Parkway 1 Bodmin 1.

Bodmin down to 10 men mid way through the first half. Hobbs sent off for a WWE like move .

Parkway played well today and went ahead with a deserved goal by Ryan Richards. You would not have thought Bodmin had only ten men as they always looked dangerous on the break. When we all thought 3 points were in the bag, our defence got caught knapping and Carter equalised with a few minutes to go.

To be fair to Bodmin they never gave up and kept coming at Parkway. Overall I will take the draw, but I do think we let 2 points go. Lewis Coombes had a good game today and it was great to see John Heveran back. Man of the match for me was Lance Bailey. Well done lads great effort.

Warren Daw didnt do a thing wrong 2day what a young player and man of match for me. Didnt see the Glenn situation. Was it that bad? i heard a yellow but because it is him it always leaves the door open. Before that he looked dangerous. Good on Gilby playing him today correct game for him to play in.Think Bodmin looked dangerous on the attack but silly mistakes from Parkway as in freekicks etc gave Bodmin the draw. Great crowd for Parkway and they lads did the club proud i think.

Wadebridge Town 10 - 0 Foxhole Stars

Score line says it all really, bit of a mismatch but credit to Foxhole for continuing to try and play in the right way.

Bridge 7-0 up within 35 minutes. At 8-0 Dan Jennings taken off for a rest (60 mins) having bagged 6 goals, Paul Menhinick with the other 2. Further goals for Bridge through Gyles Reynolds and Dan Metherell getting his first for the club. Foxhole keeper made some blinding saves late on to prevent the score line being higher.

The travelling is a massive off put for most players in west cornwall for sure! There are some quality players playing in local leagues but just can't commit to the amount of travel involved. To be fair I don't know anyone that actually likes the new leagues.

One day we will all learn to accept that Saturday football does not mean the same thing to everyone anymore. Excuses like....I have to go shopping with my girlfriend ...I have to visit a mate up country who is at Uni... I have tickets to a premier league game....I have to work every other Saturday.... I am going to a mate's stag weekend....the list goes on and on....are now the norm.

When players pull out Friday night or Sat morning... a manager has a hard job filling positions to fulfill the fixture. There is no way...absolutely no way we will go back to the Jewson SW or Devon League. In Devon and Cornwall there is now a nationally recognised league. Sticker, Helston, Dobwalls etc are now part of something big. It's all about change. Look at all those businesses which have failed recently....the world has changed and if you don't change ...you will be left behind...become extinct.

I have to say, that clubs were pressured into joining the Penisula league as if they did not then they would not be able to enter the FA Cup and/or Vase. Then, the FA decide that they don't really want them and up the standards of ground knowing that most clubs down this way do not have the money to make the improvements. I believe even Bodmin may not be able to enter next season. Why not say, let the FA do what they want and reform the old South Western League. More local derbies, less travelling (especially bank holidays and evenings). It was nice while it lasted, but the honeymoon period is over.

For me, Hobbs is someone that's never made the best of his ability. How silly in the most important league match of the season so far for Bodmin that he got sent off after 25 mins. A WWE like move, he should be

ashamed of himself.

I'm afraid Glynn has no shame!

I remember when Bodmin Town signed Mr Hobbs that Darren Gilbert came out with something along the lines of " he's been allowed to get away with silly things at his previous clubs ,but that won't be tolerated here . "

Why the fondness for the old SWL ? At random, I opened a history book and it fell at 1982/83, teams include Clyst Rovers (Exeter Airport), Torrington of North Devon were runners-up, Bugle, Millbrook, Plymouth Command, Plymouth Civil Service. There were also trips to Appledore, Teignmouth and of course Penzance. Interestingly, Truro City (yes, the first team) ended up rock bottom and there was no Falmouth, Liskeard or Saltash as those three had gone up to the Western League. Crowds were less than they are today (other than Boxing Day fixtures).

So what part of the old SWL do you really miss ? The only one I can think of is the dim and distant past of the 50's when crowds were in the thousands, but this was not a weekly event as some would have you believe, most game were in the big hundreds. The FA Cup was a bonus but that had to be given up when we were told it was Step 6 for the SWPL Prem and facilities had to be improved.

Just out of interest.

How many people with so called opinions on the SWPL are actually an active member of an SWPL team. Not a fan/supporter but in an actual official capacity at a club?

If not your opinion is totally irrelevant. Who cares whether you think an all Cornish league is better. NO ONE. You all hide behind a pseudonym on this forum but no one has the balls to step up to the plate and become involved because if you really thought it was that bad and cared you would want to get involved to put your concerns right. Total BS as usual.

Well said North Devon Dweller and Nemesis I am afraid we have a lot of backward looking people in Cornwall who would sooner go back to the South Western league that's why we are becoming the laughing stock of Southwest football, as far as I know no one was coerced into joining South West Peninsula league and those who didn't want to or now don't like it could have stayed in the lower leagues. It's bad enough that in recent years a Cornish club has not taken the step up into the Western league and we had the embarrassment of a Devon-based side Buckland who became the first to take promotion to step five from the Peninsula league, and it looks as if the second one to move upwards will be yet another Devon club Plymouth Parkway and good luck to both of them for having the balls to give it a try.

Nothing wrong with the Committee we already have ? We do not need anyone else. And your team for one should be in a different league as it is an absolute nightmare travelling up there.

The Helston v Holsworthy game was a total miss match, Helston having players that want to play football and want to be there and some Holsworthy players that just wanted the game to be over after about 2 minutes! It also did'nt help that Holsworthy had to take players out of their 3rd team which play in the Kingsley league!

Of course your free to make a comment but do you really think the powers that be care about the comments of a person who hides behind a pseudonym instead of coming forward. How many of you moaners on here have ever gone up to one of the leagues committee members and said to them face to face the tripe that you then put on here but you are more than happy to do it whilst hidden behind your computer.

NDD or North Devon Dingleberry as I'd like to call you, this is a forum not a league meeting!!

To say just because people on here are not involved with the running of clubs, that they're opinion is tripe, really shows a degree of ignorance on your part!!

Some of these people have been (only) supporting they're clubs for alot longer than any commitee member or manager has been involved with the club thus meaning they probably have way more knowledge of the good and bad points of they're beloved team.

I think this gives them the right to discuss what ever they like!!

As for hiding behind a computer........this is the internet not everyone's local pub!!!

Even If everyone put their real names on here, how many would you know or recognise??? Not many I bet, I know I wouldn't know many or care for that matter.

So please..... If you dont like what you read...... look at something else!!!

Everybody is entitled to an opinion. The idea that supporters' opinions are irrelevant is nonsense.

Personally I agree with Nemesis and was going to post something similar. Travelling for the Premier Division clubs is a bit of a non issue as it's nigh on the same as it was in the SWL.
