Of our 25 scheduled games today 7 had no officially appointed referees (28%).

A very big 'thank you' to the five individuals who have agreed to step in and help out and to the clubs who have agreed to this.

Unfortunately two games have been postponed -  Div One, Saltash Thirds v Holywwell & Cubert  and Div Four, Newmoor Rovers v Bude Town.

St Dennis 0-3 Torpoint Athletic

Torpoint XI

M.Westall, C.Westall, D.Rodgers, J.White, F.Benney, L.Gibbons, A.Brayson, S.Trethewey, T.Copp, B.Robbins, A.Parry

Subs Used: T.Rowe, A.Richardson, W.Ferguson,  T.Booth

Scorers: C.Westall, A.Parry, T.Rowe

Torpoint entered the game off the back of a strong performance at home to St Newlyn East last week. Minor changes were made to the squad through unavailability.

First half saw Torpoint have plenty of possession with a hatful of chances not put away. Torpoint were particularly dangerous from set pieces, captain C.Westall saw multiple chances scrambled off the line. St Dennis' physicality looked to keep the game close. Torpoint finally saw a chance hit the back of the net with a clever short corner then lifted back post to an unmarked C.Westall. Torpoint soon made it 2-0 with some excellent play from B.Robbins to slide in A.Parry who showed immense composure to take the ball around the keeper.

Torpoint opened the second half with some neat football, opening their opponents up on more than 1 occasion. St Dennis were soon reduced to 10men after a moment of madness from the central midfielder. This seemed to spur St Dennis on, their defensive tenacity managed to keep Torpoint at bay whilst manufacturing chances of their own. 2 eventually turned to 3 when A.Brayson broke down the left cutting the ball back to an onrushing T.Rowe for his first goal in a Torpoint shirt.

A mention to the referee, Mr Tootle. He allowed the game to flow as much as possible.

Thank you to St Dennis for the hospitality. Always good to see a good old 'meat raffle' in Duchy football. All the best for the season.

St Columb 1 Altarnum 2

Went along to have a look at this fixture. I have read on previous posts that St Columb had been struggling of late with shortage of players etc.

They are a young side, full of enthusiasm, will take a while to gel as a team. If it was not for, in my opinion, 2 classic keeper errors, St Columb would have won the game.

All they they need is a couple of experience players in the ranks and they will do very well. The last 20 minutes they played some attractive football, keeping the ball on the deck, but could not find the equaliser.

Altarnun had the bear 11, but they controlled the first half with ease. Second half was a lot more open, St Columb creating a couple of early chances, until a 'Karious moment' by the keeper. But all credit to the St Columb lads they did not give up and kept plugging away.

Good luck to St Columb for the rest of the season, I predict they will finish mid table. Hopefully pop along again soon.
