  1. Such sad news, Lovely man
  2. That trophy is called `The Mayors Cup` its an old tradition cup that is between Porthleven and Helston whenever they play against each other, i believed it stopped for a number of years before Chris Strike and his grandad Alex Strike got it going again, now that they play in different leagues, its generally the Dave Gardner tourno where its get played for.
  3. So Wearne, Whipp and Timmons moved on already from Helston??? I know Wearne has gone to St Austell, but where have the other two gone to?
  4. Porthleven Football Club Official ALAN CAREY is the new PORTHLEVEN FIRST TEAM MANAGER: Club Chairman Deryk Heywood and the committee are delighted to announce the appointment of Alan Carey as our new first team manager. Alan has a footballing CV that is second to none in Cornwall having won numerous leagues and trophies. We are extremely enthusiastic about this appointment and Alan is looking forward to working with Reserve Team Manager Darryl Hunter and driving this club forward and achieving the aims of bringing Premier League Peninsula Football to Gala Parc. More details to follow after the weekend.
  5. Vacancy filled! Alan Carey Taken from Official Porthleven AFC facebook page.
  6. It was me, pick up a copy of the Helston Packet today and there are 5 pictures in there for all to see. Heres a taster, but it gets worse!
  7. Can someone confirm some info for me please. Stithians are playing Marazion in the Div 1 cup tomorrow 8th Oct, Is this 2pm kick off at Stithians showground? Could someone who plays for the side provide me with their phone number or email, so i can get names of the players, The Packet newspapers are wanting a squad picture tomorrow of the Stithians side. brush your hair boys.
  8. just doing the programme for the season, but dont need it now, ran out of space!
  9. The SWP league has a full list of ground locations with Post codes for sat navs. Does the combination leave have such list anywhere or anyone know it all?
  10. Taken from the West Briton By Lee Hall. PORTHLEVEN have confirmed the appointment of Kevin Richards as their new first-team manager. Richards, who has been associated with Port as a player and a manager over a 30-year period, replaces Charlie Young, who stepped down at the beginning of the month. Young will remain at the club as a player/coach, and has been named as Richards' captain next season. Richards, who guided Mullion to the Combination League title in 2015 in his third year with the club, will be assisted by Martin Pennington and Chris Strike. Richards said: "I've missed being here and I'm delighted to be back. I've had 12 months out of the game, it didn't work out at Mullion, but it's great to have the opportunity back at Porthleven." The club have also confirmed the appointment of Daryl Hunter as second team manager. Richard said: "This is not just about the first-team, it's about the whole club, working together between the first and second team." Port's first-team finished a disappointing second from bottom in the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League, while the seconds finished bottom of the Combination League. He added: "It was a disappointing season for the club as a whole, but we will work hard this summer in improving the squads. We won't run before we can walk but I'm confident we can slowly turn things around." Richards' last spell in charge of Porthleven ended in 2012, before taking over at Mullion, where he guided the club to eighth, sixth and first in his three seasons there.
  11. Really? be surprised at this with his reason for leaving porthleven was work commitments, not only that i think his boys are playing elsewhere next season and he is aiming to spend his time watching and supporting them???? Could be wrong though?
  12. PORTHLEVEN 1st V WADEBRIDGE tonight Tuesday 23rd February game is ON Gala Parc 7.45pm kick off
  13. Thanks for your input Dave Leonard! The committee may not have the best knowledge of the football however it is this committee who have finally got Porthleven AFC out of debt after being in the red for many many years, they work tirelessly all together, not just making teas and so called getting drunk! Look at the bank balance and they are making a hell of a difference! I for one have seen what has been done at the ground and can say it is looking the best it ever has (Best ground in cornwall this year) thanks to mainly the committee and as you said yourself Deryk Heywood, Ian Lewis and Cozy Powell. If managers, coaches, players & supporters feel they dont like the current committee then thats pretty sad to hear, but its different from what i have been hearing as they are far from prehistoric idiots, i think previous committees may have been labelled this because of there power trips of making up their own rules as they go along, you know all to well as you was on the committee yourself so surprised you come out with this statement about the current porthleven committee. You sound very bitter about it all and to be honest you are better off taking your negativity elsewhere, as its not welcome at Porthleven AFC. Phil Ruberry (Dont need to hide behind a name)
  14. game is def on, no doubt some different players will be fielded again this week, watched truro play helston and a week or 2 later a different team played porthleven!
