any reports from the looe - liskeard game? 9-2 with 7 goals looking like coming from the 1st team boys

You are correct Max Gilbert 4, Ben Colin’s, Will Gilbert and Harry Jefferies all got 1 plus Tre getting 2

when your first team haven’t played for nearly 7 weeks and we are pushing to bring first seconds and third more together you have to give players minutes. It’s also very good for our younger players to have the chance to player with more experienced players.

The main thing is 11 players out of 16 today all local lads, 3 players have now played for the club for two seasons.

credit to Looe Town the lads kepted working hard till the final whistle.

Div 1 west

Praze 0-1 Mawnan

A cut up pitch within the first 10 minutes of this game killed any chance of any pretty football. The wind down pitch also made the game difficult at times.

The only goal coming 10 minutes from time, a freekick which found its way into the box with an unmarked Luke Wort chilling at the back post to head home.
Apart from that, a very even game. Both keepers being tested with countless chances but none making its way into the net. Maybe a dubious disallowed goal from a corner from the home side but other than yet, a very even affair.

A draw probably the fairest result but unfortunately not the be today. The canaries with only their 2nd defeat of the season but plenty of games still to play and with 3 games in hand minimum from the teams around them, there’s slight pressure but one challenge the boys will be looking forward to.

Onto next week

Prem East

North Petherwin 4 - 3 Altarnun

Petherwin Goals: Smith 23, 60; Reeve 29, Watts 73

ATT: 44

We returned to a local derby after not playing since the 3rd Feb as we hosted Altarnun, who we beat earlier in the season.

The game started scrappy and balls were being overhit from both sides which with so long off can be expected. We settled the quickest and got in behind on a few occasions through Smith and Sharpe, with Sharpe hitting the bar with a cross/shot.

Our first goal came after 23mins when for the first time we made more than 3 passes in a row with some nice play from the back, through the midfield which found Sharpe who played a lovely weighted pass to Smith on the left of the 18 and slotted away in the bottom right hand corner. We soon added a second, as Stott used the wind to really test the keeper with a freekick and he could only parry it into captain Reeve's path to tap home from 6 yards and get his 4th goal in 3 games. From here and disappointingly we dropped off the increased intensity and allowed the nuns to gain some momentum.

Altarnun then were awarded a very penalty in the 40th min as referee Holden deemed a challenge from Stainer a foul on Ambrose. incorrect in my opinion as he got the ball first. Up stepped former badger Harris but his well struck penalty was brilliantly saved by stand in keeper Josh Chalk, who hasn't played since the first game of the season. Nuns did get a goal their pressure was deserving and came just before HT as we failed to react to the second ball from a corner and Ambrose tapped in at the back post. HT 2-1

Second half we started very well and after an hour Smith added his second of the game after a well worked quick corner form Pennington found Smith unmarked in the box and his turn and shot caught the away keeper out. From here we continued to dominate and Smith nearly completed his hat trick as he picked the ball up midway into the nuns half and drove into the box taking it past a defender to see his shot hit the near post. We scored a fourth in the 73rd Min when Watts pounced on Sharpe winning the ball back in the box and slotted home in the left corner from 12 yards. From here we lost our way a little i think a bit of complacency, tiredness and substitutions caused and we conceded two goals in the 80th and 85th minute to make the end of the game entertaining for the crowd who braved the cold conditions.

With that we saw out the win which we deserved and got another valuable 3 points in our quest of a top half finish in our first season in the Prem.

Man of the match went to Sonny Smith with a brilliant display and almost got his first hat trick in mens football. Credit to Altarnun who have improved since the beginning of the season and will pick up some more points from now until the end of the season.

Next up for us is a re-arranged game vs Callington 2s on the 3g in Callington with a 12.15ko on Saturday

Apologies forgot to mention, despite that penalty (🤣) I thought Bryan Holden refereed the game well on Saturday, with a local derby it was quite niggly. All bookings and sins bins were correct including mine!

At least we can have a beer and a chat afterwards mate, which is the way it should be. We're never going to get all the decisions right, and as long as we hold our hands up when we think we've got it wrong that is all anyone can ask for! 😀👍

fully agree loved the way you were approachable during half time and was refreshing to hear afterwards that a ref thought he might have got something wrong. Just surprised you turned down my offer of a beer 😂

And it was followed up with a valid complaint for a referee making up his own laws not allowing anyone to wear gloves 🤣

And we still won the fair play award voted for by referees for the 2nd year running athankyou!
