  1. Absolutely crazy fixturing with no thought for players welfare! We play just under a third of our season’s total league games for the whole season in August- 8 out of 30. Effectively a game every 3 days from the 7th for the rest of the month…. I know and understand the desire from ECPL to play games again when the weather is better but this is excessive!!!!!! Jiggy, SNEFC Manager
  2. Our club is looking to strengthen its existing East Cornwall League team and are inviting any new players that are interested to contact our manager Martin Grigg 07494564136 to discuss further. We have one of the best playing surfaces in the league and recently refurbished changing rooms. Our progressive and proactive committee is helping to drive the club forward and this is matched by a desire to be successful on the pitch. We look forward to hearing from you!

  5. I’m completely confused by the rules of this cup now and don’t know what I can and can’t do. Are there actually any rules to be followed or is it just a free for all? It seems every club is being told different things and allowed to do different things.... Some clubs told they can play higher league players, others told not! Some clubs told they can and have signed players after 31 March deadline, others told not! It’s more confusing than Boris’s lockdown rules..... Jiggy , St Newlyn East
  6. St Newlyn East v St Stephen on Tuesday 27 April is now OFF. Unfortunately St Stephen are unable to raise a side. We wish them well and hope they are able to fulfil their remaining matches.
  7. St Newlyn East v St Stephen (at St Stephen) is a 6.30pm ko
  8. St Newlyn East 3-0 Newquay (Faulkner x3) Good luck to Al Lenton and his young side for the rest of the season. Jiggy, Manager SNEFC
  9. Our secretary has just sent me the link to this document and it is scary to see what is needed to host a game of football when we re start. If anyone is just looking at the summary points that are well known (no changing rooms and spectators etc.) you really need to read this document!!!!! 😮😮😮 ....if any one has any suggestions for socially distanced pre match warm ups please let me know!!!!!!
  10. Just one problem! What if you weren’t in the ECPL last season?
  11. Listening to Phil Hiscox talking about reasons for suspending the SWPL with Dave on the Podcast last week was execellent and would recommend it. When he talks about the actual practicalities of hosting and ‘policing’ games he makes it very clear the difficulties all clubs now face at all levels in putting on a home match. I think there might also potential punishments for not adhering to theses new FA guidelines which I’m sure all clubs want to avoid! Jiggy, St Newlyn East
  12. Guess this means we will have beautiful dry Saturdays with no rain or wind for the next 2 weeks! 🤷🏼🤷🏼🤷🏼 Seriously tho - Stay safe everyone!
  13. St Newlyn East 2-3 St Stephen A very close game with the visitors taking the points thanks mainly to the game’s best goal and moment of class from Ben Rosevear in the first half. Newlyn’s striker lost possession and the ball quickly found Rosevear whose turn and finish opened the scoring. St Stephen we’re the better team in this half - our 6 weeks without a game showing - closing and pressing as a unit. Newlyn stated the 2nd half brighter and deservedly equalised from Matt Toms only to see them quickly concede from a corner. The 5ft 6 Toms somehow found himself marking St Stephens 6ft + skipper Damerell who effectively had a free header to restore the lead. . St Stephens 3rd goal quickly followed when an innocuous challenge from Josh Dingle saw the referee correctly award a penalty that was duly converted, Nrelyn kept attacking and scored their second when Jamie Seery rose highest to head home a Mitchell free-kick. Newlyn had chances to equalise from open play and also from goalmouth scrambles but the visitors held firm. Overall we are disappointed not to get something from the game as probably on reflection a draw would have been a fair result that neither side would probably have complained about - but that’s football... Good luck to St Stephen for the rest of the season. Jiggy. SNEFC Manager
  14. Roche v St Newlyn East - OFF. Referee decided pitch was unplayable following pitch inspection just before KO.
  15. Polperro 4-1 St Newlyn East Nobody who saw this game could argue that the final score line didn’t reflect the game and flattered the hosts who were in a close game that could have still gone either way until the 87 minute. We hit a post and had chances to score before opening the scoring on 28 mins from Lee Paxton. Polperro equalised just 4 mins later when a rash challenge from our keeper gifted Polperro a penalty to reply from. Polperro scored early in the second half to go 2-1 up when a long ball over the top was converted. Both teams had opportunities to score but it wasn’t until the 87th and 91st minute with Newlyn pushing for an equaliser that the game was sealed with two late goals. A very even contest overall with (IMO) Newlyn the better team in the first half and Polperro controlling the second better and going through after taking their chances. Good luck to Polperro for the rest of their season. Jiggy, Manager SNEFC
  16. Newquay v St Newlyn East has been postponed. Newquay’s floodlights still not working.

  18. St Newlyn East 0-0 Foxhole A below par performance from Saturday’s win for Newlyn with Foxhole probably the happier side with a draw. Neither side really threatened to break the deadlock and Newlyn were left ruing some late one on one’s that they should have finished. Foxhole also had a late opportunity to snatch all points. Unfortunately both sides were left ‘in the dark’ when referee Tootle called the game to a halt for bad light with concerns for player safety in the diminishing light with 10 minutes plus injury time still left to be played in the second half. Not sure what this means for the fixture as have heard that if a game gets to a certain point the result stands but also know that both halves should be of equal time! Guess it’s one for the ECPL committee to decide as neither club agreed to or were asked for shorter halves before kick-off! Good luck to Foxhole for the rest of their season.
  19. Just my personal opinion.... I thought overall we deserved the win in what was the first of 3 tough opening ECPL fixtures for us (Foxhole and Mt Gould our next 2 league games - ouch!). We were the better side in the first half and deserved our three goals which possibly should have been more if we had taken our opportunities - the second a great goal starting with our GK and no St Dom player touching the ball before we scored following a fine move down the right culminating in a header from close range. We lost our CB at half-time to injury which changed the game even further for the second half when we already knew St Dom would come out all guns blazing, bouyed up after their late first half goal - a well taken free kick. However we also felt aggrieved that the St Dom keeper was not dismissed for a 'clumsy' challenge in the first half that brought down our striker when through on goal with just the keeper to beat! St Dom probably had the majority of possession in the second half but I felt we had the better of the chances - missing an open goal and hitting the post. St Dom scored with another well taken quick free-kick with 10 minutes remaining in the game that we need to learn from. Some good football played and tough challenges from both sides throughout. Good luck to St Dominick for the rest of the season. I hope that Kieran's injury isn't as bad as it sounds. Jiggy, SNEFC Manager
  20. St Newlyn East 1-4 Stoke Climsland Deserved win for the visitors today against an out of sorts home side who produced without question our worst performance of the season Stoke came with the bare 11 and outworked and outplayed us in every position, winning all first and second balls. 5 goals in the game with only 1 goal for each team of any real quality. Am trying to find something positive about our performance today but am really struggling. Time for a glass of wine I think.... Congratulations to Stoke Climsland - good luck in the next round. Jiggy, Manager
