Barnstaple 2 Saltash 0

Game which I think can be defined on the pitch as 2 halves. If only we'd taken the golden chances in first half we'd be home with 1 if not 3 points.

Barnstaple took the chances 2nd half and won. That's football.

Mind you - the club....no bar all pre, during or post game. No supporters after the game or during. Just us Ashes fans. Felt so sorry for Jane the Barnie sec bless her, she was so upset and embarrassed. No licence to sell alcohol or any food unless frozen (ambient banned so no crisps) according to tea bar staff.

It's NOT Jane, or the players fault and I'm not pointing at them at all but...aiming for Southern League with no supporters in the club celebrating a win.... not good. Its actually a really sad situation to a good laugh on the trip up and back (ah the legend of the Hairy hands of Dartmoor 😂)

Seems to be a sign of the times for some clubs. Only 35 to watch Millbrook on Saturday, not enough gate revenue to pay the officials. Got to hand it o the players and club officials on the way they keep going. Just sad that the village community don't really want football, also those that were there not many went in the club after.

We've played Tilbury at home before Mark, won on penalties I think ,back in the 90s.The Oracle A.K.A. Mike Odgers, will know.

Just looked through the superb Football Club History Database, Falmouth met Tilbury in the 3rd round of the FA Vase of season 1999/2000. They drew 1-1 at Bickland, and then lost on penalties after the replay finished goalless.

Long old trip to deepest Essex, no doubt Mike Odgers will be able to provide more detail.

A round trip of 612 miles, not the longest though, that goes to Bedilington Terriers in 2000/2001 at 956 miles out and back.  We've had a few long trips over the years: https://www.falmouthtownafc.co.uk/longest-trips-falmouth-town-afc-on-the-road/

Some good responses to this topic in a thread from a few years back.

Millbrook has had the same problem for many seasons. To be honest it is amazing they are still continuing. But credit to the committee and players for fighting on
