Report for David Bray - Wadebridge Town 2 St Austell 6 [ht 1-4].

The visitors took the lead in the 5th minute when they were awarded a penalty for a trip on Josh Higman and Lee Whetters scored from the spot after having to retake it. It was 2-0 after 20 minutes when Whetters scored again and the same player was a little lucky not to get booked for a clumsy challenge.

Gary Whieldon was completely unmarked to make it three for the visitors after half an hour. Worse was to follow 5 minutes later when Body took advantage of more poor marking to make it four. The home side pulled a goal back just before the break.

Although the home side played better in the second half until Danny Nancarrow tapped in to make it five after good work by sub Will Tinsley. Then a bizarre Bridgers second when a shot fro Paul Grylls was allowed to trickle through Gary Penhaligon's legs to make it 2-5. I would have thought the visitors keeper was glad that no recording was being made of the match because it was real howler. To compound the home supporters misery sub Chris Phillips made the final score 6-2 and St Austell, who face Torpoint Athletic in the next round, throughly deserved their victory and I don't think even the most ardent Wadebridge supporter could argue with that.

Hope that is a fair summary.

Thanks Lafs for your kind words - were you at the game today - if so I am sorry I missed you.

St Austell did play some excellent attacking football. I have seen Wadebridge play a few games this season and I felt that they did not perform as well as they can but that might well have something to do with how well their opponents played.

and no john elliot on the line either judge  seriously though it will take a long time for the pen league to level out judging by results in the senior cup.wadebridge,,bodmin, liskeard all prem teams losing to west sides and blazey losing to ecpl side and launceston losing to combo and also hayle losing to combo

No I wasnt at this game as I didnt have time to make it over. Who was your MOM Peppermint?

I watched the Blazey v Bodmin game and must say that Blazey gave as good as they got but not until they'd committed suicide at the back and found themselves 0v3 down by H/T. With a change of formation they had a go at the champions elect but couldnt find a way past a solid Bodmin defence. Tickle must be a candidate for MOM also, so that tells a story.

A difficult choice for Star Man - but I am always impressed with the movement and play of Dan Nancarrow and him and Mike Body were a real handful. Lee Whetters scored two goals so has to figure and Gary Whieldon played well and Josh Higman made some great runs.

I am going to make Dan Nancarrow my MOM - but some spectators might disagree -but that 's football!!!!

Thanks David - a very Happy Christmas to you.

Good luck in the New Year with the County Youth team - lets hope they can string together some wins. Looking forward to the St Austell v Newquay Charity Cup 1/4 Final.

Regards Graham

Very fair assessment of the match peppermint, also agree with your mom choice Nanks always works hard off the ball and thoroughly deserved his goal yesterday, Whetts was also worthy of the award as two goals speaks for its self.

Bring on Torpoint.

Thanks Higgy and Nanks - St Austell did play some great attacking football and Nanks is right that the score could have been greater. Good luck in the next round.

Graham, very fair report of the game. We did play dreadfully in the first half, same as St. Austell, we've not played or trained properly for nearly a month and it certainly showed. We looked as if we'd all just met!

I thought St. Austell showed great enthusiasm and their postive forward play is exactly what we have lacked this season. If I could afford Nanks and Body they would be top of my shopping list!!!

Best of luck to Glynn and the St. Austell boys in the next round, play like that and you will blow Ivybridge away too.

Clyst Rovers 2 Elburton Villa 1

Great result!!! - Clyst got 2 early goals. However Elburton went down to 10 men and rallied well to pull a goal back in the 2nd half.

Lloyd Gardner played well on his return from Bridgwater Town and notched!!! Nick Moyes was outstanding in goal when Elburton piled on the pressure late in the game. Happy Days!!! :clapper:

Thanks Stuart - Wadebridge did have an off day and not helped by being inactive for so long. Having seen you play on other occasions this year I know you can play better.

I always enjoy coming to Bodieve Park - very friendly and well run club and good luck for the rest of the season.
