Saltash 0 Helston 0 crowd approx 196(may be one or two out from memory)

A game of very few good chances and very little quality but at the same time very absorbing.

Saltash lost big defender Callum Obrien early on with in his own words an injury caused by "a lot of weight to go on one leg" ... He's always a miss for Saltash.. Although young Charlie Elkington did play well as replacement

Stand out for Saltash was the aging(but doesn't play like it) Danny Lewis and for Helston centre back Ryan Beattie who had the usually very effective Sam Hughes sewn up(Hughes is strongest player on pitch until in the box and he turns into wet cardboard!)

Veal was very in effective. Bowker surprisingly subbed early in 2nd half.. Always capable of Conjuring up something. However Billy Tucker did come on and do well.

Some fun words on sidelines between the managerial teams with Dane eloquent as usual.

Ref controlled game well but his decision making at times was baffling.

All in all an entertaining nil nil

Good point for Helston to be fair. Main issue will be Massey keeping a big squad happy. All the new lads will expect to play 90mins. They spent enough time sat on benches at previous clubs.

Saltash starting to pick up injuries not the biggest squad will be a test as the games come thick and fast.  Still expect both to be up around the top of the table.

Ashes 0  Helston 0

Ashes dominated posession and had the best chances and IMO deserved to pinch a tight game. That said, the pressing game from the Blues was very effective. As 'Footy' said Beattie handled (often very literally) Sam Hughes very well. Bye, as ever, impressive with his range of passing and vision.

In both games this season, Blues and Ashes have largely cancelled eaxh other out. Over the two games points shared not an unfair outcone. Both sides will be top 5 at the season end.

195 crowd a tad disappiinring!

An obsorbing rather than thrill-a-minute game tonight.  Another toughie for the Ashes at Bridgwater on Saturday.

They won't care with the money they'll be picking up for just sitting on the bench

His team battled well but to make out it was one team of long ball merchants against a team of ballers would be a tad unfair

A touch of hyperbole  from Dane, but IMO Ashes *were* the better of the two teams tonight.

I honestly can’t remember the last 0-0 at Kimberley- but it was a reasonable game- and Saltash did shade the possession and had the better of the chances.

Injuries are building- however, with a few of the second team signed on and with the impressive Alex Crago I think we’ll be fine. Another new signing done before the game (but more of that to come!)

Bridgwater to come which is never easy then Ilfracombe on BH Monday.

Shows that even the galaxy of forwards that Steve Massey has assembled can't guarantee goals. From the reports i have read, sounds like Helston are a bit long ball and route one. Not sure if they have a plan b when that fails. Personally, i am surprised that a player of Billy Tucker's quality isn't starting, unless he's injured of course.

Saltash keep going with Dane Bunney still confounding the critics. Sounds like Danny Lewis was very good again, has to be one of the best players on the circuit over the last 10 years or so. An intelligent and consistent player who you can guarantee a n 8 or 9 out of 10 from in every match.
