The Town Man
Falmouth Town 2. Ashton & Backwell 1. Decent result for Falmouth in front of a good crowd at Bickland Park today. Town started with a more attacking 3-5-2 formation with JBE getting some help up front from Charlie Edney. Fairly even first half but Town went in 2 up after goals from JBE and firstly young Charlie Edney. A long ball forward was not dealt with by the A & B defence and it fell to Edney just on the corner of the 18 yard box. Under pressure he lobbed the keeper first time for 1-0. Good clinical finishing which was noticeable given events in recent games. 2nd goal was a result of persistence down the left by Ollie Walker. He charged down the full back and the ball fell into his path. Unsurprisingly given his pace he drove into the box and squared it through the defenders legs to JBE for a tap-in. 2nd half and Town fans feared the worst when A & B got one back within a couple of minutes. That being said, Town almost immediately scored what looked to be a third goal when Edney converted after a cross from Ollie Walker caused a goalmouth scramble. The linesman didn't seem to put his flag up but appeals from A & B prompted the ref to consult said linesman. All of a sudden goal disallowed. The game wore on and Town introduced Andreas Calejas-Stayne to shore up the midfield. This helped, but failure to retain possession and the understandable tendency to drop deeper and deeper handed dominance to the visitors. Some good last-gasp defending and a worldy save from Ryan Barnes was enough to ensure Town hung on for a much-needed 3 points. Good to see Town trying something different after recent results and it paid off so well done to all concerned. UP THE TOWN!! rocky170267
Buckland Athletic 6 Street 1 Three weeks ago Buckland lost the reverse fixture at Street 4-0 However, today’s return match was absolutely controlled by Buckland from start to finish. It was an awesome display by the whole squad including the five substitutes and caps a fine few weeks for the Homers Heath outfit. Things definitely seem to be on the up for the club on and off the pitch and they appear to be going from strength to strength in a very difficult league and still nicely in fourth place as they approach the halfway point of the season. All in all a fantastic afternoons entertainment, coupled with wonderful beer and great food Buckland Jim and Both Sides of the Tamar

Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon at Homers Heath stood with my two Torquay United mates who decided against travelling to Barnet and now want to go Buckland again very soon. Two more converted Gulls maybe? rocky170267

Nice that people are talking about the team again and not just the excellent facilities!
