Taunton it is!

Here’s a very interesting hypothesis - Taunton go bang. The White Tigers become The White Cuckoos and relocate permanently to Taunton and then the moneybags CCFA take over Langarth and relocate with brand new facilities and pitches for their headline finals.

That sounds more realistic than Truro starting at Langarth next season!

It was pretty widely known last week that Taunton had been placed on a transfer embargo. Would be very interesting to know when the two clubs starting talking about a ground share.

One needed a new pitch in a hurry, the other desperately needed an injection of cash.

Win - win hopefully. The Taunton ground itself has plenty of old school character. Rather that than the new Lego stadiums at all levels.

Its rediculous Truro having to travel all the way to Taunton to play there home matches dont care about there fans much can they why dont they come to Newquay and play on the Godolphin pitch lots of Cornish football fans would love to go there and watch top class football ,it would only until they have there own pitch up and running in Truro just a thought

A Step 2 club to play at Godolphin?! This is the daftest suggestion *ever* The ‘facilities’ there wouldn’t make Step 5 level!

Never mind the home games, I’m sure Truro will turn up for the annual pre-season stroll at Bickland 😉

The soap opera continues at Taunton as Chair Kevin Sturmey is now described as being "off sick for the foreseeable future."

Their home match due for tonight v Torquay has fallen foul of a waterlogged pitch, the 4th time it's been cancelled I believe. This leaves the small matter of 20 home league games to be played in little over 10 weeks for them and Truro on a Wordsworth Drive pitch that sounds like it's in a terrible state.

Don't think it will come to this (and that the games will somehow get played) but what is the sanction for not completing a league season?

Strong rumours they might not fulfill the fixtures at all and pull out the league. Would imagine that a last  resort but already another load of refunds need paying

weeks and weeks of no home. Fixtures must takes it toll at that level  with zero income coming anywhere and big wages coming out.

There are Internet rumours flying around that they are about to go into admistration (some even suggesting they would cease trading altogether). Could be rubbish, but then again the suggestion that Truro would switch their ground share to Taunton seemed far fetched a few weeks ago.

Any business that spends out money with limited money coming in are surely likely to encounter financial difficulties.

I’d imagine that they are rumours though given that they’ve recently given a new contract to Stewart Yetton.

Just to clarify, the rumours surround Taunton going into administration and definitely not Truro.

What has actually happened at Taunton? Good crowds for a few years as well as reaching the FA Cup 1st round.

I know Westcountry teams tend to have further to travel (maybe not so much this year in NLS) but have they genuinely spent more than they could afford on players?

Just plain old over reach it would seem. As story that is as old as the hills in the world of non league football.

  • 1 month later...

Taunton almost, almost got a home match played last night. Game v Weston was on at 1pm, and then off by 5.25pm.

Truro due to be "home" to Eastbourne on Tuesday night (19th March). The usual "will they, won't they and where" coming up?

No home matches scheduled for Gloucester City next midweek....

(Now just the 18 home games for City and Taunton in the remaining 35 days of the NLS season).
