Personally the new applicants applying to jump 4 leagues needs to stop and teams progress through promotion and if they are not good enough for that level go down a league through  relegation. Not since the Mining & FHFL merger  have the leagues been allowed to settle with the formation of SWPL and also Combo clubs effectively forming the St Piran during that period. I really hope this merger will allow all leagues to become competitive with the right team winning and progressing through on results rather then by a committee vote.

But how do you stop players playing lower than they should? Until that, which will be impossible to prevent anyway, you’ll never get a perfect set-up!

With the one-league setup next season (great idea by the way)…. Are any new clubs applying to join? Anyone applying to go straight into the feeder level? Would be nice to hear any plans for phoenix like risers….

We have a small number of applicants to join next season that are predominantly reserve teams of current clubs.  All will enter in Division 4 if elected.  Perranporth are the only 'phoenix' club and nobody will be going straight in at feeder league level.

Stopping new team’s joining the league would help, as such team’s usually consist of player’s playing below their ability in the lowest league. Plus, not enough officials or players to go round. New players should be directed to established clubs.

Dave you are totally right you can’t stop it and you will always get the old chestnut of ‘I want to play with my mates’ - far too good for the level they are at sides, but what it does do is stop a team thinking just because they have assembled a group of ‘superstars’ for one or two seasons they can bypass all the other hardworking clubs and jump divisions with a vote due to ‘vacancies’

If those players stick with the club they have joined then undoubtedly they will progress over a number of seasons, if however those players leave to return to the level they are more accustomed to at least that club might have a fighting chance of sticking around and not having to pull out of a league because they don’t have the players to compete at that level.

As an example this years Junior Cup finalists Falmouth & Dropship (who I’m not picking on just using as an obvious example of two good sides) currently in Div 2 and Div 3 respectably are undoubtedly too good for their divisions however in 3 to 4 seasons both could be in St Piran West 1 (Old Combo) but there on merit not a vote. If the current crop of players move on and not replaced like for like, both sides will find their level. St Piran West Premier (if that’s what it ends up being called) is obviously a bit more difficult to get into as it relies not just on league position but ticking the box on ground and facilities.

You'll never stop players playing lower than the should.  unfortunately its a mentality thing, young lads want to play with their mates rather than just having a beer with them after the game/games.

What needs to happen is, stopping teams being formed out of thin air.  A club should have a ground & facilities (club house, changing rooms etc) not just a kit and a first aid bag.

Because when these players from these sides step to the division they’re meant to play at they find out they’re  average and lose most weeks to people who are actually decent so they quit, drop down and act like superstars in the junior leagues.
