What punishment can they hand out to someone who isn't affiliated with the FA as a player or club official??

I know Darren but in the spirit of the game (and the forum) it would be good for all to be working together to get rid of a load of tyrants who just complain about everything!

Living behind a pseudonym - the Administrators know who you are Darren. If a case against a forum member is serious in the eyes of the law, the police can obtain that info from the Administrators. I'm sure that Dave D can confirm that (?) unless of course some forum members are completely anonymous, I don't know.

Agree totally about personal attacks.

It's not against the law though is it?  So the FA can't ask for personal details of who's posting?

Obviously if its libelous then that's different

Yep fair enough. Just didn't know if the FA were threatening the public.

Also how do the FA prove who's said anything if theyre not using real names?

Under FA Rule E3 the FA can charge 'participants' Darren.  It's quite a wide definition and reads:

“Participant” means an Affiliated Association, Competition, Club, Club Official, Intermediary, Player, Official, Match Official, Management Committee Member, Member or Employee of an affiliated Club and all such persons who are from time to time participating in any activity sanctioned either directly or indirectly by The Association”.

Understand that Steve.  But some of the comments on here come from "followers" of the game. So no affiliation to any team.

And therein lies the problem Darren and that's why it's important that Dave, his fellow administrators and other posters are proactive in keeping comments within sensible bounds and hopefully return the forum back to what it used to be.
