Asterix
Saturday 7th January 2023 King George Playing field, Perranwell Trelawny Division 1 First game of 2023 and Manager Shaun Isaacs would of hoped the boys wouldn’t of had too many plates of Turkey or boxes of Quality street over the Christmas break. Isaacs the ruthless tactician had rushed back from giving Erik ten Hag some advice at Old Trafford on Friday night, and Bolted back down the M5 to get a couple hours Kip in before todays away trip to Perranwell. Shaunny started, with a strong 11 but with a few boys missing it wasn’t the same strength squad as normal. Chats Robert Barry Matt Wardy Jack Baber Connor Nico Catt Johnny J That was the starting 11 and the game was underway 15 minutes earlier than scheduled as weather was predicted poor and both teams were warmed up. Off we went and the game was already telling it would be not berry pretty, players slipping all over the place, heavy and soft pitch, no bounce, Cornish weather had really taken its toll on the Perranwell turf. 15 minutes in and totally against the run of play, where New inn had created some good chance’s and we’re taking control of the reigns, Perranwell midfielder struck a shot from 20-25 yards out, and bent it like Beckham, past Chats right outstretched hand and into the top corner, 1-0 Perranwell. Now Shaunny I was fuming he’d gone Redder than normal and even ripped the beanie hat off his head and muttered something under his breath!! Fuming he shouted out some instructions. It worked, cause some great play and great cut back from Robert Penfold found The bull, 4 yards out to tap home. 1-1. Robert Penfold had a free kick on the edge of the area, and as Perranwell were setting up the wall, Robert asked the ref if he could take a quick one, referee said “Yes” Robert put the ball in the back of the net, Perranwell argued and the referee over turned the goal, a bit of a miscommunication as the whole ground heard the ref say “Yes” Free kick then retaken and smashed into the wall. Just before half time as a rainbow appeared over head, it must have sent some encouragement into White Pogs body, as he hit a eccentric bicycle kick on target the keeper got a hand onto it but the pure force and spin, took it off the keepers arms and back into the net. The acrobatics were phenomenal. 1-2 to Titans. But with seconds left on the first half clock, and expressive counter attack from a Chatfield punch on a corner let to Robert Penfold bursting down the wing some quick interchanges and Robert laid a ball through for Big Boz to go through on goal, and slot it Away a real killer for Perranwell just before half time and 1-3 New Inn. Boys went in for half time and Isaacs wanted change the formation so that’s what he did and some wise words, to the boys. And Jees it must of worked as The Ever pacey Wardy exchanged passes with Connor and Johnny before Atrhur played, in Wardy and smashes in from 6 yards, 40 seconds on the clock, and 1-4 Titans. Game was very static from here on in, with Titans dictating play and Chats hardly having a save to make all day. Catt ran raggedly, and Beale has miss of the season after going through on goal. Placing it back in Stithians with the attempt. Wardy using his Pace and spaghetti legs, got taken down in the box for The bull Johnny Jones to step up and convert the penalty, which made it 5-1 to Titans with 12 to go. Shaunny came on for the last 10 resting Arthur and Wardy after Wardy’s knee popped again. And even managed to make a foul throw the Manager, much to the delight of the crowd! Game finished 5-1 New Inn titans putting them 9 points clear with only 5 games left. UTT and Man of the Match, Captain Boz, solid and even necked a pint well. Dave Deacon
What happens when it comes to the Full-time league site in the case of the Div 2 result between Goonhavern v Falmouth DC? It's showing as a 9-1 away win, yet there's 10 goals detailed in the goalscorers info for DC. They have confirmed to me that it was in fact 10-1 so who has to do what for it change on Full-time? I update it when I actually know the score. This particular result was entered as 10-0, 10-1 and 9-1 by DC officials and 9-1 by Goonhavern officials. Clubs can correct the scores when they do their team sheet but it wasn't done in this case
