I don’t normally write anything on these forums, this is due to me thinking what do ppl want to hear from me attitude, but on this occasion I read this post and feel compelled to write. So after and still being involved in playing football for over 32 years the shift in village teams folding is scary- Five teams locally where I live are no longer. But I find myself much older now helping the club in what needs to be done in order to help others, I think that’s what we generally do as we get older to put something back into what we got out of it, or maybe we want to be part of something and not wanting to let go of our past, but pointers which may help others- we have a WhatsApp group amongst the older players to talk and sort problems amongst ourselves, apart from the helping and support the manager we have fines for the last player to respond to a message to say they are available and from only getting previously two answers and then having to chase we now have 15 in the first hour of said message going out, at least we know what we have for Saturday, it all sounds silly but makes huge differences. But also we keep the nucleus of local players with only the added two to three players who live half hour away so as to keep the team local, locals to support their club, (been there with larger clubs, new manager with payment and these local clubs losing all there local players for mercenaries coming in and then leaving a club with no players as they all leave) and this season we brought in a second team, not the greatest team but most importantly they are playing and be part of a club they can call their own, but also to have a game every Saturday at home to bring in money for the clubhouse. I understand though this takes years to set up and the many young players today may not realise how good it is/was until you don’t have it anymore. But for all the hard work we all do, it may change someone’s life/smile on their face to play if only for a little bit we just may not know it.

Trelawny League 11 March 2023

Interesting view. One sided but fair enough what your saw, rose tinted glasses possibly?. fair result, great game to play in and was the view of most of Pz players I spoke to. Maybe off par for Pz, or we made you play that way by the style we played? Missing three usual defenders so we started with a back three for the first time rather than four, and forced to play a 352, a battling midfield blessed with breaking the play up, We got the ball in the net only to be a very dubious offside first half, lizard defended very well to stop Pz scoring. Both sides had the chances to score and Pz hit the bar twice. Decent goal for Pz forward-lively player. As for the left hand side for Pz the ball wasn’t moved quick enough so agreement there but no7 was a great player same as no6 . Pitch was boggy for both of us but you played the ball long on a damp surface with the wind first half behind you, no wonder it skidded off the surface to safety. As for our goal a free kick, 30 yards out, knock on and a half volley in to goal. -
Lizard v carharrack. Game forfeited by carharrack. After turning up with seven men which I applaud to get the game started the keeper-I think the manager injured himself and with him not able to play on the game was duly called up by the Ref. Very sad state of affairs for a combo side to have so little players available-can see the side crumbling and a day called on carharrack, I hope not with the history of the club, well done to the six men who apologised profusely for the sad manner in the way the manager performed from the start who I have always had respect for until now. Was it a groin injury for him to go off? -who knows apart from himself. Good luck to carharrack for the season. Prove me wrong and see you at the end of the season.

East select v west select. Would be a cracking game. But who would you choose as players and managers? -

A couple could walk into any peninsula side. -
Newlyn ath 4-3 lizard. Not a bad bunch down at newlyn, some decent players, number 12 upfront a real handful. Newlyn keeper man of the match, made three or four saves in a space of seconds. Newlyn wanted it more and with our injuries and missing players over rowing the Scillies newlyn capitalised. Well done newlyn.

Trelawny League result 26/4
Cola replied to Soccer Follower's topic in Kernow Stone St Piran Lge WEST divisions 2, 3 & 4
Maybe we didn't last night but considering we had six out and had to have a makeshift team with second teamers helping us out I think we did ok. And of some of the players last night playing were carrying injuries, including a 42year old centre back who had a hamstring problem who couldn't run. you could argue penryn are a div 2 side. Thank you for your opinion though skinner. -

Can I ask what the grading is from Trelawney to combo? And how many Trelawney teams have the facilities in place already to move up a level? -

Lowest ranked side to win the Senior Cup?
Cola replied to Sponge's topic in Kernow Stone St Piran Lge EAST divisions 2, 3 & 4
soloman was unstoppable that season. the nanpean side of 1997 had gary penhaligon in goal if I stand correct, I was playing for padstow at the time and they beat us 4-3 with gary penhaligon saving two penalties, think they went on to win the ecpl league that year too.
