FALMOUTH TOWN V WENDRON UTD

Recommended Posts

An excellent crowd of 545 (probably 600 plus,as Town don't count under 16's who get in for free ),braved a wet and windy evening for a feast of footballing entertainment .

The match was preceded by the clubs own act of rememberence including the reading of the EXHORTATION and KOHIMA EPITAPH either side of the minutes silence by F Trooper Donald Chambers , and the sounding of the LAST POST and REVEILLE by bugler and ex player Paul Kneebone .

The game started at a fast pace with town immediately pressing any wendron player who had the ball to win it back .In the 4th minute Jack Bray Evans opened the scoring for Town when his deflected shot ,wrong footed the wendron keeper ending in the bottom left corner of the goal to give the powerful striker his 3rd goal in as many games .

Almost immediately wendron hit back from the restart when a diagonal ball to Kian Thomas on the right wing allowed him to get a shot across the face of goal which appeared to be  deflected passed Ryan Barnes by defender Toby Clark .

7th min a Luke Brabyn shot was initially blocked only for the loose ball to fall to Dave Broglino who fired the ball into the net with interest .

19mins A missed placed pass from wendron allowed Luke Brabyn a clear run and shot on goal that sneaked under the diving Eathen fern .

23mins slick passing and movement between Tim Nixon and Broglino led to the latter's shot being flicked on by Luke Barner goal no 4 .

Wendron were struggling against the wind and rain and the continual press of the Town midfield didn't let up and they were probably glad to see the half time whistle .

Wendron manager Mike O'neil obviously said the right things during the break as they came quickly out of the starting blocks forcing Town back with some quick passing and movement of there own and were justifiably rewarded on 51 mins when the speedy Joe Souch ran down the right wing cut inside into the area and beat Ryan Barnes low down at his near post .

60mins The ever reliable Toby Clarke was replaced by new signing Tom Moxham who 5 mins later had a dipping shot that was pushed over the bar by the wendron keeper .

Town kept looking for further goals and despite great defending by wendron with blocks and last ditch clearances they conceded the 5th goal on 81 mins when dynamo Luke Brabyn played a slick 1/ 2 with Dave Broglino for the later to steer his shot into the bottom corner for his 2nd and deserving M.O.M.award .

Overall a great evenings entertainment ,really impressed by Wendron who despite the scoreline were stiff opposition and should be top 4 at the end of the season ,well done to all involved .

Well officiated by the no nonsense Mr Hunnisett .👍

As for the Town we move on to Buckland next week ,in the vase .what a tough fixture ,but one all involved at the club are relishing .should be a massive F troop presence ,with a double decker coach booked loads going by train and own cars .CANT WAIT!  UTT !
