Trelawny results 6th September 2017

Recommended Posts

Carharrack Reserves took a lucky 3 points after relinquishing an early 2 - 0 lead then having a player sent off. Against the run of play there was an 81st minute winner, a Ryan Whitbread header from a free kick. He'd opened the scoring in the 19th minute and 5 mins later Mitch Hann added the second. Rosudgeon pulled one back in the last action of the 1st half and equalised on 57 mins after which they mainly pinned the reds back.

Both 'keepers made outstanding saves.

Free entry and tea still 50p in a china mug! Bliss!

Newlyn NA Res 3 (0) -v- (2) 4 St Buryan Res

Late late drama at the theatre of swimming tonight as St Buryan finally overcame a spirited Newlyn comeback to grab the mid-week honours. Newlyn had the chance to return to the summit of the league tonight with a win, and looked healthy prior to kick-off with roughly 84 willing players. St Buryan too appeared healthy in team numbers, a little more surprising given that their 1st team was also in action tonight. Furthermore, the pitch looked healthiest of all with a shagpile feel to the surface.

The away team started well, and looked organised, with a "sturdy" back line, solid midfield and sprightly youngsters. The opening goal came directly from a free-kick, harshly awarded but swiftly sent on its way from 20 yards into the back of the net. Newlyn were threatening, and the away keeper made a couple of good saves. However, Buryan looked dangerous on the break, and were awarded a penalty after about 30 minutes, again duly despatched into the net. Half time 2 nil to Buryan.

Second half was a different story, with Newlyn much more settled and threatening. Their opening goal was a tad fortunate, from the penalty spot, frankly, mistakingly given. The second goal was not fortunate however, with good work down the right wing and a fierce shot giving the keeper no chance. At 2-2, it seemed it was Newlyn who were favourite to win, and as the half wore on, they finally went into the lead to make it 3-2. newly continued to press, but Buryan stood strong, and were always in with a chance on the break. After forcing a corner down their right wing, they eventually equalised after a bit of penalty area ping-pong, and it looked like the game would end even.

But, with Buryan's supporters screaming at the ref to blow up for full time, convinced we had played over the allotted period, Newlyn pressed and tried to force a winner, only to be caught on the break, and with an opportunity presenting itself from 25 yards, a fine low shot by the Buryan attacker flew across the grass into the net. Phew......3-4, and virtually the last kick of the game.

Good luck to Buryan for the season.

ST BURYAN FC 3 HALSETOWN FC 3

Five miles to the east of Lands End in Cornwall, you come across the beautiful village of St Buryan which houses the village football club. On arrival I found that this match was to be played on the second pitch, as on the main pitch, there were a few people putting up a marque for a fancy wedding at the weekend.

The game kicked off and St Buryan were first out the blocks, forcing the visiting keeper in to a superb save when he pushed the ball over the crossbar, but from the resulting corner on 3 minutes, he couldnt do much as EDDIE HOLDEN scooped low to head the homesters in to a early lead.

St Buryan kept pushing forward whilst Halsetown played on the counter attack and after 21 minutes muster their first real effort  straight at the home keeper. Halsetown then began to come more in to the game and stepped up a gear, so after 25 minutes, a low cross saw DAVE WALTON slide home the equalizer.

The game swung from end to end at a fast pace and several chances went begging for both sides, but after 42 minutes, St Buryan found themselves with a four on two attack, the ball played to the right wing and the cross was timed perfect for BILLY HOLDEN to place home in to the empty net to give his side a 2-1 half time lead.

The Second Half began with the visitors looking for a way back in to the game by pressing forward and in the 53rd minute, a trip in the area saw them awarded a penalty, to which CHRIS GOODALL dispatched to level the game up.

The visitors then continued to pepper the home area without any success and came very close to taking the lead when the home keeper pushed a shot on to the near post before gathering on 62 minutes.

On 69 minutes, St Buryan took the lead for the third time in the game, when JOSS SULLIVAN-NORCLIFFE slid the ball home to make it 3-2, but in a topsy turvey game, there was no rest, as from the kick off, Halsetown pushed forward and the Assistant club referee raised his flag for offside, whilst the referee pointed to the spot for the second time in the game for the visitors, the ref went over to the Assistant and then returned for CHRIS GOODALL to fire home his second penalty of the game and his sides third goal to make it 3-3.

The last ten minutes, the game slowed down and both sides looked as if they were happy with a share of the points in a game which was possibly the right result.

A very friendly club with a nice bar, well worth a visit

Divsion 2 (6:15pm ko)

Storm Fc (2) vs Four lanes (0)

it was storms 1st home game of the season to a well drilled four lanes, it was a lively opening to the game with stoms Ricky moon forcing a number of saves from the four lanes keeper who was in great form between the sticks, the midfield of Jonny jones, Barry penfold and Shaun Isaacs were solid and dictated the game at will pulling all the strings for storm.

It was then Barry penfold to step up to make it 2 pens in 2 games after the on rushing keeper brought down Owen on his 1st game for storm, the keeper made a mends for the penalty with a fine save to his bottom right corner to keep it level at 0-0, within minutes of the saved penalty it was once again the on rushing keeper that brought down Owen for another spot kick which seen him pick up a yellow card could easily of been a red but the referee who had a good game decided with the yellow, this time is was Jonny jones to step up and step up he did with a perfectly placed pen leaving the keep with no chance 1-0 storm.

Storm kept up the pressure and soon found them selfs 2 goals up after strong hold up play from storms captain Ricky moon who's saved shot led to a corner, the towering Barry penfold leaped the highest to make a mends from his saved penalty with a thumping header (2-0 storm

in the 2nd half four lanes came out guns blazing to try get back in the game, but the experience back 3 of Ryan baber, Ben perarson and manger James Isaacs was soiled and rarely put a foot wrong, James Isaacs jr made 2 fine saves in the storm goal to ensure he kept a clean sheet and the 3 points

Storm Fc (2) Four lanes (0)

Last night saw New Inn Titans visit inform West Cornwall res in the first local derby of the season. Both teams started well playing neat football. Titans took the lead when the ball was put wide for the impressive Barku, his pace and strength held off the leftback and unleashed a left foot drive into the top corner. Ten minutes later Titans were awarded a penalty which the West Cornwall keeper saved.
Not long before half time West Cornwall broke away and were awarded a penalty themselves. The taker scored to take the game to ht 1.1
Wise words and a couple changes at the break and Titans grew into the 2nd half getting stronger as the game went on. Titans took the lead after Hamblin poked home after much pressure. Both sides worked hard and West Cornwall were impressive on the ball. Titans sealed the point when Young smashed in an unstoppable bullet header from a corner. Top effort guys.

West Cornwall 1 New Inn Titans 3

Scorers;
Levi Barku
Warren Hamblin
Craig Young

All the best too West Cornwall. Top fellas. Great game.

Wasn't a great game for Probus - easy to make excuses that due to time and traffic Probus had a bare 11 at ko and not even time for a basic warm up - players injured and players playing out of position BUT result was  fair on the night and Falmouth undoubtedly feel aggrieved over the penalty decision ( the 'winger' fouled is normally a CB and he felt it was a fair tackle!!)

Falmouth have some very decent players and will work their way up the table.

The lads(s) injured:

The one with stud marks from below his collar bone, across his face and to the top of his head - is sore but was ugly before the challenge so will be fine. No intent by the young Fal lad with the high boot and yellow card was probably about right.

The lad (captain) who went off near the end has some bad ligament damage and will be out for a couple of months. Just another one to add to the list.

Good luck to Falmouth for rest of season - as said some good honest players who work hard for each other.

Glad he's okay. Yeah the penalty decision was completely bizarre, still trying to get my head around that now - but I thought Probus were on top of the game for longer spells, a draw was fair.

Shame he is injured it looked really unfortunate, the high boot is what referees often refer to as an "orange card" - because it was dangerous and reckless but it was obvious to everyone he only had eyes for the ball so it was a little unfortunate at the same time.

Looks as though Falmouth used six substitutes in this match

No, it's not. They've made a mistake when filling it in. You're supposed to only tick for "used subs" but they've included all of their subs instead. I was at the game and they only used three.

The 'unregistered player' was, I think the big centre back, who was signed on prior to the game and perfectly legit.

Falmouth only played three subs, it was hard to tell how many players they actually had there as they had a decent group of 'supporter' who were all with the coaches and subs.  As you say Tempo I'm sure it was just an error filling out the FullTime site - certainly not been raised as an issue from anyone at Probus.
