Immaculately observed silence at Newquay v Camelford (except for one dog!). Don't know if it was one minute or two. Officials wore poppies on their shirts.
  2. Newquay 1-2 Camelford Newquay probably deserved something on the basis of their second half performance, but in the end were made to pay for their first half frailties as they went out of the Senior Cup. Camelford were the better team in the first half, the Newquay defence looked like they were midfield players having to play in the back four, no pace, no organisation, no physicallity, particulary on the right hand side where the full back looked completely out of his depth. However, despite the Camels superiority they only scored twice, with the two goals being split by a Newquay equaliser, a text book header from the very right back I was maligning earlier. Credit to the Newquay management for totally sorting out the defence during the half-time team talk, and after the break it was their turn to have the lion's share of possession and chances, only to meet a Camelford keeper in fine form and were unable to find a second equaliser. Very impressed with the pace and talent of the Newquay no. 7 who looked head and shoulders the best player on the pitch. There was one strange sequence of events midway through the second period. A Camelford forward and the Newquay keeper went up together for a high ball, collided mid-air with the keeper coming down with the ball in his hands. Play continued with the Camels player still on the floor, and maybe 10 seconds later the ref blew up fearing a head injury. Then he went and spoke with his assisstant and pointed to the penalty spot. Cue incensed Newquay players, one of whom was booked and then suddenly the decision had become a Newquay free kick! This time it was the visitors players who were audibly unhappy, saying "You can't change decisions like that ref", with the man in black's response being "I'm the ref, I can change what I want!"

The FA ruining non league football

Agreed it's a stupid move, but clubs have known about this since May 2017. It can't have come as a big surprise to them.

    SWPL 3rd Round draw

On or before 1st Jan. Nice symmetry of 8 Cornish clubs and 8 Devon clubs.

    Trevor Mewton game posts

Agree. Posting the same thing across multiple sub-forums is just spamming.
  6. Any reason why the first round of the Senior Cup has to kick off at 2pm? There's plenty of time/light for a regular 3pm kick-off, even if the game does go to extra time and penalties. Might make it a little easier for clubs to get teams out for those longer distance trips.

    Clubs you hate/dislike very strongly

The top teams I dislike are Barnstaple Town and Yeovil Town, plus whoever happens to be employing Luke McCormack at the time.
  8. Falmouth by far the better team in the first half, but didn't create too many clear cut chances, and paid for it after the break when Launceston took two of theirs. Bickland is still the most iconic ground in Cornwall, even if parts of it look like they have been abandoned to nature, and if this is its last season, I'm glad I went back there one more time. Really disappointed in the reaction of some Falmouth supporters after a melee in the box saw a home player making some sort of contact with his boot to the Launceston keeper's head, luckily it turned out not to be too serious, but the homophobic abuse from one home supporter (wearing a Ferrari F1 jacket), was completely uncalled for and I thought we'd got this sort of thing out of football some time ago.
