Some great games here Dave. A very good chance we witness some cup upsets as well. Some great teams in these finals. St Ives Mariners to beat dropship could be on the cards. Great team and management.

Is there going to be a programme designed for each of these finals Dave? (I have been collecting them for years)

What is Aurter Pearce cup? An why is there only 5 teams init?, all teams that have struggled in there leauges that have finished close to bottom? Seems abit strange that we reward teams that haven't done so well with there own cup. Losers cup maybe?

It is those clubs who have two teams within the Trelawny League, so essentially a cup for the reserve teams which runs alongside the Percy Stephens Cup.

A Preview of today's New Inn Inn Titans v Penzance Percy Stephens Cup semi. Admittedly written entirely from a Pz perspective, but maybe of some general interest:

TITANIC TASK FOR YOUNG MAGPIES

Penzance Reserves play their first match in three weeks this afternoon when they travel up the A30 to play New Inn Titans in the semi-finals of the Whirlwind Sports Trelawny League’s Percy Stephens Cup (2pm kick-off).

Penzance’s run to the last four has been impressive, topping their group before winning 2-0 at St Keverne in the quarter-finals. They face a mammoth task though against the Titans who stormed to the Division One title without dropping a single point, beating the Magpies 4-1 at home and 3-0 at Penlee Park. Penzance pushed them all the way in the League Cup though, losing by the odd goal in five to a late strike. New Inn also lifted that Cup, thrashing Newlyn Non-Athletico 8-0 in last Saturday’s final, so are targeting a treble.

“In preparation for the semi-final, our lads have been attending double training sessions on a Tuesday and a Thursday,” says joint Penzance manager Daz Smith. “We have been working heavily on ball retention, pressing, and speed of play as well as practicing penalties…. just  in case!

“To have reached the last four of such a prestigious cup competition is testament to how far we have come this season. At the very beginning, we weren't even sure we would have enough players. The lads have really bought into the brand of football we want to play, and I think the growing support for the Reserves shows this.”

Missing from the team unfortunately will be Matt Robinson, Ben Reeve, Lewis Hitchens, Jake Heale and Freddie Neaum. James Payne will captain a squad that also includes Adrian Murley, Josh Whitburn, Josh Reeves, Robertas Samnauskas, Tyler Dayus, Tyler Smith, Harvey Richings, Haidar Fadli, Joel Steel, Kizzy Snowden, Sam Payne, Dylan Walter, Joey Lamb, Connor Thomas and Ilhan Kaya.

Travelling support would be hugely appreciated. The match will be played on New Inn’s home pitch at Illogan Park which is the second the left just after Cousin Jacks chippie. There is very limited parking at the ground, so it would be advisable to park out on the main road. The are public loos on the park, but no other facilities - so bring refreshment.

“I know they will give everything they have, and that's all we can ask,” concludes Smith. “They are a superb group of talented players who have grown stronger together, and I really feel that this is just the beginning of a bright future. One more giant hurdle against a very tough team but, with us as the underdogs with no pressure, who knows what can happen....”

His managerial partner Lee Major adds: “Whatever the result, and hopefully it is fourth time lucky, I'm super proud of this team and what they have achieved this season.”

Penzance Old Git Ultras will be there, as we have been all season.

We thank all our opponents for the hospitality and kindness to a couple of disabled codgers.

There have been some great contests between sides in our Division, not only against the Magpies but between other sides who we've watched when Pz had a week off.

We wish everyone luck for next season, whichever division we are all placed in.

Shame they couldn’t reverse this and play at Penlee Park, the park pitch will certainly be a factor in the outcome of this game.

Actually there has been a fair bit of money spent on the ground and it's surrounds. The goal mouths were repaired, new seating, pathways, toilets, changing rooms upgraded. It just needs some basic covered standing and a larger car park.

It must be very difficult for most sides formed since the sixties. Before then there were large attendances at games, so there was money around for the clubs to spend on their grounds, hence Pz, Newquay, etc, etc have set ups such as stands, lights, etc that people nowadays expect.

But since the sixties and seventies there have been declining support hence you see little money spent on infrastructure at those clubs. This has also affected newer clubs that have set up since then. They have had nothing to spend on purchasing their own grounds and for those that did manage to do so, very few have been able to take the next steps like lights, stands, etc.

Are there any experts out there who know planning, local rules and regs, about sources of funding especially sports, lottery grants, fundraising, sponsorship, how to make long term plans for clubs, etc, etc who could help set up clubs on the road to self improvement? Clubs are run with willing volunteers who are not experts but with the right push could lead their clubs forward.

A football pitch is a football pitch.
At the end of the day, loads of reasons can be factors in a result.
We could grumble about having 3 games in a week. But we just go again.
It is what it is, 11 v 11.
Let’s not put a dampener On a cup tie, with people who aren’t even playing moaning about where the game is being played.

Stating a fact, the pitch will be a factor, the boys are used to playing on a carpet at Penzance so will have to try and adapt to a park pitch, not moaning just facts.
