Penwith Exiles 5-1 Mawnan

very close game for the first 30 minutes, Mawnan having a few chances and also a few created ourself. We took the lead with the last kick of the first half. 2nd half was a lot better from ourselves knocking the ball around smoothly at times. Great results for us only one more win now!

Div 2

Chacewater 5  Falmouth Town 2  h/t 3-0

Falmouth hit a post with a penalty after 10 mins and Chacewater broke for Sean Preston to lob the retreating keeper from 40 yards.Almost immediately Tyler Caddy added a second gaol and Ian Jenkins scored a third just before the break, still time for Jason Gribble to save another Falmouth penalty though.

Falmouth came out all guns firing at the start of the second half and pulled two goals back around the 55th minute mark.Chacewater weathered the storm and Tom Hawkey was in the right position to score from close range following a corner.Tyler Caddy wrapped things up when he blocked an attempted clearance late on with the ball rebounding into the net.

Chacewater moved themselves off the bottom of the table with this performance, just shows what teamwork, effort and organisation came do.

Match well officiated by Kevin Wilkinson although there wasn't a bad challenge in the match.

Div 4

Penzance 1-3 St Buryan

Fairly even game but a couple of mistakes from Pz gave it away. Attendance was 31 at one time but most drifted away with about twenty to go because of the cold wind. Referee did well but at the end of the match got into an argument with the Saints lino for some reason. Must have ruined the ref's enjoyment of the game. Pity.

Newlyn ath 4-3 lizard. Not a bad bunch down at newlyn, some decent players, number 12 upfront a real handful. Newlyn keeper man of the match, made three or four saves in a space of seconds. Newlyn wanted it more and with our injuries and missing players over rowing the Scillies newlyn capitalised. Well done newlyn.

I think the Lizard keeper was man of the match to be fair. Good game though. Chances at both ends, better ones fell to Newlyn, but couldn't nail them. Certainly a hard fought victory. Unlucky Lizard.

St Just Reserves 1 Probus 1

We knew it was going to be a tough game and so it proved. We didn't get going at all today and we never really got to grips with the wind, resulting us giving possession away too much. St Just are a very good physical team and they have some very good players.

We started the first half against the strong wind and we were pegged back in our half for long periods. We lost Josh Penrose to a cut head (that required gluing) in the first couple of minutes when he was caught by a St. Just midfielders elbow in an aerial challenge. They had several good chances, mainly from crosses and corners/set pieces. One header from close range was somehow put over from 5 yards and we also dealt ok with some of the other crosses. We were happy to go in at half-time at 0-0.

We came into the game more in the second half but St. Just were still very competitive. We did take the lead with about 15 minutes to go when a superb run from Connor Rhodes ended with him crossing for Issac Hayhurst to tap home from a couple of yards out. The referee played an excellent advantage to allow Connor's run to go on after he was fouled, and he booked the player after we had scored. St. Just then had a few free kicks which we dealt with, but they did equalise when we switched off from a long throw and the wingers shot deflected in.

Overall we were happy with a point after a poor performance against a good team. I thought Mike Carter had a decent game in the middle, but we felt he could have handled 1 or 2 challenges differently. Thanks to St. Just for their hospitality. We have got some tough games coming up if we are to secure the points we need to get promoted and hopefully on Tuesday night we may have a fully fit squad against a very strong Newlyn Lions side in the Russell Hall Cup Final. One thing is for sure we will need to play a lot better than we did today to give Newlyn a game.
