Truro's last Conference games

Recommended Posts

Lovers of the beautiful game need to get down (or up) to Treyew Road quickly if they want to witness the highest standard of league football ever seen in Cornwall - or likely to be seen ever again. League leaders Woking are there this Saturday and, if HMRC allow a 28 day deferment after Monday's hearing, 4th placed Welling Utd are due there on November 5th. These and the visit of Tonbridge Angels on November 19th are likely to be Truro's swan songs in the Conference. Why so gloomy? The wording of KH's statement about Monday's hearing quoted in the WMN today: "We have guaranteed them (HMRC) the money with security." During the Argyle farce, he was quoted as saying, of monies due for the take-over: "Proof of security has been provided." If the money is really and truly there in black on a balance sheet, you don't hide behind convoluted wordings as quoted. Both of those quotations therefore really appear to mean "Well, actually, we haven't got the money so can't pay!"

It is awful to write this but there it is. The fantastic journey is virtually over. A superb manager, an amazing team who can really do the necessary and a core of about 400 regular supporters deserve better than to be played around with. All that was ever needed was some honesty when things began to go wrong so that local people and businesses would have felt able to gather round and help out. As it is, the club is a busted flush. Stubbornness, a misplaced ego and bad management (of the club, not the team) have led to the disaster which now looms. At grounds around the Conference South Truro are a laughing stock, or at best pitied, by other fans. I hope I can get down for the Woking game. I don't think there will be the reverse fixture to go and see in April!

Common Tater, I agree with much of what you say, ego & general mismanagement off the pitch have sullied the achievements of a fine group of players on it, the conduct of Lee Hodges and his team has been outstanding despite all that has gone on around them. Every home game throws up yet another disaster, on Tuesday I walked in the ground to find there were no programmes (can we afford fines from the league?!) and now it appears the prog editor has walked out in disgust. This follows on from the appointment of the physio as Secretary after the previous incumbent was sacked for having the audacity to try and do his job properly. Can the club survive? possibly it can (never say never !) but the two people in charge of this fiasco have to go, and soon if the club has a future. Even if Heaney pays the tax bill where does the club go from here? no one wants to volunteer their help - there must be at least fifty bods out there who've had their fingers burnt & no one wants to put money into the club with Heaney in control. The one thing that worries me is the status of the ground, who actually owns it? and what about the money Heaney has borrowed against it?

I dearly hope Truro City has a future

You get more TOSSERS on here than you get in a Pancake race. :clapper:

All previous postings seem quite reasonable to me...unlike yours!

You need to face the facts, TCFC may well be wound up in the next few days or weeks however sad that would be for the players and especially long standing supporters.

I overheard someone saying that there's £1.3m currently borrowed against the ground, not sure how true that is !

It's actually £1.75m that's been borrowed from Lloyds TSB against the ground.

Much as many fans appreciate the standard of football available on Saturday afternoons there comes a point when your conscience tells you that there's been a high price to pay off the pitch for the success that happens on it.

Best of luck to Lee and the boys tomorrow, hope the club gets through this one way or another

I posted on another thread but no-one seemed to reply.

What actually happens if TCFC fold?

Does the whole setup end - all the way down to the youth?

If so, does a new Club have to be formed and would they have to reapply to enter Cornish football with either the Trelawney or Duchy Leagues?

Surely it wouldnt be the case that just the BSQ conf team would fold? What are the overall ramifications for the sides involved here?

Ok - so now Im really confused. You say they would start "from the bottom" but SWPL West is not the bottom is it? Surely the lowest Senior level is Combo/EC1?

And surely any new Club that would have to form would not have Senior status?

Just milling that one over, because if any brand new Club were to form ("Truro United" for example, then they would not automatically have Senior status would they?

Our Club has 2 teams in Junior Football at 2 different divisions. If a side was pulled, the other would continue in one of the Divisions, the Club would be unaffected.

But if the Club were to end, both sides would be pulled and no football payed at any level. If someone then restarted a new Club (new Committee, constitution, etc) then they would have to reapply to join the Duchy League at Div 5 status.

It just seems odd to me and I'd appreciate a bit more info on this one.

Windsor & Eton FC folded when in level 3 - Southern League Premier Division.

Windsor FC was formed the next day and had to drop 2 levels to level 5 Combined Counties Premier Division.

If Truro City folded at level 2 - BS Conference South.

A new Truro may have to drop to level 4 - Southern League Division One South West.

The determining factor is the structure behind the club, if that raises doubts Western league or lower may become their destination.

One thing is certain, they would not drop below the reserves, as two teams from the same club cannot compete in the same league SW Peninsula League Premier Division could be their destination, therefore one SW Peninsular Div 1 team would forfeit promotion, this may not be a problem because clubs in Cornwall have made it clear over the years they don't want promotion to higher standards when winning the Premier division of the Peninsula league.

Viva la Truro - Mr Heaney will win again on Monday making it HMRC 0 Truro City FC 2.

The HMRC is in disarray - in football terms - THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING.

That is why HMRC owe 50% of taxpayers on average a refund of £300 for overpaid tax.

The other 50% are in for a nasty shock.

I am a tax payer although I am 75 years old, the HMRC have taken from me more income tax than they should,

I have supplied them with all the information of my various dealing and here I am 5 months later waiting for answers,

needless to say, still paying more than I should. Truro City FC has said they too were waiting for answers, if it has

happened to me why couldn't the same have happened to Truro City.

The HMRC mess is here for a long time, that's why I think Mr Heaney will win the day.

Answer the question Mountaineer, do you support Tax Dodging Cheats ? If you pay ALL your bills, then you have no problems, be they local businesses or HMRC, simple facts.

Thank you St Darren, yes the stand at St Austell is a good hike up the stairs, quite a way from the pitch and separated by a fence and gate too. You will remember it Mountaineer, it is the same today as it was 50+ years ago when you last visited.

The above answers the question, I worked a full 50+ years, always paid my taxes, was NEVER a Social State SCROUNGER, even retired I still pay tax but it is a fact the HMRC is in a mess, I do not support tax dodgers but no one has shown TCFC in that light, the difference is I am taxed at source, TCFC is not taxed at source, it is a case of TCFC disputing their dealings with the HMRC, they have a legal right to do that.

I have worked in many Industries, some of the biggest in the world, mostly in positions of trust, EVERY ONE of those Industries held onto their cash as long as possible, EVERY ONE challenging their tax demands, with some it was a case of business survival, tricks of the trade are a part of global life whether we like it or not, we have a Parliament full of cheats yet people still vote for them, therefore, we need to question the morals of everyone who dares to vote.

Yes I remember Poltair, St Austell also played cricket there on the same sacred turf Noah Lobb performed his footballing magic, I did my hard tackling on the pitch, tough times then when refs hated blowing their whistles, real boots and real balls.

(I only mentioned it because my MORALS were being unjustly questioned).

I think it is great having a Cornish club doing so well. I hope others show ambition and step up the ladder, afterall it will only improve the standard of football down here in the long run.

I wish Truro City FC all the best of luck I really do. But at the moment even their diehard supporters have to admit Kevin Heaney claims financial wherewithal, which even a Greek government fiddling Eurozone membership would have rejected as “pushing it.”

Mountaineer your loyalty to TCFC is admirable, but come on we ALL have to pay our taxes although we all dislike having to do so.I just wish i could complain that HMRC are being to aggressive with me every month, surely Mr.Heaney knew this would need to be paid.p.s. before you accuse me of being anti-TCFC as a boy i remember watching the likes of Trevor Salisbury and Jock Imrie up at Treyew. :ninja:

Mr T,

I have posted on Tigertalk that Mr Heaney should GO he owns Truro City FC but not the supporters, my suggestion has been for the council to make some land available for THE PEOPLE OF TRURO to start again with football loving locals to create a community club, done properly a rent could be agreed and supporters give some of their time to get things going, many of us would willingly make donations to get it off the ground.

HMRC is a different matter, the government agree with what I posted, 50% of taxpayers ARE OWED £300 (on average), maybe they owe YOU a wad, however you may also owe them, the HMRC are in a position of disarray. There are many legal loopholes and TCFC's Barrister is IMO sure to find one or two to suit Mr H's escape plan.

After Saturday I will support whatever team takes the field Mr Heaney's or the Supporters but fans must never be attacked by CLUB EMPLOYED THUGS and have their clothes torn because they want to hang their 'Flag of Support' - The police witnessed it and took no action other than escort THE SUPPORTERS out of the ground even though they knew the supporters hadn't done anything unlawful and if what I heard is true SAID SO.

We have been on a glorious journey but what happened on Saturday was too much, the HENCHMEN (Stewards) would not take any action against the WOKING fans racially abusing Barry Hayles and Les Afful, supporters took it upon themselves to inform the police and they did nothing.

No control, Mr Heaney should GO.

Again aload of speculation related to Truro City FC,nobody actually knows exactly whats going on. A post on this forum can become an ambiguity (have more than one meaning for those of you that are confused even if I have mis spelt it ) depending on how you read it. Maybe if you havent got actuall facts in black & White you should consider keeping your thoughts to yourself instead of posting on here. One-day against a man like Kevin Heaney someone somewhere is going to say the wrong thing and they are going to be the ones in court.

I really could,nt give a damn whats happening at Truro (although I would hope they continue with their success)

And again I would say if it,s none of your buisness keep your noses out, most of you are not connected with Truro so why comment? Maybe it could be you who ends up with egg on your face!!
