a few had to get back to go to work, and I had to get back to get into bed with a Lemsip

Ben, if the manager was who I think it could have been, yes he did an excellent because he was an experienced referee, who sadly has hung up his refereeing boots.

I am inclined to believe you are correct, I seem to remember him refereeing some games in the past. And he refereed the game exactly as a referee would
