cornishteddyboy Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 The dates are confirmed on the FA Full time website. The venues from Mark Leah of St Day which need to be confirmed. Cornwall Combination League Cup Semi-Finals 10th March 2013 St Day v Mullion at Ludgvan 17th March 2013 Illogan RBL v Perranwell at St Day 31st March 2013 Final at Porthleven
pointers Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Two cracking semis and what will be a very good final, why porthlevan as a venue though?? Now their clubhouse has gone I'd say this is one of the least favourable venues for a final in the combo??? Pitch aside,as its undoubtably one of the best around mind. Who decides on the venues for these games....??

bigbadbarry Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Wendron best set up in the combo. U WOULD SAY THAT UR THE MANAGER
MJP Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Absolutely, Barry, I have to fight our corner, the Falmouth town packet won't even put our local derby win v our local rivals on the last addition! Plus it is the best set up in the league!!!!
skyblueref Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Absolutely, Barry, I have to fight out corner, the Falmouth town packet won't even put our local derby win v our local rivals on the last addition! Plus it is the best set up in the league!!!! I think St Day and Hayle might have something to say about that and Hayle don't share with the Cricket.
Sids1991 Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Play cricket and football on the same pitch do they? Completely irrelevant!
MJP Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Our pitch is separate from the cricket. So sky, your point being?
skyblueref Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Our pitch is separate from the cricket. So sky, your point being? You share the same clubhouse.
Jamo Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Can't see why anyone can slate wendrons set up, plenty of parking, decent pitch, ok maybe not the quality when the great jack prowse was looking after it but still good, fantastic changing facilities and a good bar, so where are the major negatives about wendron?
Tom Blewett Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Wake up skyblueref wendron is a. Great set up and too get 2 sports using the facilities of the club house is a sign of a great set more money and more custom for a start
MJP Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Oh I see that is extremely relevent to this post?????? Lunch time session sky??
skyblueref Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Oh I see that us extremely relevent to this post?????? Lunch time session sky?? Guys, I think you lot might have been on a lunchtime session. Not once did I "slate" Wendron, merely pointing out others have excellent facilities aswell. Wendron indeed do have a great set up, and I look forward to visiting next month. As MJP rightly points out you have to fight your corner and Hayle is my club. You don't get the county finals and regularly hold the kernow youth finals [as do Wendron] If your ground's not up to it.
Jamo Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Plus being the cup final is end of march, which is what this topic is about, the cup final venue, I don't think u would probably see a cricket match being played at wendron being that the cricket season doesn't start until end of April I believe?!
skyblueref Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Plus being the cup final is end of march, which is what this topic is about, the cup final venue, I don't think u would probably see a cricket match being played at wendron being that the cricket season doesn't start until end of April I believe?! The point about the cricket is; A clubhouse sharing two or more sporting set-ups is obviously going to be more financially beneficial than hosting just one.
Jamo Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 I don't think wendron financially benefit from having a cricket team in march?!
TheolderIgetthebetterIwas Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Can't see why anyone can slate wendrons set up, plenty of parking, decent pitch, ok maybe not the quality when the great jack prowse was looking after it but still good, fantastic changing facilities and a good bar, so where are the major negatives about wendron? The firkin wind !!!!!!!!
Jamo Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Lol it can b windy! But then again, most grounds in Cornwall suffer that
TheolderIgetthebetterIwas Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Lol it can b windy! But then again, most grounds in Cornwall suffer thatNOT like wendron !!!!!!!!
Jamo Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 I think some grounds do! Not that wind should effect the choice of a possible semi final venue lol
MJP Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 A nice surface, a club without debt, youth set up. No slope. A plan, What's not to like about Wendron?
TheolderIgetthebetterIwas Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 I think some grounds do! Not that wind should effect the choice of a possible semi final venue lolNothing wrong with Wendron for a semi or a final.....but they have to guarantee there's no wind.....hot air accepted.
bigbadbarry Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 A nice surface, a club without debt, youth set up. No slope. A plan, What's not to like about Wendron? I DONT LIKE THERE KIT COLOURS
MJP Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 TOIGTBIW, Peter Thorne can stop the wind if necessary, and Barry your dress sense is appalling so we don't care about your opinion about our colours anyway, I would prefer like Don Revie to change it to all white, but we are trying to severe the Truro connection so that will not happen!
Jamo Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Bigbadbarry prob supports Aston villa or west ham but hasn't worked out yet wendron play in the same colours
TheolderIgetthebetterIwas Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 I expect the hot air from Peter anyway....stop the wind....bloody impressive that.BBB..turn your bloody caps lock off and write properly. Caps are for shouting when your angry - like this - TURN YOUR CAPS LOCK OFF !!!!!!!

pointers Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 A nice surface, a club without debt, youth set up. No slope. A plan, What's not to like about Wendron? no slope.......you must of had a few too many in the clubhouse the last time you was looking down the pitch MJP...........!lol
TheolderIgetthebetterIwas Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 My spirit level doesn't lie pointers!!!Like the rest of us MJP....your spirit level changes as the night gets longer...as does your eyesight if you think Wendron is level !!! Its not far off....but not level as in bubble perfect
MJP Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 I will be having a word with Rob at B&Q about that level then TOIGTBIW.

SY WINNAN Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Penryn or falmouth town are the quality facilities to host the final I bet none of the semi finalists would moan about those venues!!!!!!!
TheolderIgetthebetterIwas Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Penryn or falmouth town are the quality facilities to host the final I bet none of the semi finalists would moan about those venues!!!!!!!Now there's a man with a bit of sense. However these things should be shared around and both of those have done very well over the years.

skippy Posted February 25, 2013 Report Posted February 25, 2013 A semi or final at Holmans would have been a nice farewell gesture.
Pitty Posted February 26, 2013 Report Posted February 26, 2013 Thanks for that skippy,,,, mathematically not down yet!!! Unfortunately our facilities need a little bit of care and attention and a considerable bit of fairy dust (cash) to make them all nice and shiny and fit for a semi/final.....would have loved to have hosted one but we don't really need the pain, grief and abuse that would have resulted in the barrage of comments on here. Best 3 grounds in the league to host in my opinion Porthleven, Penryn & Falmouth Town....as a player they have something a little bit special about them when you step out on the pitch.
cornishteddyboy Posted February 26, 2013 Author Report Posted February 26, 2013 About time someone on the North coast had a s-f or final. Newquay or St Agnes.
SY WINNAN Posted February 26, 2013 Report Posted February 26, 2013 Aggie should go for it would be a great atmosphere there for a final
truros mr mourinho Posted February 26, 2013 Report Posted February 26, 2013 Back to the wind,or should I say gale
YoungPercy Posted February 26, 2013 Report Posted February 26, 2013 Thanks for that skippy,,,, mathematically not down yet!!! No disrespect but Penryn is not the ground that it used be, the surface is not the same. I have to agree that there is something different at walking out at those grounds, and exactly what you should get from a semi-final. No disrespect to Ludgvan but no where near the same standard as the others mentioned.
Wade-10 Posted February 26, 2013 Report Posted February 26, 2013 After playing a semi final couple years ago at ludgvan the pitch was outstanding on the day everyone on the day agreed, so yes they deserve to host it again good call
Uni Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Aggie should go for it would be a great atmosphere there for a final. Played on their pitch a couple of weeks ago and was a terrible surface to play on! Good clubhouse and friendly atmosphere though but not a good enough surface for a final!
le boss Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Whilst all are making valid points as to why THEIR pitch should be used, some of them are not very spectator-friendly - for this reason it should be Falmouth, Port or Newquay - just my opinion
TheolderIgetthebetterIwas Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Whilst all are making valid points as to why THEIR pitch should be used, some of them are not very spectator-friendly - for this reason it should be Falmouth, Port or Newquay - just my opinionExactly - just your opinion. Mine is...share it around.
Jenko14 Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 I think Bash is probably right though. You want people to go and watch these games, so have them at grounds which are spectator friendly. Can't argue with Porthleven hosting the final at all.
SY WINNAN Posted March 1, 2013 Report Posted March 1, 2013 I've asked this question before y o y do the league always persist on having a semi final on Mother's Day attendances at this semi is never as good as they would be on another Sunday!!!!
