Duchy Reserves Cup Semi-Final first leg

Pelynt Res. 2-3 Grampound Res.

Great battling performance on a very difficult surface by Grampound, who were 2 down 10 minutes into the second half after missing a string of first half chances due to poor finishing and some good saves. Grampound finished strongly, scoring 3 times in the last 30 minutes and deserved to take a lead into the second leg.

Thanks to Pelynt, who were good hosts but tough opponents, as usual.

Duchy Div 1.

Edgcumbe FC 6 - 2 Premier Sixes.

Good game played on a sticky pitch at Horson Field Torpoint, Premier Sixes took the lead against the run of play early in the first half, but once  Edgcumbe peg them back and took the lead they never looked back, 4-2 at half time, and in the second half Edgcumbe play some good flowing football on a difficult pitch, one note to the Premier Sixes goalie, who had a very good game, making some good saves, with a very strong pair of hands,  to prevent Edgcumbe building on the 6 goals they had..

Roger Martin.

Referee.

JJ JONES DUCHY FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Reserve Team Cup holders Godolphin Atlantic reserves have a massive hurdle to overcome if they are to reach a second final. They lost their first leg semi-final tie at St.Minver reserves 6-2 only their second defeat of the season. Ryan Parsons hit a hat trick and Luke Henderson a brace to put St.Minver in prime position. The remaining goal came off a Godolphin player. Jack Scott and Kevin McHugh scored for Godolphin to give them some hope of recovering the deficit.

Grampound reserves will take a 3-2 lead into their home second leg. They trailed 2-0 at half time at Pelynt reserves to goals from Ryan Oxley and Luke Barnes. Grampound turned their fortunes around after the restart. They pulled one back, saw a second deflected past the home keeper and wrapped up the win from the penalty spot.

Padstow United made an important step towards winning the Premier Division title beating their closest rivals Looe Town 3-1 in the match of the day. Padstow after recent slip ups welcomed the experienced Dan O’Hagan from Wadebridge Town into their squad and he scored twice. Rob Rowe was the other Padstow scorer with Tom May getting his first of the season for Looe.

Saltash United ended St.Stephen’s seven match winning run in Duchy competitions holding the visitors to a two all draw. Karl Whitehead and Luke Trevaskus scored for Saltash with Craig Coad and James Truscott replying for St.Stephen.

St.Dominick’s player problems continue and a nine goal thrashing at home by Torpoint Athletic will not help their situation. Joe Knight, Matt Westall and Josh Pope scored a brace apiece with Tyler Copp, Aaron Cullerton and Lee Vigus completing the rout.

Division One leaders Foxhole were given their toughest test of the season before overcoming bottom club St.Cleer 4-3 with the winning goal completing a Richard Griffin hat trick in the very last minute. Foxhole opened brightly and missed three good chances before being caught on the break with Alex Isted giving the visitors the lead. Griffin equalised but it was St.Cleer who went into the beak in front when Zak Peel converted a 40th minute penalty. Jamie Robinson equalised following a cross but the visitors belying their league position broke away again for Peel to restore their lead with his second. Almost immediately from the kick off Griffin equalised but then with the game seemingly heading for a draw Griffin struck the crucial late winner.

St.Mawgan returned to winning ways beating AFC Bodmin 2-1. Brodie Mitchell and Matt Willmott scored for St.Mawgan with Sam Pollard replying for Bodmin from the penalty spot.

Edgcumbe opened up a big gap on the bottom two after beating next to bottom Premier Sixes 6-2. Mike Fazackerly hit a hat trick with Ben Dodds adding a brace and Ollie Brooks adding the remaining home goal. Karl Olander and Martyn Probert replied for the visitors.

Biscovey put a comprehensive end to Godolphin Atlantic’s recent revival with a 4-0 away success. Phil Giles scored a brace with Matt Starkie-Old and Ron Hays getting a goal apiece.

There was a real feisty local derby at Launceston College where Phoenix beat Altarnun 2-1. There were two dismissals and a brawl after twenty minutes as passions became too inflamed. Cameron Bailey and Jake Benney scored for Phoenix with Tom Ellacott getting the Altarnun reply.

North Hill pushed Packhorse Athletic closer to the drop from Division Two with Dan Gregory scoring the only goal of a tight game.

Leaders St.Dennis beat St.Neot 3-0. Nathan Hugh scored a brace with Scott Hill getting the other goal.

Gunnislake took a first half lead at home to Calstock through Glen Tremblett. The held the lead until added time at the end of the game. The referee played six minutes where Chris Tilbury scored twice to give the visitors a 2-1 win.

Sticker eventually beat Stoke Climsland 4-2 in a game they did their best to throw away. After giving the visitors a pummelling in the opening period, a poor back pass saw Chris Crawford open the scoring for Stoke. Sticker equalised when Sam Fogarty forced the ball home and Alex Keast gave Sticker a deserved half time lead. Stoke came more into the game after the interval and from a corner not cleared Ian Cook slotted home. With the result looking like an unlikely draw Gus Angilly and Jack Boardman scored twice in the final ten minutes to give Sticker the points.

Veryan won comfortably 6-1 at North Petherwin reserves to remain unbeaten at the top of Division Three. Justin Trebilcock capped a sparkling performance with a hat trick with Bobby Lee Johns, Alex Pearce and Tom Rescorla completing the visitors scoring. Substitute Josh Sanders pulled back a late consolation for Petherwin.

Boscastle remain second scoring nine without reply at St.Cleer reserves. Dan Piper scored a hat trick and Jake Dickinson a brace. The visitors remaining goals were shared by Capstick, Haddy and Heal.

Queens Rangers took the lead at St.Stephen reserves through a Casey Laity looping header that went over the keeper and in off the far post. St.Stephen battled back and equalised from a James Allen corner the ball was headed in at the far post by Matthew Bromhead. The second half was controlled more by Queens Rangers and they eventually got the winning goal in the 74th minute when a fine through ball was met by Nick Trevenna with a looping header over the St Stephen keeper and in just under the cross bar. St Stephen tried for an equaliser but just failed to find the net.

Tintagel beat Lanivet Inn 5-1. Martyn Cockcroft scored a brace with Ollie Price, Adam Price and Shaun Keeble adding a brace apiece.

After thirteen straight defeats Lanreath picked up their first points of the season after beating Southgate Seniors 3-2 in Division Four. Andy Livingstone scored a brace for Lanreath with Jordan Barton claiming their other goal. Southgate replied through Reece Heywood and Adam Porter.

Wadebridge Town were unable to pick up a second successive win going down 2-0 at home to St.Merryn. The first goal summed up the club’s luck this season. A Josh Dark corner was swung across goal and missed by everyone until it struck Rob Constant and rolled in for an own goal. Dark was the scorer of the second with a shot from just inside the area.

Mevagissey won 5-3 in the late kick off at Rame Peninsula. Luke Robinson, Callum Richards and Zach Rosen were the home scorer’s.

Real Saltash moved up to fourth place in Division Five after thrashing St.Teath 9-2. The home team have really found their feet in the League and will be dangers to the other promotion hopefuls. James Mason and Wayne Skeldon scored a hat trick apiece. The hosts remaining goals were from Mike Morrish and a Craig Parnowski brace. Josh Brewer and Steve Field scored the St.Teath consolation goals.

Kilkhampton took another step towards the title beating St.Mawgan reserves 3-1. The visitors defended superbly to restrict the usually rampant home forwards to three goals. Matty Jones, Tom Shadrick and Tim Cottle scored for Kilkhampton with Chris Leach pulling a goal back for St.Mawgan.

Boscastle reserves eased re-election fears after a fine 4-2 win over St.Dennis reserves. James Bosley scored a brace with Dan Walsh and Jordan Forbes-Hardy completing the home tally. St.Dennis replied through Toby Reed and Stuart Bell.

After a series of postponements Week St.Mary played their first game since 22nd December. They lost at home to promotion chasing Roche 3-1 but put in a decent performance. Rob Pearce scored the home goal but strikes from Gareth Geach, Aaron Butler and Aaron Honey gave Roche the spoils.

Grampound did well to get back in to the game but Pelynt threw it away really. Allowed Grampound to dominate midfield when 2 goals to the good. Third goal courtesy of a comedy dive that nobody but the referee thought was a penalty; not least because it was outside the box.

The referee was actually a disgrace. Screaming a his assistant and at players. He actually looked unstable. I know we are short of referees but...

I can remember Padstow crying wolf last season and complaining to the league, after St Dennis included 1st team players into their side.
So how does Danny O'Hagan included into the Padstow side against Looe any different?

if he has left wadebridge then theres not a problem but if hes come in for a one off game then they are hypocrites. they winged like mad last year!

Shaba Man I don't normally respond but in this case I feel I must.

Danny has indeed left Wadebridge and yes we signed him to play for us but there is a big difference to last seasons situation.
We would Be delighted for him to stay for the rest of the season however we are realists and know that there are senior teams out there who would look to sign him.

St Dennis fielded more senior players than the league rules allowed, which was 3, I believe this season it is 2.

We are certainly not hypocrics in my opinion as we have played by the rules.
