  1. Wednesday 11th March SWPL Premier Division East Torpoint Athletic 3-2 Holsworthy With Robbie Morris at The Mill Torpoint Athletic got back to winning ways after their defeat at Brixham on Saturday afternoon, with this victory against their lowly hardworking visitors as this match was delayed for 24 hours due to the weather improving. The visitors shock their hosts, as they took a 5th minute lead through Dan Metherell when he shot home from close range after a corner was put in. This was after Harry Hopcroft shot from 20 yards and the home keeper, Jason Peters put the ball wide, with a low save. Two minutes later, the hosts equalised when Lee Bevan converted a penalty, after Owen Raven was brought down in the area. On 20 minutes, Ben Sharpe for the Magpies had a shot, just inches over the cross bar. Then on the half hour mark the hosts went in front when Danny Zalick shot home from 6 yards with Mike Lucas and Owen Raven who had some good build up play to create the goal. Then on the 71st minute Matt Ward converted the penalty for the Magpies to level the scores at 2-2. With ten minutes remaining, Lewis Kershaw, who have only been on the pitch for two minutes, scored the winner from 6 yards when he put home Owen Raven’s pinpoint cross to put Torpoint back up to 3rd I’m the lead. 2. We drew 0-0 in the first Senior Cup Final Match and won 1-0 in the replay against Porthleven. We also finished 2nd in the South Western League to Truro City and won the Charity Cup, plus got to the 5th Round of the FA Vase losing 2-0 the Raunds Town.
  3. What was the score in the final and replay Dave? Plus what else was special for us in that season? A quick pop quiz for you!
  4. Lewis Young in the 20th minute and Curtis Damerell in the 78th minute put Torpoint through to Final! It was a good night and thank you to Liskeard Athletic and Cornwall FA for putting the game on! For me personally it’s a dream come true as it’s my first big final, I have been involved as Football Secretary or Committee member for Torpoint Athletic for 20 years!!
  5. Just got back from Mousehole, what a great day out as the underdogs. Good football, atmosphere and hospitality. Well done Mousehole for looking after us!!!
  6. SWPL Premier Division East Yes we still have two teams in Cornwall that play in Devon!!! Torpoint Athletic 1-1 Cullompton Rangers Att: 115 A draw was just about a fair result overall in a scrappy game. Curtis Damerell scored for the home side in the 13th minute when the Cully defence failed to clear their lines. On the 80th minute, Damerell was brought down in the area for captain Lee Bevan to hit the crossbar with his penalty. Two minutes later Joe Chamberlain scored with his in-swinging corner. It feels more like a defeat than a draw. To be fair to Cullompton, they have not lost since mid October and they could be a dark horse for promotion!!!
  7. The problem is St Blazey have mainly Plymouth based supporters who probably Plymouth Argyle fans who maybe banned from Home Park!
  8. I was amazed at the Wendron set up, my first ever visit! great ground and brilliant people. They had two matches going on and dealt with it with ease.
  9. Torpoint Athletic v Millbrook The pitch has passed the pitch inspection. Kick Off: 2:30pm
  10. Millbrook 2-3 Torpoint Att: 225 Firstly a big well done to the Millbrook ground staff to get the game on. It was a good old fashioned local derby with a missed penalty and a red card by the hosts. Torpoint rode their luck at times and needed to come back from a very early goal from a Sam Morcom 30 yard screamer. Torpoint equalised almost instantly through Lewis Kershaw. On the 35th minute, Lewis Young scored from close range to put the visitors in the lead for the first time. on the stoke of half time, Jake Foster equalised for the hosts to set up for interesting second half. Both sides had chances including Tom Payne missing a penalty, which he sent flying over the cross bar. Then Jack Wood was sent off for a harsh second yellow card. In the 71st minute Mike Lucas scored the winner after a Paul Heveran free kick was parried by the keeper for Lucas to shoot home the loose ball.
  11. *** Breaking News *** I can confirm, unfortunately for Callington Town that they have been thrown out of the Senior Cup as they played a suspended play in the third round, so Wendron United will host Torpoint Athletic in the 4th Round on Saturday 4th January!!!!
  12. Remember there are two teams in Cornwall that play in the east league. And one of them is currently top of the league!!!!
