cornishteddyboy
Well done to both St Day Reserves and Lizard Argyle who become the first teams to complete all their League matches for the 2021-22 season.
Glen Patterson
Penryn 2-3 Lizard A funny old game played at Kernick today. Both teams drew names out of a hat to decide who was playing where. Penryn ended up with Kyle Cooke in goal & Jak Davies as manager. 1st half was all Penryn, Ryn went 1-0 up when striker for the day (CB) Paul Hart got in behind the back line & finished well. Ryn had plenty of possession but didn't create many more chances & the sides went in at 1-0 Penryn. We brought on assistant manager Craig "Donut" Southworth at ht to play up top which was well received by the fans. Ryn made it 2-0 15 mins into the 2nd half with a good run & finish from Brad Southeard. With 30 left we put coach Keir Dent in goal & moved Kyle Cooke up front along side Donut in the hope we could get the big man his goal. What followed was a 5 minute mad spell where the stand in keeper made 3 howlers, including an own goal & all of a sudden it was 3-2 Lizard 😂. We swapped our players around to their normal positions in the hope we could get back in to the game, but Lizard were well up for it by this point. Ryn were pushing for the equaliser but it was actually Lizard who had a the clear chances to increase the lead & only poor finishing stopped it being 4 or 5. The game ended 3-2 & Penryn now need 4 points from our last 2 games to guarantee a 2nd place finish in the league. You need 4 points hoping Mawnan lose. If they win you need to overcome their 7 GD better than yours.
