Bridgewater sack manager!!

Recommended Posts

And quite an amazing statement released by the club;

"After 7 years as Player Manager/ Manager (2 yrs. covid break) the club has not achieved promotion. This season results so far have been good but not great. The 3 losses costing the club 9 points and over £10k in costs are not acceptable to our new owner Ian Davis. Ian is a very keen football supporter and wants the club to be promoted and has made this decision with a heavy heart but feels it’s very necessary that new blood is introduced to the club to give it the push it currently needs. Ian has invested a considerable amount to get the club clear of debt and has improved the grounds and the facilities and only wants what’s best for the club. It’s all about the club not any one person."

Sounds like the new owner sees himself as a Todd Boehly type character. Bridgwater fans should be very afraid.

The goalkeeper and their social media admin have also both posted that they're heading out the door as well in disagreement with the decision. How can 2nd in a very tough league be under performing? Madness.  And to reveal the financial "loss" from 3 games in such a way is nothing short of stupid! The twitter post itself is closing in on 800,000 interactions and it's not from good PR! The decision has gone down like a lead balloon and the statement is pretty damning, probably the worst I've seen. Shambles. Helston and the other challengers must be laughing their heads off at this own goal.

It's quite obvious his point was that Bridgwater are no longer in that list, despite only being a point off top. You can't lose a manager, goalkeeper and regular goal scorer in one week and maintain a steady ship.

Ah - stating the obvious then!! Thanks for educating me🤣🤣

This is such a strange situation and watching the interview through BBC Somerset yesterday it seems the owner "does not care".

There are always comments available on forums and spectator chat about budgets but I've never ever seen a team openly publish online. For £3,300 per game, it is not surprising that owner expects to almost be unbeaten and running away with things but still they are in and around it so a very very strange decision. Are any Bridgwater players on contracts?

Unfortunately this is what happens when you get people who have no clue about football taking over football clubs and getting drunk on power.  Dave would have put his life and soul into that job for 7 years and done anything for that club,  only for some idiot to just take it away from him in the blink of an eye.

Doubt that Dave Pearse will be without a club for too long. A warning for all clubs in the SW though, most of whom them are basically skint, desperately short of volunteers and would welcome any cash laden "messiah" coming in and promising the world (didn't Penzance have a close call with such an individual a few seasons ago?). Several non league outfits in other parts of the country have succumbed to the charms of these types, who have then wreaked havoc and left them in a sorry state. Was having a discussion with someone at work recently regarding the state that his local club, Billericay, had been left in after it had been taken over by a high profile local businessman, treated as his play thing and then dumped.

Heard from grapevine Cal Martindale off Bridgewater now

Announced last night that he signed for Helston.

I see Tom Moxham, late of Falmouth Town, who is also a left back, is not now listed as a player for Helston on Full-time.  Any idea where he has gone?  Decent player to snap up would have thought.

Well, Torpoint now have a vacancy for a left back.

Ludicrous statement and action by Bridgy. The Chairman made most of the statement about him and not one word of thanks to the departing manager. Classless. Not only were they second in the league, but still in cup competitions too. Really hope Ian Davis ends up with egg on his face.
