Richard Chown Posted October 13, 2014 Report Share Posted October 13, 2014 Press Release: WORLD CUP FINAL REFEREE, HOWARD WEBB, PRINCIPAL GUEST AT CORNWALL FA 125 YEAR CELEBRATION EVENING We are delighted to confirm that Howard Webb, World Cup Final & Champions League Final Referee 2010 (the only man to have refereed both Finals in the same year) will be the Principal Speaker at the 125th Anniversary Dinner organised by the Cornwall FA Referees Department as part of the Cornwall FA Celebrations. Howard recently retired as a FIFA & Premier League Referee to become the Technical Director of the PGMOL. He refereed the Champions League Final, Bayern Munich v Inter Milan at the Bernabeau Stadium, Madrid on 22nd May 2010 followed by the World Cup Final, Spain v Holland in Johannesburg on 11th July 2010, only 50 days apart! On both occasions Howard was assisted by Mike Mullarkey & Darren Cann, the three of them being recognised as a refereeing team. Referee Development Officer, Ray Brown said we are extremely grateful for all the fantastic support we continue to receive from the Professional Game Match Officials Ltd (PGMOL) and particularly to Howard for taking the time from his busy & demanding schedule to visit us here in Cornwall and be the principal guest of our celebratory evening The dinner will be held at Sandy Lodge Hotel, Hilgrove Road, Newquay, TR7 2QY on Monday 27th October 2014 at 7.30pm. Following the Meal, Speeches & Presentations, musical entertainment will be available until 1130pm Limited tickets remain available at £25 per person, bookings can be made by contacting Ray Brown on 01208 262983 or ray.brown@cornwallfa.com Tickets will be sold on a first come first served basis. I think it's a Tottenham one he'll be wearing after amazingly failing to give a penalty for the Hugo Lloris "tackle" on Ashley Young last season!
