St  columb major 3-8 St Blazey Reserves

St Columb 2nd best all afternoon and suffered a pretty brutal defeat against a very good St Blazey side. St Columb really struggling with some players missing at the moment. It's a real shame, as St Columb when everyone available, would give anyone a game. But definitely nice too see more hungry local youngster's involved this season. 👍

Looks as if could be another battle for the title with Boro & Dom’s this season.

Saltash Reserves to be added to that list from their start.

Nanpean Rovers 5-2 Torpoint AFC 3rds

I'll take time for a full report but Nanpean fully deserved winners on the day. Got back into it at 2-1 and 3-2 but the hosts had too much going forward. Thought Ian officiated the game well and took the big(ger) calls well.

I need to say the pitch was top notch today (check twitter). Also, big improvements to the changing rooms post the damage! Well done to all involved at the Club!

St Agnes 1 - 5 St Day

pretty much men against boys today. Aggie fielded a very young side with 18 year old Logan Capeling handed the armband. For the first 35 minutes Aggie defended manfully against a pretty much constant onslaught from St Day. But it was a fairly weak penalty that broke the deadlock. Then almost straight from kick off an aggressive press saw the young saints stumble and a misplaced pass saw St Day 2-0 up in the space of a minute.
second half started on much the same vain, the I’m sure expensive Kyle marks proving to hot to handle. 2-0 quickly became 4-0. Aggie continued to battle and got their reward when a speculative effort from fully 40 yards breached the St Day net. Another finish saw St day run out 5-1 winners. They have some good players, bit surprised to see joe cooper and Kyle Marks dropping down a division after receiving winners medals, but if St Day keep that side together they will be tough to stop this season, 19 players they had with them today. As for Aggie keep battling like that, and add a few more players and they will be just fine this season.

Be nice if it wasn’t just a 2 horse race for neutral , just think could be 2 strong for the others Dom’s and boro

Because they’re both average and have finally found their level maybe

Dear oh dear the jealousy of some it’s laughable 🤣. Coops has played in the SWPL for about ten seasons my son has played there for 7 seasons aside of injury maybe it’s to do with travelling not that it’s anyone’s business .

Hopefully they go up as looks a well run club

Polperro 0 v 3 North Petherwin

Petherwin Goal Scorers: Sharpe 10; Sanders; 37; Mcginnes 54

Attendance: ~25

Petherwin made it 3 wins in a row since that opening day defeat to St Dom overcoming Polperro 0-3 at Killigarth. Petherwin travelled with a reduced squad with many out due to numerous reasons and were without any recognized CB's including the usual deputy in RB Farrer to call upon.

Skipper Reeve (who left a wedding to play) won the toss and we decided to shoot up the slope in the 1st half. Both teams started quickly with Polperro probably edging the early exchanges as we found our feet with the shuffled team.  In the 10th Minute, some lovely play down the left from Halliday, Gyamfi & Mcginnes found Sanders feet 5 yards inside the Polperro half, he then rolled the defender and curled a lovely ball in behind the Polperro backline for Sharpe to run onto and slot home through the keepers legs and get his first of the season. Much needed goal to settle us.

From here Polperro grew into the game with skipper Sam Lane looking dangerous with his runs out from the Polperro backline. This was addressed during the much needed water break. Within 10 minutes of the restart some nice passing football starting at the back with stand in CB Halliday found Sharpe in behind the Polperro defence again this time coolly squaring it to Sanders for a 6 yard tap in and scoring his 4th of the season. From here it was pretty much one way traffic with the young and impressive Mcginnes terrorizing the home defence. HT 0-2.

The second half started how the 1st finished with us dominating. Our third goal came in the 57th Min when youngster Sonny Smith on his first start for the club showed some great tenacity winning the ball back high up the pitch and then drove to the right byline and delivered a superb cross to the back post for Mcginnes to slot home and cap his man of the match display with a goal.

From here Polperro shuffled their squad with the impressive Lane stepping into midfield and it worked as they grew into the game and caused us issues until the water break. We needed the water break just to compose ourselves and regroup, which we did and saw the game out well with Cartwright & Halliday marshalling the defence well to keep an impressive clean sheet.

Very happy with how we played and to take 3 points down at Killigarth especially with no CB's. Thought Sam Doble referred the game very well, communication was good and he was approachable.

next up Torpoint away.
