Michael Rabone
Newquay 2 - 1 St Day Newquay hosted St Day in the first round of the League Cup on a windy afternoon at Mount Wise. The first half was a fairly even affair and Newquay should have opened the scoring when great work from Orrin Crowle allowed Michael Rabone in at the far post and he volleyed over when well placed to score. Newquay did take the lead when a left wing cross left from Matt Davis left the St Day defence in disarray, as Rabone and Crowle both retreated from an offside position, Jack Bevan and Tom Taylor both made runs from inside their own half, worked the ball around the St Day goalkeeper and Tom Taylor opened the scoring. A lengthy debate followed about the offside rule and the referee gave the goal. Thankfully that situation doesn't happen too often, however, St Day got back on level terms before half time when a similar situation led to Perran Cooke winning the ball in his own half and played the ball to himself. A St Day player managed to outpace him and despite two excellent saves from James Merrikin the ball dropped to Cooke who smashed the ball into the net via close range. The first half ended fairly even, with Bevan and Rabone denied by some smart goalkeeping from St Day's number one. St Day also had a good chance when a header from their centre back was blocked en-route to goal. The second half was very similar to the first, both sides had half chances but did not make the most of them. Newquay regained the lead mid-way through the second half when Michael Rabone picked up the ball on the right wing and launched a long throw into the box, Matt Davis flicked the ball on and Orrin Crowle nipped in at the far post and his shot just evaded the goalkeeper. Both sides continued to generate chances, James Merrikin had to react as Tom Rosenfeld stabbed the ball goalwards late on and Grant Russell made an excellent run past three St Day players, only for his goalbound effort to be smartly turned around the post by St Day's number one. Both sides put a lot of effort in and it was a very close game. Credit to the St Day lads who are a top bunch of guys. The referee also deserves a mention, discussed decisions with players and also gave players a bit of a wake up call when getting a little carried away. He dealt with both goals in the first half in a very professional manner and handled the game very well. Thanks to Rafa for running the line too - top job. Pasty's man of the match - Grant Russell. baggie
Portreath 2 Mullion 5 We were absolutley rubbish today & got what we deserved - nothing. Credit to Mullion. young side full of enthuiasm who wanted it more than us today. Thankfully this was a cup match so the result doesn't affect the league but we need to take a look at ourselves. Well done Mullion but we'll put that behind us & look forward to next week.

cornishteddyboy
How about calling it an own goal as he's scored enough already this season. I wonder who will win the golden flip-flop at the end of the season. Kayne Trevaskis is top of the scoring chart at the moment but his goals seen to have dried up a bit recently. cornishteddyboy
Brora are in the Highland League and Forfar in the Scotish 3rd Division. Today was a Scottish cup match so one would have won eventually.

Pitty
Holmans 2 - 2 Hayle Holmans Goalscorers Daniel Jewell John McMahon attendence 20ish An entertainining game at Blaythorne which saw both sides playing some good attractive football in windy conditions. A much depleted Holmans side due to work commitments and injuries found themselves against the wind in the 1st half to which Hayle took full advantage and were very lively upfront causing the Holmans defence lots of problems and found themselves 2-0 up at half time although a missed penalty from Nicky Medyln for the home side could have halved the scoreline The 2nd half saw Holmans with the wind advantage and a tactical substitution at half time lined up with 3 upfront. Daniel Jewell on the 60th min made it 1-2 although was denied his 2nd a few min later due to a close offside decision. It wasn't until the 88th min when substitute John Mcmahon scrambled the ball over from 2 yards for the equaliser to share the points

Michael Rabone
It appears that there was some confusion with the paper, Orrin definitely scored, I would have been a bit concerned if Ako was that far up the pitch bagging a header!! Doesn't help that 2 of the back 4 didn't play, 7 players pissing up night bfore (standby those players), player sent off and one collasping during the game. So based on that it should of been an abliteration. Hopefully that was the kick up the ass the lads need. :angry2:

isaac rosenberg
Illogan-St Just.....Great free-kick winner from 25 yards from Matt Gendall to confound all the six forum predictors who had this one down as a home banker. Good game, lots of good stuff on the floor till Illogan panicked in the last twenty minutes and started launching it....never write off the Tinners on a rough day !
