cornishteddyboy
It was Porthleven 0-1 Penzance at half-time but the second half was delayed for quite a while due to an injury to the Magpies Jamie Payne.

teflon123
Few shocking scores in the West today. Going to be a long season for Millbrook, should have stayed in the East Cornwall League.
Olimar
Few shocking scores in the West today. Going to be a long season for Millbrook, should have stayed in the East Cornwall League. I have read on this forum about teams in the Premier being criticised for not taking promotion and being paid too much money and then I read your comment suggesting Millbrook should have stayed in the ECPL. They're clearly looking to progress and as far as I'm aware, don't pay any of their players, therefore not spending valuable money on any 'big time charlies' so why shouldn't they make the step up? They're showing some progression having previously dropped from the West into ECPL 1 and have worked their way back up. Give them a chance! Northernmonkey
Wadebridge 6 Holsworthy 0 Wadebridge were streets ahead of the visitors today and if it wasn't for the Holsworthy keeper this could have been the second team in the West to score double figures today. In reality Holsworthy were poor rather than Wadebridge being amazing but I suppose you can only beat the team that is in front of you. The stand out player was the Wadebridge no 10 (DJ), he tormented the visitors all afternoon with his pace and as a result he was regularly fouled. Wadebridge though will bully and intemedate teams this season. They were very vocal when things weren't going there way and a I think 4 players got yellow cards too. Wadebridge scored four goals in the first half. The best came from the penalty spot, a great near post header from a corner and a comical back pass. In the second half a lovely cross and header by the old fella up front was the highlight as well as the same player controlling the ball with his bum in a different attack. Nice beer in the bar too It will be interesting to see how this impressive Wadebridge team perform against tougher opposition...
Jamo
I would hazard a guess and not being disrespectful to helstons result at all, would say millbrook must have had a fair few out, if so fair play for still getting a team out and playing the game

Jamo
We look forward to meeting our friends at Helston to! Didn't Mean anything by it other than I know millbrook had probs with players unavailable pre season as well so wondered if it was the same today, fair play to them for still putting a team out if so, if it was the full team fair play to Helston on a cracking score line
teflon123
Always respect ambition but to be fair Millbrook I think only finished 3rd or 4th in the ECPL last year and it's a big step to soon. The travelling in that league is ridiculous and it will only take 2 or 3 bad results before players will think twice about travelling to places like Penzance, Helston, Porthleven, Mousehole, Penryn to name a few. To succeed in that league you need a solid competitive squad and not sure at the moment Millbrook have that. Hope I am proved wrong as over the years I have many a good time down there and would love to see them do well.

Blues10
Older, to be fair, millbrook have some good individuals, but no disrespect to the defenders, they played the highest line iv ever seen, and it completely backfired. You could see that when we went 4-0 up their heads went down and everything we hit seemed to go in. So 7-1 at half time.. They came out, obviously completely deflated. But I wouldn't say it was that Helston were that good.. Yeh we did play well, but millbrook did have bit of a stinker as you can tell. It's nice winning, but by that margin, it's a bit silly and hard to stay motivated. I really hope things turn a corner for millbrook, they're a really nice bunch of lads. Hopefully a big learning curve for them :)
TheolderIgetthebetterIwas
He reckoned you had 35 ish pops at goal, and the same as you, he said a very high line, a lot of one on ones, one of those days when everything goes in.
Blues10
Yeh we probably did have that many to be honest, I should have had 15 'tap ins' myself but guess I shouldn't complain. Don't think they'll play a high line like that anymore
