Doms 5 Sticker 4 p

After sneaking past the same opponents two weeks ago in a cup tie, it was a return to the league yesterday for the first team and what a game it turned out to be.

A positive start saw Kane Thomas square a ball for an easy finish for Taylor Gerry from six yards. Thomas doubled our lead, good hold up play by Kieran Prescott who laid off to Alex Jacob with the cross converted at the near post for 2-0 inside the first 15 minutes. Sticker pulled one back when we didn’t clear particularly well and the chance was seized on with a low finish glancing in off the post. The visitors then equalised when an initial shot was blocked and we failed to clear with the attacker clipped and the resulting penalty was converted by the visiting skipper.

Sticker took the lead five minutes after the break, a mis-placed pass along the back line was intercepted by the forward who finished. We pulled back to equalise at 3-3 when Kieran Ryall’s shot came back off the post to Thomas to tap in to an empty net. Sticker then looked to have ended our run when the striker was afforded time to turn and lay the ball off to the oncoming midfielder to finish. Then into 6 minutes of injury time for more drama as we equalised again. A 1-2 on the edge of the box and Jacob’s shot had too much pace despite the keeper getting a glove on it to be kept out to level things at 4-4. One final throw of the dice saw a ball crossed to the far post, Jacob headed back across the 6 yard line and Harvey Barrett was on hand to somehow turn the game on its head with, for the second week running, we get a winning goal in the last minute of time added on.

Also at the St Dominick v Sticker reserves game and a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon it was too.

Not much to add to Massive88's report above - an excellent end to end game for an hour, then it tailed off for a while and a few rash tackles (and a nasty looking clash of heads) came in. Then, after the 90 minutes were up on my watch, it exploded back into life with three more goals in stoppage time.

Both teams also hit the woodwork and force the opposing keepers to make a couple of good saves too.

Perhaps both teams will need to work on their defending though!

Watched Newquay Reserves vs Wadebridge Res on Saturday with Wadebridge winning 3-0 , very dissapointed with Newquay they have been doing so well playing lovely football and where top of the league but against the Bridger they where awful and goalie Tom Jeal had a quiet afternoon and not having much to do ,but in the Newquay goal young James Lenton made some brilliant saves to keep the score down .

Ross Beare was controlling the game for Wadebridge and there young team where dominating the game .

The players that impressed me where Beare ,the no3 and the lad that came on as a sub for Wadebridge he was really good and can see him going far .

My Mom for Newquay goalie James Lenton and for Wadebridge Ross Beare
