Dave Bartlam
Surprised not to see any mention of Illogan and Lanner on here this evening. Congratulations to Illogan for beating Penryn in Extra time to advance into the Percy Stephens Cup Final against Ruan Minor. Also congratulations to Peggy and Lanner for winning the Division One League Cup B Manning, peggy78 and TheolderIgetthebetterIwas 2

Shifty
Give us a chance to have a few beers after last game of season before putting a report on! League Cup final Lanner 4-0 Mawnan Reserves A deserved win for Lanner who were the better side throughout the first half to lead 2-0. We improved a little 2nd half and had a couple of chances to get back in it but the 3rd killed the game off. One cup trophy this season will have to suffice for Mawnan. Congratulations to all at Lanner FC Dave Bartlam, peggy78 and CRD
peggy78
Lots of people, myself included, celebrating their first cup win. Certainly in no state to put together a match report. Slipperygloves1
Well done to Lanner, fully deserved, better side yesterday, and credit to them they won and celebrated very gracefully and made being on the wrong side reasonably painless for us. Its been a very enjoyable season at Mawnan and had something to celebrate last week. Hopefully the lad i folded in half is ok? wishing him a speedy recovery - consolation is I cant walk today Congrats to lanner, a decent side and a decent bunch See you next year Dave Bartlam

Matt sustained a broken collarbone. I've asked him to make sure he turns up for extra strength training pre-season 😂
peggy78
Mawnan v Lanner - League Cup final Nice to see a final that saw 2 teams that weren't involved in the title race as 6th played 8th in Div 1 and both Village teams did themselves proud in getting to the final in a strong league. It had the makings of a good match, with both sides winning the home tie in the corresponding league fixtures. Despite the delayed kick off and resulting extra warm-ups, both teams started the game at a good tempo, with Mawnan probably having the better of the early exchanges, playing some nice one touch football at times. The breakthrough came midway through the first half as David Mitchell headed home Matt Doble's 2nd corner. I point out 2nd as the first was a miserable effort that didn't beat the first man, luckily for us it went out for another try. Matt Cowie then did some great work down the left channel, beating his man before laying the ball across for Mitchell to sidefoot home his second from the edge of the area and give us the 2 goal advantage at the break. Mawnan came out at us in the 2nd half, but struggled to create any clear cut chances whilst the Mawnan keeper pulled off a sharp save to deny an Aaron Minall drive after a fine run and was brave in a 1 on 1 clash with Cowie. As Mawnan pushed forward, we were able to find more space in behind them and when Mitchell squared to Gareth Ireson to fire home the contest was effectively put to bed. As the clock wound down, Kiall Maugham had a run and shot which again the Mawnan keeper foiled with help from a desperate dive from the last defender. The ball however dropped to Vince Trevena. From all of about 3 yards out, with no opponents upright within about 10 yards of him he would have done well to miss. A big thank you to Wendron for hosting the match and, of course, the officials, with it being especially great to see Paul Minns return to action, on the line. Commiserations to Mawnan, but it would have been greedy of them to have 2 cups this year 😀 TheolderIgetthebetterIwas
