Falmouth Res 3-1 Wendron Res

Took a visit to Bickland, lovely evening, enjoyable game.

Crowd 156 (I was told this followed on from last weeks first home game  125 v Redruth Res).

Great attendances with firsts playing at the weekends.

Good competitive game between two sides both playing attractive football. Well done both teams 👏👏

liskeard 3-3 st minver, very young impressive liskeard side should of won tonight played lovely stuff dominating possession, minver keeper making some top saves, liskeard also scoring two screamers, 4 points off them & foxhole is a great start.

Yeah i would agree, absolutely delighted for Sarge and Mike with their new squad, average age of 20, playing some lovely football, patient play, kept the ball for long spells and didnt panic when they went 3-1 down against a mature, solid St Minver side.Three rockets from outside the area from Tre, Savi and Jacob Brown, all great individual strikes to keep the crowd entertained. The fact they came off the pitch disappointed they hadn’t won shows how many chances we created and the relief was evident on the St Minver faces when the final whistle blew. Think the crowd enjoyed a lovely display of football from our young squad and the future is looking bright for Liskeard Athletic

Great attendances. Falmouth as a club, over a number of years now, seem to be steadily moving in the right direction on and off the pitch. Wendron also doing the same, again without any drama. Saying that, a lot of hard must have gone in behind the scenes at both clubs, but it seems that people want to help as they feel part of something. I wonder what the biggest league match attendance for the St Pirans League is ?

I also agree. As a spectator at the game yesterday the young Liskeard team did play some lovely football although as did St Minver. In the first half St Minver appeared to be the more potent of the two sides creating more and better chances which led to them deservedly going into the first half 2-1 up with Liskeard’s goal coming from a very good hit from outside the box and St Minvers coming from a fortunate own goal but great work before-hand down the left side and their second from a corner just on the cusp of half time.  However, in second half Liskeard were the better of the two sides and did see the majority of the ball but St Minver defended resolutely requiring two more fantastic strikes from outside the area to level things up. I think on another day St Minver could have easily have walked away with the three points had it not been for three fantastic induvial strikes but on the whole I believe the draw was a fair result and both teams should be happy with a point each. A great advert for Cornish football and I look forward to seeing more games at Lux Park this season!

An entertaining game at Kellaway last night, Helston Reserves bolstered with some of the 1st team squad members seeking valuable game time may have been expected to dominate the game however it was the visitors who owned the majority of this fixture with a great refreshing display of hard-working 4 4 2 football.

1st half belonged to Perranwell, going in at half-time 1 up having hit the bar twice, having a goal scratched off for a dubious off-side (from my perspective being practically inline) and the young Helston keeper making a fantastic double save to keep the scoreline down. Helston had spells of possession but was kept to shots from outside the area and rarely troubled the Perran keeper.

Half time and Helston came out sharper and this time pressing higher up the pitch and looking to attack the flanks. An equaliser came around the hour mark in the form of a set-piece taken by Tom Payne who put the ball to the back post for Harrison Jewell to head back across goal and Kai Cornish to head home.

For the next 15, the game opened up with chances for both teams being created however it was Perranwell who got the winner. The long ball forward was well held up by the forward who laid it back into midfield for the ball to be put down the line for the on-rushing wide player to put a lovely ball to the back post where the opposite winger volleyed home on the run - was a decent goal.

Remaining period of the game Perran tired and Helston began to camp higher up the pitch but just couldn't work a meaningful chance.

A well-officiated game, Perranwell were worthy winners with Ketan Cooper in midfield being MoTM (in my opinion) and Helston displaying some great young footballers.

Tuesday 22nd August 2023
Newquay 0 Foxhole 4 (Dingle 8, Reed-Bennett 62, 81, 86)

They were made to work hard but a strong second half showing capped by a fine hat-trick from substitute Reed-Bennett secured the Foxes' first victory of the campaign. A great advantage played by the referee after a foul on the excellent Couch had allowed Dingle to open the scoring, his strike from fifteen yards eluding Morey-McKenna, who would soon show great agility to twice deny Bould. The home team went closest to an equaliser when Prynn saved well from Preston, and there was little between the teams by the end of a feisty first half. Reed-Bennett made it 2-0 when he swivelled to blast home just after the hour mark, by which time the visitors had asserted some measure of control, only for Newquay team to squander the opportunity to reduce the arrears when Prynn brilliantly launched himself to his left to keep out a penalty awarded against Damerell for hands. Moore then saw red after an altercation with Smith-Brokenshire, and Foxhole fully exploited the extra space. First Reed-Bennett shot home from a yard after Morey-McKenna had somehow stopped Rowe's close-range effort before Reed-Bennett capitalised on hesitant defending to finish left-footed from the edge of the box. Couch was unfortunate to be adjudged offside when following up Rowe's drive, but the destination of the points had long since been settled.

Foxhole (4-3-3): James Prynn; Tim Peers, Zach Smith-Brokenshire, Lee Rickard, Angel Coates; Aaron Beresford, Jake Couch, Nathan Allen; Benno Bould, Chris Kilbey, Jowan Dingle. Subs: Levi Kerrigan, Charlie Prynn, Luke Damerell, Courtney Rowe, Lee Reed-Bennett.

Newquay: Dan Morey-McKenna; Jayden Kempthorne, Ollie Butterworth, Tyler Moore, Owen Royes, Lucas Moses, Alfie Brown, Ben Piper, Johnny Coleman, Lucas Preston, Ben Holden. Subs: Tommi Jay Harding, Fred Veale, Drew Brion.

Well played the super Foxes. Good luck to Newquay. Many thanks to Andrew Jenkin and the home lino.

Next up...
Saturday 26th August Foxhole v St Stephen (3pm)

St Blazey Res 10v0 St Stephens. Att.153

St Blazey began their league campaign in style with ten goals and a clean sheet. The young man in goal for St Stephens made some good saves as well. Not alot he could do with the goals. Just the one mistake.

St Blazey looked fitter and sharper and could have a strong season. Only time will tell.

Good crowd there tonight.
