What a woeful performance. I have not seen Truro City as vulnerable at the back as I did this evening. There were gaping holes in the defence which were well exploited by the Chippenham attack and midfield. True, the weather was bad but it was the same for both teams and City failed to adapt to the conditions in the first half. Oh for a tall striker who can hold the ball up. It was good to see Yetton back but he looked a few pounds over weight. City seemed to have thrown a lot of points away lately and for the life of me, I could not see why substitutions were late coming. A ball winner like Marcus Martin really ought to have been in the side from the start. I hope that City can pick up and get a string of back to back victories when they return to league football after this week-end's cup fixture.

That was 5 wasn't it ?

Isn't that 1 LESS than our RESERVE team put past your FIRST team at the same ground?

Yeah thought so.

Touchy JASA, and as you know, we had 6 out that night but fair play you still had to beat what was in front of you. NINE :clapper::clapper::clapper::clapper::clapper::clapper::clapper::clapper::clapper: tonight by the way and still 3 out. Not got any probs with the Truro 2nds, just the man and the glory hunters.

As a Chelsea fan you know all about glory hunting don't you

Ah yes, the glory days back in the 80's in the old Div 2, watching from the ramshackle Shed End.... can't beat it !

Anyway, back to the thread, what was that score again 3-5, LOVE IT !

We lost last year 5-2 to Uxbridge; I think that one was at home. :(

And, you know, that season turned out all right. :D

We've known for years that sooner or later if we kept winning promotions that we'd rise to a level where we were just another good side pushing for space, maybe this is that year, maybe this is just a "wobble."

Our faith is undiminished! (playoffs, methinks . . .)

Xembla-the Uxbridge defeat was in Middlesex (Well it use to be)

The last time 5 or more goals were conceded by Truro at Treyew Road was 6 seasons ago.

2003-04 South Western League Truro City 0 Wadebridge Town 6

Whoops! :( That'll teach me to rely on the dodgy memory.

Porthleven put nine on us? When Webby was in charge? Or when anyone was in charge come to that! I don't think so because if that would have happened I'd still be in therapy. Either that or I have simply blanked it from my memory such was the trauma. But seriously, I think the game you're referring to was when Porthleven put seven past us at home. However that was a second round Senior Cup tie as opposed to the league which is what the question was asking.

And on the subject of wallopings in general we lost 2-6 at home to Bideford a couple of years ago in the Les Phillips Cup when we were in the middle of the fall out from the decision not to go fully pro. As for big league thrashings I still get queasy at the memory of a SWL game at Bodmin (the team I always wanted City to beat the most, more so even than Foulmouth) which was maybe the season before the Heaney revolution. We lost 1-8. To paraphrase a character in Michael Palin's Ripping Yarns : "Eight bloody one!"

Mind when our finances imploded first time around and Webby took the reins thrashings were a pretty regular occurance at first (no reflection on him as any manager would have struggled with losing virtually your whole team overnight and having to start all over with the local lads.) In fact when we didn't get walloped was a good day. 1-3 defeat? I'll take that. In fact you got used to it. And it was those hard years that have hardened me to the point where I can come over all philosophical about setbacks like Tuesday. I simply sulk, but I'm over it now. Roll on Mangotsfield, Get to the fourth round qualifier and all will be rosy again. I'm very easy to please!

Excellent first posting Old Treyewonian - welcome to the Forum. I am sure the vast majority wish Truro City the best of luck in the next round of the FA Cup and it will great if City can reach the First Round Proper and have a good home draw against someone like Exeter City or Torquay United. Maybe Bournemouth or Yeovil would also be good. Good luck on Saturday.
