Newlyn Lions 1-2 St Agnes Reserves

Four divisions divided these two teams but you could not tell on the day. A very close game that ebbed and flowed. Being slightly biased we (Lions) should have had 2 penalties but we conceded 2 sloppy goals and you just can't give higher division sides that sort of encouragement.

At 1-1 we were the team playing the better football and really probing Aggies defence. But it wasn't to be so best of luck to St Agnes in the next round.

Halsetown 0-2 Trispen

A spirited second half from Halsetown but they couldn't find a breakthrough that may have made a difference.

We (trispen) could have gone in at halftime at least 6 up but some poor finishing and inspired goalkeeping kept it to 1 nil.

Slightly worrying that the same trend of not putting away chances is happening week in week out currently. On a plus side we are creating them. Only a matter of time til a few more fly in.

Good luck to Halsetown for the season.

West Cornwall 12-1 Falmouth DC

Pretty comfortable afternoon. A young Falmouth side who I believe are in their 1st season? Our overplaying at the back let them in a couple of times and they took one of those chances but it was one way traffic for the most part.

Just to balance the ref bashing over the last week or so that we seem to be accused of. Andrew Stocks took the game today, although it was a pretty routine afternoon for him, he let the game flow and think he only blew up about 3 times for a foul. One of the biggest compliments you can give is you wouldn't know he was there. We'll done Sir!

Many of the results on the long list are wrong, be it the scoreline or in a couple of cases I can see the actual winning teams!!!! How can this be such an easy thing to do yet it's wrong again and again?!

Hope no player is making their debut today or has that rule changed with the CCFA?

Ron is correct I rang steve carpenter to confirm it. As long as your registered before the game you can play. I dont know if you can sign before the game as with normal league games however. I think its alot as well. I had a lad turn 16 last Friday and the following Saturday had no fixture so by old rules he would be unavailable even though he signed on in July with the rest of the squad.

That rule has been changed Mike. As long as your registered you can play. Good news in my opinion.

Camborne Ath 1-5 Perranwell Res (0-2 h/t)

It was very level for the 1st half hour both sides having great chances with opposite defence and goalkeepers doing really well to keep everything out.

Perranwell went 1.0 up from a Louis Goss mistake basically passed Perranwells striker the ball who I don't know his his unselfishly played it to an unmarked team mate for a simple tap in. Perranwell made it 2.0 in the 43rd min I think from a pen. Where I was it looked like the player ran into our keeper n tripped over but the ref had a different angle n opinion to mine but it id say he was more than likely to got it spot on.

2nd half Athletic come out better to start with pulling a goal back within 5 mins from a debut from conor Morgan who had been on for 5 mins crossing it in to matty knurek to head it into the back of the shed.. Perranwells answer to that was to score an absolutely amazing goal I wish I knew the lads name to name n fame him cos best goal iv seen in a while ran through a crowd of players n scored a fantastic finish. Perranwell was denied a 4th from a dave rowe goal line clearance before another Louis goss mistake alouded the visitors to go 4.1 up followed by a jamie Morgan mistake in the 85th to go 5.1 up. Although it could have been a much higher score in the 2nd half from both sides literally end to end football with both teams have ALOT of chances. Well done to Perranwell hope u guys do well in the j.c.

Also would like to say it was probably the most enjoyable game iv been involved with in along time. Played in the right spirit. No arguments or bad tackles. Majority of the free kicks where from offsides. No bad language both teams showed respect to each other.

Also would like to thank nigel jewell for reffing the game. Spot on with 99.9% of all decisions.

Good luck to Perranwell hope you can take that form into the rest of your games. A real joy to play against you guys.

Dave,

You are right, both teams showed respect to each other and just got on with the game.No foul language and very few fouls for me to deal with.Very enjoyable match to referee.

For you lads from Division Five to put up a show like that against a Premier League team shows that you are building in the right way.

The penalty was awarded because the Perranwell striker controlled the ball and pushed it past the on-rushing goalkeeper.Your keeper,Jamie?,came sliding out and couldn't control the slide and knocked over the Perranwell player.Clear cut penalty.

The Perranwell striker's name was Andy Senior who jinked to the left and then fired the ball high into the opposite corner of the net.Good finish.

I am so sorry cb I will endeavour to be more positive in the future, after all, all of you're comments directed towards me have always been pleasurable..... Needless to say this is a public forum and I like you am entitled to write whatever within reason I like, and will continue to do so. Thankfully I feel comments made by yourself towards games/results/general opinon is laughable which many of us have a chuckle too.

Please keep it coming though, I do enjoy it.

Thankyou. Have a great season to Exciles.

Great physical battle, from both sides.

Dont think your side would look out of place, in Our league (div 3)

You were hungrier on the day, and we didn't take our chances.

You had 3chances, (1 which was an own goal) and you scored 3 goals.

Good bunch of lads there, and wish you all the best from Four Lanes FC

Thanks mate as I said just angles but I wouldn't argue any of your decisions yesterday. I know you are a very good ref and for you to award a pen then it must be a pen. As for andys goal yes it was a very good goal. The keeper was jamie our regular keeper has a back injury. So jays return since last season was a very good effort. It was a great game to be apart of despite the result I think everyone enjoyed it and I hope it helps Perranwell with a confidence boost in the future. Thanks for reffin yesterday for us.

Helston 3rds 2 V Newbridge Athletic 3

Very disappointing result for us....in a game that we dominated, but found ourselves 1-0 down after 15 minutes after some sloppy play at the back. Chance after chance came hitting the bar a couple of times and the Newbridge keeper having one of those days when he saved everything with any part of his body! We eventually got our equaliser from a fine run and finish from Fraser Paterson. Second half we continued to dominate but were caught on the counter twice and found ourselves 3-1 down. After more pressure, hitting the crossbar twice more and more outstanding saves from the keeper we got one back when shane miller volleyed home. Five minutes left...game on. Continued to mount the pressure, and then the game ended in a very controversial manor which should of seen the game go into extra time.

Well played to Newbridge, some good players, lad up front was quick and a handful, and the keeper was undoubtedly man of the match.

Good luck in the next round

Helston Athletic 3rds 2-3 Newbridge Athletic

Newbridge started this game well knowing this was going to be a hard game against a tough Division 3 opponent. Helston opted to go up hill first giving Newbridge centre. The two league difference certainly didn't show in this game and Newbridge held there own through out the game. Helston had an early effort that was well dealt with by the Newbridge keeper Aaron Jones. Then Newbridge took the lead. Gareth Charles put pressure on the Helston defender after a short pass from his keeper, he struggled to keep him at bay and James Tregay took the ball off him to put the visitors infront by taking it round the keeper and finding the empty net. This clearly riled the Helston team and they made a number of fouls. Helston had a chance to level with some neat passing in midfield broke down the left hand side. Helston felt they was going to score but once again Aaron stuck out a leg to make and excellent save. Newbridge then had another free kick in their own half and that was cleared out for a corner. From the corner the ball was cleared for Helston to counter attack they rushed through, beat one midfielder and defender to go one on one with Aaron and Fraser Paterson took it round the keeper to level the scores. Helston had another opportunity to put themselves in front but another save from Aaron prevented the goal only to slip over when the ball was in the air. Aaron tried to catch it whilst on the floor but the ball hit him, but defender Kyle Jones came in behind to tidy up to keep the scores level. Again another chance for Helston a shot was deflected with Aaron anticipating the original effort, whilst on the floor the rebound was then blocked by Kyle Jones throwing himself in front of it and hitting him in the face. Then came another freekick for Newbridge, Gareth crossed the ball in and Kyle put it just over the bar. The scores level at half time 1-1.

Newbridge very happy with the scoreline at half time pushed on in the second and were the much better team for most of the half. A few chances came and went with nothing coming from them. Gareth played the ball out to Elliot Baker who ran down the right hand side to put in a pinpoint cross for James Tregay to put Newbridge back in front. James had another chance to score but the ball came back off the post. James having been carrying an injury then came off, Newbridge manager made changes with a bit of a shuffle round Elliot Baker went up front, having no recognized strikers left. But it was Newbridge who double their advantage to put the scoreline at 3-1 Gareth put another ball through to Elliot, Elliot showed great composure to chip it over the top on the on rushing keeper. Newbridge continued the pressure but with 20 minutes to go Helston went up a gear to try to get back in the game. They had another one on one attempt but Aaron spread his body well and the effort came back off the post and was then covered by Aaron. They scored after a succession of corners, the corner was punched away from Newbridge keeper but it was volleyed back in by Shane Miller, it took a deflection on the way through and went into the back of net. Helston continued this pressure with several attempts. Aaron kept Helston at bay with a string of world class saves that any keeper would be proud of. A long shot was caught with a diving save. One effort looked for sure it was going in but Aaron got a hand to the ball and tipped it onto the bar and Ben Montgomery cleared the rebound. With just a few minutes to go Helston had another couple of corners but were both punched away from Aaron, with seconds to go Helston player broke into the box and was taken out for what everyone including ourselves thought it was a blatant penalty but only for the ref to be facing the opposite direction blowing the whistle which again must have seemed like he gave the penalty but instead it was the full time whistle. Helston rightfully aggrieved to not get the penalty and have a chance at leveling the score but over all it was a deserved win for Newbridge who put in 100% from start to finish.

Man of the Match: As both teams agreed it was Keeper Aaron Jones with a 10/10 performance
