MOUNTAINEER
AFC Totton's groundsman (Ken) and his band of helpers deserve every one's congratulations, from 33 Southern League games, all the other 32 games were postponed. The 40 or so Truro City supporters at the game deserve a mention, also those who after being trapped behind snow ploughs had to return home. With the weather as it is, I wouldn't call them glory hunters, I would call them true City fans. If Truro City win at Thatcham Town on Tuesday they would go to the top of the league. THE SOUTHERN LEAGUE:- I think the Southern League should have called ALL games off in view of the current weather, teams spent cash they could ill afford attempting to get pitches playable, there was no thought about travel. To subject Truro City or any club to travel though some of the worst conditions for years was ludicrous, it wasn't only the getting there it is the getting back, with temperatures falling and driving on icy roads in darkness, peoples lives could be at risk, it was the possible hazard for the return journey that swayed me not to travel alone. It was a great result for Truro City and a great way for me to celebrate my 73rd birthday. I hope Tuesday's game is on so I can see City go top of the table.
