County Cups not continuing!

Recommended Posts

From the Cornwall FA website ...

Following a meeting of the Cornwall FA Board of Directors, a decision has been made that it is no longer viable to continue with the County Cups from the 2019-20 season.

Cornwall FA run 13 County Cup Competitions throughout the season, and we were always clear that all the competitions, adult and youth, would be treated the same.

Having taken into consideration several factors, it was determined that to try and complete the competitions would not be practical and with a hopeful return to football imminent it was felt that the focus should now be on the 2020-21 season and ensuring all our clubs are supported through what will be a challenging time for all of us, as we look to get grassroots football restarted in what will be a very different landscape.

This decision has been left as long as possible so that we could make sure the decision was as informed and reasoned as possible.

We are aiming to run a full County Cup Programme in the 2020-21 season and look forward to the competitions and hopefully finals days with packed stadiums and exciting matches.

Does this include the Walter C Parsons Cup, which appeared to have all its fixtures arranged and ready to go? It would be a shame if so as there were some cracking matches set up.

No, Bruegel. WCP is a SWPL competition and there is still a desire to complete it if possible.

I understand that the South West Counties Youth Championship has also been cancelled this coming season, but as yet no definite decision on the FA County Youth Cup.
