Sorry, nearest parking for buses is approximately 5.6 miles away and drums are not permitted in case they wake the horse next door. mattelot, TheolderIgetthebetterIwas, Thecupfootballblogger and 2 others 2 3

Perhaps the 2016 one can be a little omen for us in regards to it being Mike’s first competitive game as manager as well as Steve Annis reffing that game and Friday night’s. Really looking forward to this one, competitive football for our first team has been a long time coming and a great way to start it back up at The Underlane v Falmouth and their F Troop. Mike Odgers Posted August 7, 2021 Author Report Posted August 7, 2021 Thanks Dave-good piece of trivia -I have noted
The Town Man Posted August 8, 2021 Report Posted August 8, 2021 A bit of a scrappy game the but one Town definitely deserved to win. Wendron provided a quality surface to play football on and lots of improvements to the surrounding areas. Great effort from them considering their comparatively rapid rise to this level. Really liked the remote control car that delivered the match ball for kick off. Nice touch! Although Town had the most of the play first half, they did not really create any real chances other than a succession of corners and a few free kicks. It was from one of these corners that the first goal came. Ward winning a header at the far post and Nixon getting on the end of it to nod it in. The 2nd goal did come from open play with the ball breaking again to Nixon centrally who slotted it past the keeper. 2-0 at half time. One thing of note in the half: Town new signing Andreas Calleja-Stayne really knows how to put in a tackle! It was like going back 20 years when you were allowed to go to ground and put some force into it. I hope other refs allow this through the season as it is good to see.I 2nd half became a bit of a procession to be honest. Town dominated the game and missed quite a few half-chances and one or two excellent ones. Tim Nixon was unlucky not to get his hat-trick. Town justified their position as one of the favourites for the league but may need to be a bit more clinical in the tighter games and to ensure a good goal difference if it comes down to that. Finally, in true Wendron fashion, the weather had the last laugh as it became absolutely freezing by the end of the game. Had to remind myself it was August!
