Bodmin Town

Folk on here have been saying for a while that a big problem with Bodmin is the lack of locals in the team, and a connection to the town. Well, Dane Bunney is taking steps to rectify this, and has announced in the last few days the signing of three local youngsters who will join the Peninsula League squad. Best of luck to them, it will be interesting to see how it works out.

That is one thing he did well at Saltash utd.. Bringing in youngsters from the area. 

It will ultimately depend on whether they are good enough though

He's signed Joe munday he's very good for a 17 yr old lad n I wish Joe all the success as he's a great kid too.

Either that, or he’s had to sign local youngsters as there’s no budget for anything but. 
 

Loved the “signed from Bodmin Town’s Under 18s” post yesterday.  Even though they don’t actually have an U18s team 😂

Exactly!  Bodmin Athletic FC.  An entirely separate team made up primarily of ex Bodmin Youth FC lads , not associated with Bodmin Town FC and in fact playing at Lanivet.

To be fair it actually might be a good thing if he hasn’t got any budget and he is giving the young lads a chance. Regardless If they are Under 18s connected to the club or not. 
Bodmin been crying out for years for some local lads to pull on the shirt.

My point, SB, was that BTFC issued an official statement that the lad played for ‘Bodmin Town Under 18s’.   When in fact there’s no such thing, so presumably an attempt by the clubs social media team to imply they’re following the model of more forward thinking clubs. Next up they’ll be referring to ‘their’ youth teams and heaven forbid ‘their’ women’s team.
When in fact for all Darren’s success over the years, it’s been a one team club and that’s been it’s downfall as it’s offered nothing for the local community.  

New management may genuinely wish to bring in local lads, and good luck to him if he does, as it is likely to be the only chance of building any relationship with the local townsfolk, getting paying people through the gate, and volunteers on board.

Well they got it half right by saying he's been playing for the Reserve side and in fact he has played more for them pro rata this season than for the Bodmin Athletic U-18s.
