Falmouth only team left with 100% record and we’re not into September yet! Gonna be a good league this season as we’ve already said Deacs!! 👍️. Bodmin 14th,  Blazey 10th,  Wendron 2nd  😳🤔😳 great league already!! What’s going on! 👍️ Funny old game as they say!

Liskeard are the only other team apart from Falmouth who remain unbeaten. However, you get the impression that lots of teams are capable of beating each other this season.

Hope Town can keep their momentum going on Saturday at Wadebridge.

Did "The Waltz" add to his tally?

He certainly did after drawing foul for a penalty to Lanson! Brings so much to The Clarets. Think he loves reprising the Panto Villain role! Keeps opposing defenders on their toes for a full 90 mins. Waltz worth the adnission money alone!

Will do a match report tomorrow, but Launceston were fantastic in every department. Fully deserved the win over the usually impressive Bridgers!

Lanson 3 Wadebridge 0

What a performance from the Lanson boys! Energetic, organised,  committed and superb in every department last night. The Waltz reprising his panto villain role to great effect again. Clarets won most 50/50s and were first to most second balls. With a very tough first 6 fixtures W3 L3 is a very creditable start by Dan Hart's team. Every department not only did its job but bettered a usually impressive Bridger team.

22 Mins a penalty won & dispatched by the Waltz! 29 mins stooping low header from Stidson and 2-0  Deserved too! Predictably the visitors had lots of possession in the second 45, yet arguably Launceston still created more with lively counter attacking moves. This was no more better illustrated than a glorious solo Hamson goal on 86 mins  The curling shot around the away keeper was sublime.

Dan Hart clearly providing good shape & organisation. A mostly youthful side will be inconsistent whilst the team develops. It will get bumped heavily by the very vest sometimes, but Lanson season is defined by results against those expected to be in the bottom half of the SWPL. Most though bottom 3 a given at the season start, but I can see the input Dan Hart is having!  Outside the bottom 6 a real possibility I think. That would be progress!

Negatives? None really! Sone robust challenges and a testy gane at times. Referee was disappointing  Lost a bit of control which didn't help the game.

Bridgers are an excellent outfit, but created little with their possession. They are capable of much better. Just an off day for them.

A complete team performance. Well done Clarets!

Ivybridge Town 1-2 Torpoint AFC

A return to the scene of our mauling last season where we found ourselves 3-0 down within the opening 7 minutes, so my nerves were slightly heightened heading into this one.

With the game barely minutes old, Thompson had an opportunity to put us 1 up but was denied by Gregory. From playing the ball out, my brother turned to me and said "I'm not sure their keeper's positioning is too sensible", referring to his high position outside of his box. Within minutes, Ivy gave the ball away 25 yards from goal under Torpoint pressure. Gregory, in the aforementioned no man's land was a spectator as Damerell went past and slotted into an empty net. Torpoint continued the pressure and had the ball in the net again when a Heveran set piece found the older sibling for what looked like his 53rd of the season... Alas, the whistle went and Smithy had his flag up. Marginal but not too debatable. The visitors found themselves in again minutes later when a beautiful crossfield ball from Richards was volleyed by Hird into the path of an onrushing Thompson who could only cut onto his left foot and see the ball float over the bar. On the stroke of HT, finally a chance for Thompson to get a goal for his hard work but when drawing the defender laid it left for Richards to touch and strike home. 0-2 HT.

Prior to the game, I'd discussed the franticness of Ivybridge off the ball and their undoubted quality on it. Whilst there were spells on the ball, off it they were not their usual energic group. Cue the 2nd half... The manager's words must've stuck with the hosts as Ivy looked to take control of the game and didn't give Torpoint room to breathe on the ball. For what must've been a 10min spell, Torpoint had to defend 8 corners. The delivery from Forward was on the button but both centre halves put their respective efforts wide of Peters' goal. Ivy soon got their goal when a penalty was given. One of those, don't give the opportunity for the man to go down type of challenges. Up stepped Williams to fire home and game well and truly on. Soon after, Ivy were in again through a surprisingly quiet Aplin, a good first touch meant only Peters to beat but the extra touch killed him with the ball heading out for a goal kick. With the pressure building, Torpoint looked to hit where they could on the counter. With 4v2 and 3v1 opportunities, it was the final ball that stopped the attack. Entering the last 10mins and the game all to play for, Torpoint showed their grit to dog out a 3rd 2-1 win on the bounce and our 5th victory in as many games to start the season.

We now look forward to Saturday and the visit of Axminster Town who have started the season well. As always, thank you to Ivybridge for the hospitality.

Watched St Blazey v Penzance,  Blazey fully deserved the win could/should have been by a bigger margin. MoM for Penzance the No7 , for Blazey all the midfield played well but we’re too often bypassed by the long ball, referee had a really good game, let the game flow, no cards. 25 mins of Liam Eddy at the end, unlucky not to have scored. Will need to keep him fit for Blazey to be successful this season.
